They used to be amazing and then they were bought out by tech bros who continue to raise the prices on small practices and integrate AI without consent.. They're also embedding all these weird partnerships with companies we don't want anything to do with. I'm very concerned about what they're doing with the data and they are clearly profit over people.
I will give them 1 star since they do not offer any support for onboarding. It absoultely insane that you can't get a hold of anyone. Everything is via email- mostly AI-generated responses- that go nowhere. All they do is throwing videos at you and it is basically "sink or swim" not even with an occasional life support. ZERO TRAINING WHATSOEVER. I have worked with other EHRs. In addition, these are some of the cons:
1. The major fields - such as contact number or DOB are not "required"; which can cause problems.
2. You cannot search a client with their DOB- which is common among most EHRs.
3. If you make a mistake in upper/ lower case, you can't find the client, name has to EXACTLY MATCH
That is all I can say for now since I just started using it, hopefully I can find some PROS in the future and update this post.
I am in the process of leaving Simple Practice for another EHR. As is always the case when companies sell out to predatory private equity - customer service is non existent, price increases, expensive add ons that are unwanted but they require you to purchase, sneaky add ons like their AMA annual fee that other EHR's do not charge. Stay away from Simple practice and Make sure the EHR you move to is not private equity owned.
Support for providers is abysmal, you can't reach anyone without going through Ai hell. We make this business what it is with our paid subscriptions, we could at least get decent support. This is what they say: "SimplePractice offers very limited phone support for specific customer troubleshooting and account setup, and it does not provide a general public inbound phone service or an outgoing phone line for client communications."
SimplePractice is mostly what it says - simple. It does what it needs to do in pretty straight forward ways. What I like most about it, is that it is always improving. The development team is always asking for feedback and ideas for how to improve the platform. They have put out some very good updates that make me excited to continue using it. There are a few things that could be better - a dashboard to track clinician caseloads, a better calendar view for group practices, and specific profiles for supervisory billing based on clinician and insurance, but overall, the things it does do, it does well. I haven't needed to access customer support much because their help documents are actually helpful!
It used to be "simple" but now it's a mess. Constant pop ups and messages onscreen marketing enhanced services that we don't need/want. Clients are asked for credit card info to use the app - even if there is no patient responsibility. Not appropriate for services invoiced to a government agency. Can we please go back to the basics that we knew and loved? Sadly, the user experience on the provider AND client side is no longer simple. :(

I am a new solo private practice provider. I chose SimplePractice due to a colleague's endorsement. However, I chose SimplePractice for the Client Portal app for patients, the ability to set up a simple yet professional-looking website, and the e-prescribe feature. The only reason I don't give it 5 stars is that I can't order medications from a mobile app. I'm hoping this integration gets better with time.

This is the most efficient EHR I've used in my 12 years in practice. The consistently improving features for note taking support and comprehensive treatment plan building have saved me much time and energy. I highly recommend SimplePractice as a small business owner who also uses the EHR for clinical documentation.

