I purchased Irish setters several years…

I purchased Irish setters several years ago and stored them without much use. In new condition the poly... sponge layer in the sole deteriorated and crumbled separating the rubber sole from the bottom of the boot. This breakdown was evident on both pairs. I was told that they should not be stored but worn. I still believed this should not happen from sitting in a box. The sad part is that the rest of the shoe is good quality leather and stitch and quite strong but made useless because of this soft spongy layer which breaks down before overall boot wear. Customer service did finally agree to repair both sets at a minimal fee using a solid sole which should now wear evenly with the overall shoe / boot life. thank you RW customer care.

My redwing boots are awful!!

My redwing boots are awful!!! I don't even want to go to work because of these boots but it the only pair I have at the moment. I work as a technician installing internet and my feet are swollen on the regular. I walk with a limp now and I need to go to the doctors about my sore feet. It feels like rocks on my feet with basically zero comfort. I don't understand why my company buys these redwing garbage boots but I had to tell my story. Redwing boot are not good work boots and they're expensive. My boots cost $200. Glad it was a company vachor but still. I hate these boots and my feet may be damaged permanently.

My boots squeek

I purchased RedWing boots two years ago. The first pair had a problem with the tongue, on the right boot. It had been stitched in at an angle. So I waited a couple of weeks for a replacement pair. When they finally came in a couple of months later, there was a loud scrunching sound from one of the boots, when I walked. So, I waited for replacement again.
Let's skip ahead to the fourth pair of boots. The right boot has a crooked tounge, and both boots squeek when I walk. I gave up...I'm wearing them, but I'm not happy.

Mixed reviews

I bough the classic chelsea amber harness about 3 weeks ago. The elastic on each boot started to fall apart after less than 2 weeks. The top of the elastic seems to have broken and lost some if the elasticity. This happened on each boot. I bought Red Wings because of the reputation for quality and so I'm really disapointed. I like the look and overall fit. I also emailed Red Wing about 2 weeks ago and no answer. I would be hard to recommend these in these conditions.

I thought they were good until they…

I thought they were good until they decided to go against their lifetime warranty on their premiere socks. So much for a "lifetime warranty" claimed on the package. Now they will only give u a (not the same) replacement pair, and then that's it. They stopped making the lifetime warranty socks, just because they don't want to warranty them any longer. They should refund everyone's money they paid for these at time of replacement. Maybe then they won't back out of lifetime warrantys!

Best sock policy ever!!

Over 3 years ago I bought my first three pairs of Red Wings Merino wool socks. They have started to wear through on the heel.
I just reached out to Red Wings customer service because I wasn't sure how the warranty exchange on their socks went. I just wanted to make sure that it was legitimate and if I take all three of these pairs of socks down to the store that they're going to give me new ones and I don't have to pay anything. It was actually easier than that. My information all popped up including my purchase history when I called Red Wings, and she said they will ship out today three new pairs. I asked her what I do with the old ones and she said to just do whatever I want with em! There's no way I will ever buy any other socks besides Red Wings! I'm just happy that I got some good customer service for once and there are still good companies out there.

Bought a new pair of Moc Toes.

Bought a new pair of Moc Toes.
As with all new hard wearing leather they need breaking in.
Just be prepared to have patience and rugby training to put them on.
If you’re in a hurry to get out of the house these are not for you.

Red Wing ruined Christmas

I wish I could leave less stars. This is my first time buying from red wing and will absolutely be my last. I purchased a $350 pair of boots for my husband for Christmas. Red wing mailed them via UPS. The Delivery driver thought it was a great idea to throw my package over the gate that says “beware of dog” even though there are safer spots and very evident delivery spots outside of the gate. Chalk it up to a dumb mistake because they were rushing. Well that dog immediately got and destroyed the package. Upon talking to UPS they stated the sender of the package is responsible for that. So they will have to be the one to contact them to open a claim. Being a small business owner this would absolutely fall on me to replace because the company I chose to deliver dropped the ball. However I work by a code of ethics and have moral. Red Wing refused to do anything until they heard back from UPS claims. Which should have nothing to do with me. It’s been 2 weeks and 2 days and they have yet to respond to my recent follow up. Thank you Red Wing for ruining Christmas. Edit: January 14th and I’ve still not heard back from them.

If I could leave less than 1 star I would.
My husband’s boots fell apart after 6 months of use. He contacted the company and they offered him $50 towards a new pair 😂 versus actually standing behind their product.
Do better, Red Wing.

Redwing boots junk

Redwing has been my go to boot for 20 years. But now all can say is that they are over priced junk. I recently bought 3 pairs which I go through. Within 3 weeks the inside heel on both boots ripped which makes it almost impossible to get my foot in. Customer service said nothing they can do. So on to my next pair I went well those lasted about 4 months then same thing and now 3 rd pair say thing ripped in same spot. Hard to believe they can make something that will hold to gather I have spoke with multiple other people that are having the same issue as me. Redwing use to be the best boot out there for the blue collar workforce. Shame on redwing horrible service over priced boots and horrible quality. So much for the made in USA and built quality. I have had boots from Walmart that have lasted longer for a 1/4 of the price. Stay clear of redwing they are just the next carhart brand going to sell boots for show not for work. Such a shame this company is gone so far down hill.

