Great product, frustrating shipping and service
The Marcus Dining table is lovely - very attractive and feels sturdy. Unfortunately the shipping company Rove uses seems to have some difficulty keeping packages intact on cross-country trips. The first table we received came in a box with multiple holes and tears, and when we opened it we discovered 10-12 inch gouges across the surface, as if something had pierced the box and was dragged across the table. When Rove sent us a new table, the box it arrived in again looked torn apart, leading us to fear another damaged table was inside. Fortunately the packaging wasn't fully punctured, and the table was undamaged. While we very much appreciated Rove eventually sending us a new table at no cost, the initial customer service experience was frustrating - I felt as though we were being pressured to accept a discount, which seemed ridiculous - I was not about to pay $800 for a damaged table because the shipping company did a poor job. The customer service rep was also slow in responding - after I declined a second offer of a discount, I had to follow-up after nine days of silence.
So there was a happy ending - we now have two tables for the price of one (one damaged) but shipping and customer service were frustrating.
