Cash grab
I would like to start by saying that I didn't actually purchase a service from QuickPacket, but I did just have a bad experience with them. I very likely dodged a bullet and I'm here to try and help others dodge a bullet aswell.
I've been looking for a dedicated server in Ashburn and I came across QuickPacket. I opened a ticket to speak with them and see if they would be fit for me. I asked them a bunch of questions to see if they'd be fit for me but when I got a response (from Jeff, the CEO, and everything going forward was a conversation with the CEO himself) but they didn't answer any of them and asked me how much RAM and storage I need. I answered, and asked more questions.
Now, I have a specific kind of setup, different than what most customers may need. From my past experience with server providers, it can require THEM to make changes to their network. I asked Jeff if they'd be capable of making this work. In his response he answered some of my other questions but not the most important one - if they'd be able to tweak their network if necessary - for things to work.
At this point I told Jeff he didn't answer my question and I asked if we could just spin the server up to do a test and see if things work - if they don't, I just get a refund, minus whatever costs he had. He told me that he'd have to order hardware for the server I'm looking for so I said "okay, can we do it on a test server then and after we're done testing you can refund the remaining costs of the test server to credits so I can pay for the actual server I wanted" and he refused.
So I had to spend money that I couldn't get refunded (their worst server was $80) just to see if they'd be able to setup their network, and I had to keep that server running for a whole month instead of them just shutting it down and letting me pay for the main server with the remaining balance.
It honestly feels like the guy knew they couldn't get their network setup in the way I needed it and just wanted me to pay for a server and not have any use of it, and then not refund me.
I have had a similar bad experience with Rad Web Hosting who deserves a negative review of their own, because I actually paid them and they refused to refund me even though they couldn't get their network setup properly.
The reason I'm not giving QuickPacket 1 star is because they do maybe provide a real service, but they have no problem keeping a customers money when they're unable to provide a proper service because they don't have networking experts