Slow and easy break in works.

Bought a pair of the Iron Ranger Rangers in the only store that stocks them here in Iceland. They fitted my normal size straight off the bat. Wore them in very slowly over a month at home, walking socks and 2 hours at a time. As someone who often wears leather soled goodyear welted brogues I had no problems whatsoever during the breaking in period. Now to the boots. The quality of the leather and stitching was immediately apparent. Even the laces are good. As others have observed these boots are bot cushioned and you can feel the surface concrete on pavements (sidewalks if you are from USA)
Now they are so comfortable it is a shame to take them off. One thing I still do is avoid tying the top speed hook for a more comfort. YMMV!

I’ve purchased the Irish Setters pull on boots for the last 6yrs I should have learn my lesson 3yrs ago 8pairs in that time frame the bottoms with in 2 months and I would need to super glue the bottoms also the insides of the boots would come out. It is not worth the money anymore. I wish pictures could be attached to show how good the bottoms look vs the whole bottom coming undone and the insides coming out.

I spent $400+ at a red wing store

I spent $400+ at a red wing store, about 2 years ago on boots, footbeds, and socks. I splurged. I started a job at a lumber yard. I believe it was march 22 at the time of purchase. I got them for work and hiking, the boots made it through the rest of that winter, I live in grand county Colorado and the winters are long.

The boots were wam and I was impressed with the water/snow resistance, and the traction. They are heavy for sure, 4.5 lbs each.

Things started to go south When I noticed the leather wore down quickly around the steel toes, I think it’s a flaw in the manufacturing. Then as the year progressed, even with regular mink oil and cleaning the finish, not counting the torn and scraped toes began showing signs of wear. The second winter arrived and long story short, the soles detached on both shoes and began to leak water as the rubber cover across the toe seem tore away.. I fixed one boot 2x and the other once using gorilla glue and clamps.

They didn’t make it through the 2nd winter; with broken eyelets, torn toes, and separated soles, before I went cheap with Amazon boots. I remember the sales guy said the have a lifetime repair warranty so I tossed them into a closet and went back to work figuring I’d do it later.

Later finally came this past September of 24 when I drove 180 miles to the nearest store where they told me the only guarantee the stitching and resoles would cost $130, and “tough toes”, a shiny epoxy coating to protect their poorly designed toes, would cost $40 a piece. So let’s see, 130+80 =210. $210 to get my two year old $400 boots, back into service. What a spit in the face insult.

I called the corporate offices and left an irate voice message.

The on thing the red wings were, was they were warm. I decided that they would be better than cheap Amazon boots in the cold.

My solution was to use even more gorilla glue and better clamping, and I used KG’s Boot Guard on the toes. The boots are ugly as hell now, but as the foreman of a large expanding lumber yard, I’m hoping to at least keep my feet warm this winter.

As promised in my voicemail, I would tell everyone I can reach what a waste of money red wings are.
For the $210 needed just to repair them, you could get thorogoods.

I love my Red Wings

I love my Red Wings. When I bought them free stitching and soles repaired locally. If we need new soles I have to send them to Northern B.C. Takes eight weeks to get them back. Stores don't have stitching machines any more. There are three cobblers in the lower mainland. I got new soles at Pete's shoe repair in Surrey. Won't buy another pair unless it changes

Have one of the last real union made…

Have one of the last real union made red wings and I’m trying to keep them alive. Paid for a resole last year and when I got them back, there were no screws holding the sole on but on the originals there were. I called and pointed out the difference, guy from red wing said they don’t use screws anymore. Sole has separated from the shoe in less than a year. Not worth the 150 at all. It’s really ridiculous how bad the boots and even service have gotten

Wear poor quality

I have always worn Red Wing boots and gotten along great with them. i always buy the exact same style over and over again. typically, i always get a good year of wear out of a pair of boots before wearing holes in them. But this time i worn my new pair no more than 20 days and there was a hole worn clear threw the toe. so clearly there was a quality issue so i contact red wing and told them what the issue was and provided them with my receipt. And their answer was that the toe is a high wear spot and is not covered under there warranty. the boots had been wore 20 times they should not have a hole already, clearly there is a quality issue. Very disappointed in the quality Red Wing use to be such a good quality brand,

I purchased a pair of king toe that ran…

I purchased a pair of king toe that ran me $375 and within 10 months the soles of both shoe were separating from the shoe, and all I do is general maintenance. No construction what's so ever. So I looked online if I had a warranty and found out that there was a 12 month warranty, but when I went back to the Nimitz branch of Red Wings the assistant manager said it was normal wear and tear. I asked him if it's normal for the soles of the shoe to separate from the shoe in just 10 months from just walking? He stated normal wear and tear! Very rudely, so I asked what is this 12 month warranty and he stated only on manufacturer defect. Bottom line if that's not a manufacturer defect, then what is? He then told me to leave and will call the cops and trespass me if I didn't. Gave me his managers business card which I tried calling with no answer. So not wanting to get arrested over a pair of shoes I left. Nimitz Red wing is the worst shoe store experience I've ever had in my entire life!
