About Plenty of Fish Dating

Written by the company

Logo

The Plenty of Fish story begins all the way back in the distant year of 2003 when it laid down its roots as the first free online dating site. POF believes that building a community where people feel free to be themselves, helps create the most meaningful connections. Every day, Plenty of Fish helps people find their blanket thief, Ikea sherpa, personal spider hunter…you get the point.

POF has always been true to itself, allowing members to choose their own path to connection on the app and matching members based on the things that ultimately make for real, long-lasting love. That’s why Plenty of Fish was the first dating app to ditch face filters. People can feel free to just be themselves. No pressure, just real connections.

This site is a scam. Do not give them your money.

I would give POF a 0 star rating if I could. I signed up and realized there was no one in my area. So I tried to cancel within
24 hours. They refused to get me a refund and my subscription. So I had to cancel my card so they wouldn’t charge me again for the three payments. Do not give these people your money. It’s a scam.

The absolute worst dating/ hookup site…

The absolute worst dating/ hookup site ever. Nothing but scammers and fake profiles with pics ripped off the web. Females under male listings is a dead giveaway. Just a total waste of time. If you want to waste your time talking to a scammer from over seas, go for it. Otherwise stay far away from this site/ app.

You get a flow of likes before you purchase the subscription

Then when you become a premium member, none of the women who liked you responds to your messages. The level of activity is much higher on SttDate.com
and the women who are actively engaged in correspondence are genuine. When you request to cancel your Pof subscription, you start getting that flow of likes again. They want you to renew your membership and keep on paying. I don't know how dumb one must be to believe that this can be true.

Every single woman wants Prince…

Every single woman wants Prince Charming, the man of her dreams, and won't settle for anything less than someone very hot, very funny who is over 6 feet tall.
When you look at the standard of women who are demanding such things that isn't going to happen

They refuse to compromise, and rather than being happy and giving out good vibes on the site, they spend their whole time acting unfriendly, rude and telling you they can't see likes.
Hardly the best way to attract someone is it?

If they're that bad now imagine what they'd be like if you met them?

No stars

I pay for premium which meant I could…

I pay for premium which meant I could send a loads of messages a day to women, and then after they took another year's money, they changed it, and now premium only gives you one contact a day like others that don't pay except you get all the other useless features. Now they have prestige which costs an extra £40, which gives you the benefits premium used to. They didn't notify me of this before taking my money, obviously. It came into effect as soon as they took my money. They are scammers

POF has located my profile in another country, and refuses to change it to where I live.

Signed up for more expensive package. I live in Ireland. Even though I choose Dublin Ireland as my location, all the profiles that I get to see, and that get to see me, are in Scotland. When I asked POF to resolve this, they said they couldnt due to a recent upgrade in their technology. When I said that I wanted a refund and would try to set it up the account with the right location, they said they dont give refunds, and referred me to their terms and conditions. There is no t&c that says that if my location is in the wrong country that it cannot be changed. Their lack of interest in addressing an issue that they are responsible for and that I must pay for demonstrates that this is an organisation that does not care about its customers. I was contacted by another woman from Dublin, with a default Scottish location, who said she experienced the very same issue.

Plenty of Fish has become a scummy platform

Plenty of Fish has become a scummy platform. You pay for a yearly subscription, only to find out later that you need to pay even more just to talk to people. They don’t tell you this upfront, and once you’ve paid for the year and discover the extra charges, they simply say ‘no refunds’—full stop.
Years ago, I used to tell people this was where I met my wife and that they should join. But now it’s no longer about helping people find love; it’s all about squeezing money out of users. They mislead you, they upsell you, and they’ll say anything to get more money from you.
I’ll be telling everyone I know, and every blog I can find, exactly how this platform operates

Plenty of Fish stole £20 by…

Plenty of Fish stole £20 by double-charging me for a subscription. They said they'd pay it back but, ten days later, they still haven't. They're very dishonest in hoping you won't check your accounts, so they can get away with theft. I wonder how much they've managed to steal over the years through this deception?

Since this platform changed owners it’s…

Since this platform changed owners it’s a great deal worse than ever before. It is no longer free and it ignores your desired radius and ethnic preference. The same owners has bought BLK and Bumble making all 3 a disaster. They will trick you into believing that you have many potential matches waiting, but you can’t see them until you pay and then when you do, not one comes close to your preferences. POF is swamped with fake profiles and photos. The platform administrators are messaging customers I think pretending to be legitimate matches. Don’t waste your time and money.

Biggest Scam Dating Site

Biggest Scam Dating Site.
I was on POF. Early 2025. I got sick of the same bs. I went back a year later March 2026 the same people are still there. Nobody talks or they send likes and deliberately ignore you. Most women on there are angry men hating time wasters. They don’t know what they want. Don’t waste your time or money.

Waste of time and money - AVOID IT !!

This site is full of old profiles and fakes. It limits the number of first contacts you can send out to ONE A DAY, even when you pay for POF PLUS £20 for 1 month which is absolutely pathetic and you still can't see who has viewed or liked you!!

POF PREMIUM - you can see views and likes but nowhere will they tell you the number of first contacts it gives you. I emailed and asked and got a full page of waffle and they still wouldn't tell me the answer.

Also, messages keep appearing saying you have 25 new LIKES which is blatant lies. When 25 people VIEW you, they say it was LIKES even if none liked you. Ridiculous.

Another con trick POF uses is the "MEET ME" feature. Go through these and you will find every single reasonable looking female profile has messages DISABLED, which is because they have become inactive months ago and are no longer there. Their last online date shows and it's usually 2 months ago or more. I believe most people would remove their profiles if they had left the site, so POF is clearly keeping these profiles on the site to make it look interesting, without the people who left even knowing.

I remember POF back in 2002-2006. It was never great, but it was 5000 times better than it is NOW. AVOID THIS SITE and NEVER EVER PAY THEM ANY MONEY. NEVER !!!

Total scam site

so many photos are stolen and become fake profiles with bizarre First names and everyone seems to be working working for the government or an engineer lol you have to repeatedly report them to POF and they're taken off but most of the time they're put back with a new name etc. somehow I think that POF is creating these fake profiles with these drop dead gorgeous guys to entice people to use up their free messages you ask them specific questions where they live and they repeat the town or are they just stop answering you total scam site

Bought membership to be told I can only email once a day. Shocking and disgusting waste of money. I can email if I buy an email for 1.25 per email. Just a money-making racket in my opinion. Or upgrade for 39.99, so 60 gbp a month. Total waste of time
