Review summary

Created with AI, based on recent reviews

Considering 108 reviews, most reviewers were let down by their experience overall. Many people were dissatisfied with the products, citing issues with fragile and non-replaceable components, as well as a lack of innovative new games. Customers also frequently reported terrible experiences with customer service, finding it unhelpful and difficult to reach a real person, often encountering long wait times and unhelpful responses. The refund policy was a major source of frustration, with many struggling to receive refunds for accidental purchases, faulty items, or games that did not work as expected. Additionally, people found the prices to be high, especially for digital games, and felt that the website offered a poor user experience with difficult navigation and filtering. Some people also felt that the company's practices were designed to extract as much money as possible, with increasing subscription prices and mandatory credit card additions. Reviewers also mentioned issues with account security and the inability to recover lost accounts, even with proof of ownership.

They are lying to customers and banning users because of broken systems

You are not allowed to send links in audio or chat messages. That is ok. But their automated moderation tool is broken and can interpret anything as a link and give you a warning or ban you. If you contact Playstation to ask help, they lie to you to cover this up and give you just automated answers that do not help at all. If you do not mind losing your Playstation any time or getting your console blocked because of an error, keep using their broken systems and good luck.

A Masterclass in How to Rob Your Customers Legally

PlayStation Store sold me a game that was entirely in Chinese — no language options, no warning on the listing, nothing. My account is set to English. I had no idea what I was buying.

I opened the game, realised within 3 minutes it was unusable, deleted it immediately, and asked for a refund. Denied.

Here's what makes this worse: the English and Chinese versions are priced identically but sold as completely separate products with no way to switch between them. So PlayStation is essentially trapping customers into buying the wrong version through their own storefront's failures — and then refusing to fix it.

This isn't a refund policy. It's a system designed to extract money from people who make an honest mistake that the store itself caused. Zero playtime. Zero use. Zero recourse.

If you're buying anything on the PlayStation Store, double and triple check the language version — because if they sell you the wrong one, they will keep your money without a second thought.

This is exactly the kind of practice that consumer protection regulators should be actively targeting. Digital storefronts have grown into billion-dollar platforms with policies that are deliberately stacked against the buyer — misleading listings, no-refund rules on digital goods, and zero accountability when their own system causes the problem. Regulators in every country need to catch up with the digital economy and hold platforms like this to the same standards we expect from any other retailer.

Avoid if you value your consumer rights. There are platforms that actually stand behind their customers.

age verif broken on top of it all

One experience of buying a pinball game and the ball is glitching all over the place, unplayable.

Sony played deaf ears until I said I was going to escalate in court for ''product not fit for purpose'' and that's when someone asked me to film a video.

Then they gave me a ''gesture of good will''. How decent of you.

And now that your age verification portal is broken, you're going to lock me out of communications on a £500 device.

Steam machine coming out this year, guess where my money is now going.

Signed: Playstation customer since day one. 30+ years. Not interested in Poostation 6 anymore.

Awful customer service

Awful customer service. My machine has a licensing issue caused by a glitch - they could sort it, but instead have asked me to just sit & wait - indefinitely! They won’t even tell me when it’ll be fixed. So now I have a totally useless machine that I cannot use - and my top tier subscription is ticking away - disgusting way to treat customers.

Wanted to refund starfield

Wanted to refund starfield, had a mega crash and save corruption at 122 hours. This corruption became an issue that prevented any new game starts and completely rendered the game busted. I reached out to support where I got an agent MIA who basically ignored the entire issue I spoke of and just said "no, wait for patch" and declined me. She then proceeded to block me from support as spam to further stop me from getting help. I would also like to point out that PlayStations refund policy is a LIE and they are breaking the law. They state that if a product is fault or broken they CAN refund it. They have also broken country laws since in the EU and UK the consumer rights law says if your product is faulty it MUST be refunded.

This is for you MIA and PLAYSATION SUPPORT 🖕🏻🖕🏻🖕🏻🖕🏻

Absolutely terrible experience.

Absolutely terrible experience.
I waited ages for the agent and than before resolving the issue, he disconnected and the AI couldn't reconnect me, saying there is an error.
I went to my Bank to query the payment.
You have to be very careful with them.

rejecting address

I wanted to buy a PlayStation 5 Pro console just before the price change, but during checkout the store kept rejecting my shipping address and I didn’t know what the problem was. After the price increase, everything suddenly worked and my address was accepted again.
I’m a PlayStation Plus Premium subscriber, so I feel misled by this kind of behavior from Sony’s official store. I do not recommend shopping there.

Playstation Overcharged

Bought PS5, inserted PS4 disc for GT7 which installed. Once installed was offered the PS5 upgrade for offer price of £5.00, selected the offer and downloaded at which point I was charged £34.99. Support not interested as can only refund prior to download. What a scam!! Should be zero stars!

Things used to be better

I've been using this service for years, but the prices are getting absolutely ridiculous. PSN games have never been cheap, but this is taking it too far. And the dynamic pricing is just a joke. My friend and I, who live in different cities, are seeing different prices. This is just ridiculous. It used to be a great service. And the support is, as always, consistently terrible.

If I could give zero stars, I would…

I bought MLB The Show 26 Deluxe Edition specifically for early access, and despite the game releasing last Friday, I was only able to play a demo all weekend. Once the release date for the actual game came out on Tuesday, still only able to play demo and some over streaming which disconnected me numerous times and never saved my data.

I contacted PlayStation support multiple times, spent over 40 minutes on each call, and ended up doing more troubleshooting than they did. Yesterday an agent told me to try a list of steps and call back today for a refund if it didn’t work.

Today, after the issue still wasn’t fixed, another agent told me I couldn’t get a refund because I downloaded the game—even though I was told by the other agent to download the game and even though it’s a digital copy that can be deleted on their end. He admitted he didn’t know why the previous agent told me a refund was possible, then repeated that I wouldn’t get my $89.99 back no matter what. When I explained that I paid for a product I never received, he hung up on me.

I’ve been a PlayStation user for years, but after this experience, I won’t be purchasing another digital game from them.

Boni in customer service is very helpful

Giving this review two extra stars because Boni in customer service is a friendly and helpful person who managed to assist me in recovering my account in only one call, he needs to get a promotion or bonus for his awesome services. Prior to this, I had repeatedly had issues when contacting Sony to recover my account for months on end as their email system keeps malfunctioning and there are some horrid individuals on the call line. Robert was rude and only "tried" to help when I put my sister on the phone because he has never spoken to women before, and Christine was nice but did not know how to operate the email system!
