very difficult/impossible to get set up with an account if you are independent and don't have an organisational email address. emailed MANY MANY times for help with this, over many months and not even received a reply

Ok for scientific Networking

Ok for scientific Networking, but with strange behaviour for statistic data like the number of reads of works/articles. This parameter was once shown but is hidden now. They cut the self-created scientific Projects too, where you could interact with fellow researchers online,
cast new co-workers and deleted all related content. I am using RG since 2013 but
I am not really satisfied, with Academia too, both platforms lack important features and have big opportunity for improvements, especially features that they originally delivered.

Extremely poor customer service. I got in contact with them at least five times, but they never reacted. The issue was trouble by accessing my account.

The idea of the website is really good

The idea of the website is really good, but it is so poorly realized. Fake notifications all the time, a lack of functionalities such as seeing the number of citations for your papers in the profile (only available when you click on the paper). Also, the extremely user-unfriendly UX design when you are logged in makes their service TERRIBLE! Just use Zenodo or Google Scholar!

Blocked My Site Access

What a creepy platform. Its very paranoid security system blocks me from accessing it. Not everyone wants to make their personal identities easily known. They use methods to hide their identities that trigger these prying security systems... Literally 1984.

It's broken more than not

It's broken more than not. Trying to put up records, the whole case was gone. Reached out and was told it's a glitch. Finally the case showed back up but all the documents are hidden. Reached back out to be told it's the same glitch and the have no idea when it will be fixed. I mean, the only have 1 job, right? Go somewhere else and save money, frustration, and dealing with inability to do their one job!!!!

Quasi-useless Unfortunately

Unfortunately, Researchgate is TOTALLY USELESS (to me). I tried several times to get a paper/publication. I never got any response !
Too bad, the idea is good. Not practical.

So annoying

So annoying. Without any recourse, they just blocked my account claiming "suspicious activity". And there is nothing I can do?! Not a very useful service.

ResearchGate is dismissive of its subscribers

I found that the number of my citations on Google Scholar is larger by approximately 1000 (!) than on ResearchGate, and my h-index is higher (30 versus 29). Self citations or citations in theses cannot explain such a large difference. I am posting this review because ResearchGate does not respond to my inquiries (two by now, the first at least a month ago) on this subject. Moreover, when one finds their obscure telephone number, all it does is direct callers to email addresses. I find this conduct disrespectful and dismissive. ResearchGate must change its conduct or lose its subscribers. There are alternative websites.
