Excellent App for kids!

I'm very greatful of the classes that are improving the level of English of my daughter. Also, thanks for Shamim.

At the demo class, there was the time that we asked for 3.30pm, but after we bought the package, we have not been able to bring the hours that we need for Monday and Wednesday at 3:30 pm. At this moment, two weeks later, we have not been able to have one class at all.

Good experienced teachers make classes more fun with children. We love Novakid that it is very flexible to change class times. I recommend it!

A total waste of time. With the exception of Preply, almost no other platform that I know off hires minorities. You have to ask yourself why? and then the answer becomes clear maybe the company is a tad racist? On Facebook you might see recruiters for Novakid pitching up a good front for potential teachers to apply. They never specifically mention the rate (rumor it is within single digits). I decided to apply to the U.S. side of Novakid since I had a god awful experience with their Polish counterpart. I told them my situation which was a little dire. I even had a teacher referral, but within 24 hours someone with a European name said they wouldn’t proceed, but wouldn’t explain why. Like I said before I am convinced that 90% of the companies out there simply want a white counterpart to teach their kids since I have yet to see any minorities on their site. It's no wonder teachers are abandoning this profession because of what this industry represents. Please don’t waste your time applying here. If they are more concerned about someone’s skin color we have problems. You could have said you were dying and needed the job, and they still wouldn’t care. PS: Also, despite the claims that they hire people from all backgrounds, many blacks and filipinos have said they were rejected for not having "cambridge" backgrounds. They also tend to offer exploitative rates like $4 for 50 minutes for class. Not even enough to buy yourself a hamburger, or a cup of coffee.

I really like the way the platform works. The only thing I haven’t liked is that I’ve had some problems reviewing my son’s previous classes because some of the recordings weren’t saved properly.

If you want to learn the English language, I recommend to use NovaKid. You can find teachers from all over the world with lots of different methods to teach you. In the begining you will be assigned to level on witch you are right now. You then get better and at a certain point you level up. If you want to experience it, come to Novakid!

The teachers are skillful, cheerful and supportive, and the overall program is well designed and engaging, but there are two potential improvement areas regarding the curriculum.

1. The curriculum lacks the element of teaching kids the basic ways to interact with teachers - like how to respond to "say ---", or how the kids should know when the teacher is asking questions. I taught my daughter the basics but it requires quite a bit of effort, and it feels there should be a more systematic approach to it.

2. The free offer for the group speaking lesson was helpful and I had my daughter try it out. She enjoyed it, but the content was way too advanced for her current level. The kids should be matched to peers at similar levels, or there should be some sort of guidance on what the conversation of that day will involve. There was no information in advance this time, and I was unable to get my kid prepared at all.

Why don't you hire Nigerians who are also brilliant and native speakers? why reject them?

Our experience with Novakid has been great so far. The lessons are interactive and engaging, and my child looks forward to each class. Teachers are kind and supportive, and the learning atmosphere feels comfortable and motivating. Everything works smoothly, and we are satisfied with the results.

My daughter has been studying English with Novakid for about 5 years now, and we are very happy with everything. We found a favorite teacher whom my daughter absolutely adores.
She speaks English very well now and even passed the exams to enter an English-speaking class.
The service is very friendly, and they always help us with any questions we have. We are extremely satisfied. Thank you ☀️😊

I applied to NovaKid and was sent a link to self-record a demo lesson with no student. I wasn't told what was going to be on the "test," wasn't given any information or outline about what their requirements are. I clicked the link and had a timer with a 1 minute countdown for 4 questions. I had 1 minute to prepare and then about 1.5 minutes to record myself teaching acting as if a student were there and enacting all their stipulated demands on the side bar. I was emailed back saying I was rejected due to non-standard teaching practices with an attachment of "standard" teaching practices. Why didn't they send me those in the first place? Any other online school or real school lets the employee know what to expect, what they expect from them, and communicates that clearly. NovaKid did not. Their interviewing method of self-record is non-standard, doesn't replicate a real teacher-student relationship, and certainly doesn't replicate what goes on in a real lesson. There was no time to prepare and little time to demonstrate said teaching standards. I emailed them about this and they replied repeating the same as they stated before never addressing my points. If they cannot acknowledge that their method of interviewing is non-standard, that they failed to communicate their "standards" or requirements or expectations from a teacher, then they have no right to say I have no teaching standards. Very unprofessional! I literally quote from their reply email: "Self-recorded videos reflect the actual teaching context our instructors work in daily." So that means they have no students. How can anyone thoughtfully reply in such a manner? Is she even aware of what a teacher-student relationship looks like? If they can reply like that that means they have no clue about ESL and pedagogy.

NovaKid failed to communicate, wasted my time, and insulted me at the end of it. I am a native speaker of English, have a Master of Arts in TESL and have 15 years of experience teaching 1st grade through university in 4 different countries.

Update: Their reply doesn't address what I have written about and simply glazes over my negative feedback. If you read other reviews online, they report demonstrating the same negligent behavior.

We love our teacher Sheila very much. We have been using Novakid for 3 years and we are satisfied; she has reached a certain level. Thank you Novakid 🥰