No customer support apart from insulting form-emails and forwarded lengthy articles that never truly address your issues and just take away from your billable time. Their clearinghouse CONSTANTLY delays your claims, thus delaying you getting paid. Such delays are illegal for the insurance companies but somehow SimplePractice finds a loophole. By the way, if you ever get in touch with customer support (which is extremely rare) they play on your empathy as a therapist to talk themselves out of taking any responsibility for their defective, inefficient, system. Such is diabolical and predatory, in my opinion. Yes, they will bait you with flashy technical capabilities of their platform, but each of these cost a disproportionate amount. My advice is steer clear of SimplePractice. There are many other EHR’s that are way better (and some of these are exclusively for therapists. SimplePractice seems to devote all of their resources to their new psychiatry platform while leaving therapists in the dust). Remember, therapists, you are valuable and you deserve better than what SimplePractice can provide.
I have been using simple practice since 2021 and I have nothing but positive things to say. Whenever I ran into an issue it was quickly resolved. The AI experience has been super helpful as it helps with notes, treatment plans and treatment plan reviews. It also helps with check list for to do and review before each session. It truly has helped me to focus more on my clients and not spend so much time in administrative hours.
I started using Simple Practice in 2022 when I originally set up a mental health private practice. During that time the only complaint I had when trying to share documents with clients via their telehealth platform I was unable due to a glitch in their system. After attempting to resolve the issue through contacting customer service on numerous occasions, it was never resolved. Even during that time it was noted that their customer service support was on a decline. I reopened my practice in 2026 and decided to revisit SP as my primary EHR for my new private practice. Well not only the problem with sharing documents with clients via the telehealth platform is still unavailable due to the same problem but its impossible to obtain assistance through customer service. Which brings me to my recent issue. I called customer service twice in one week was put on hold for 30-45 minutes with a recording stating I could leave a message and someone will get back with me. Left a message, never received a callback. Finally, I sent an email two days later requesting assistance with creating and submitting an insurance claim. A response was received from a customer support representative. However, It's has been four days since responding with the information requested and still haven't received a response. Its important to have the ability to receive timely customer service when needed. Having access to good customer service when needed is primary, foundational and paramount for my business. If I don't have the ability to talk with customer support to assist with resolving something as important as an insurance claim means now its time to start searching for a company that can meet all of my business needs.

I’ve had a very positive experience using SimplePractice for my occupational therapy practice. The platform is user friendly and thoughtfully designed, making it easy to navigate through scheduling, documentation, billing, and client communication.
The onboarding process was especially helpful there are numerous educational resources, including step by step videos that walk you through setup, credentialing, and day to day operations. The initial onboarding call was also extremely valuable, as the representative took the time to thoroughly review each section of my account and ensure everything was set up correctly.
I also appreciate the integration of telehealth, customizable templates, and the overall efficiency it brings to managing a private practice. It has streamlined many administrative tasks and allowed me to focus more on patient care.
Overall, I would highly recommend SimplePractice to other healthcare providers looking for a reliable and easy to use EHR platform.

The software isn't bad but the lack of customer support is an abomination. The AI chat is useless and infuriating. The "Premium Phone Support" line doesn't answer or call you back. I have waited 5 days. I booked a video chat and the audio didn't work. I begged the agent to call me and she didn't. She sent me an email a couple hours later knowing I was unable to connect to audio and having asked her to call me. I have spent hours and they could answer my question in 2 minutes. I hate this software now. Shopping for something comprable and with LIVE SUPPORT. My biller has difficulties on the back end. Just over it.

I would caution everyone away from SimplePractice. I’ve have SimplePractice for 5 years. At first it was fine. Every single update they made cause some minor issue and some small things have never worked for me—benefits report for example. I enjoyed the platform enough that I continued using it. Now, it has caused so many numerous issues that it is basically unusable. The most recent issue is telling clients that their telehealth appointment is later when they are on time and I am completely unable to access group notes. I alert them of these issues and they take around 3 weeks to resolve anything if they do. They always start with “empty your cache” as if they don’t constantly have issues with their tech

Simple Practice has made my job very hard. They don't allow web form editing and we bought clinic sync pro so we could intake with our GHL crm, push them to Simple Practice, and everyone would be happy. NOT! Clinic Sync Pro is based in Australia and has 2 hours of office time per week, no phone support, and only $250 paid support for 30 minutes of their time, and bookings are a week out. Virtually no support. Simple Practice does not have an api and wont allow Zapier or webhooks that do anything useful for us. Their customer service people don't know much from my experience and I've gotten nowhere on this project in a week. We are implementing a different EMR with more standard features like an API and integration capabilities with a crm, but it's all unnecessary just because Simple Practice doesn't allow anything to be integrated. I've had a horrible experience thus far. And all we wanted to do is something SIMPLE!

I strongly advise therapists considering this platform to run the other way. I have been part of Simple Practice for several months and originally thought it was pretty great. UNTIL I now have a serious problem, A VERY serious unresolved problem. SP has a dummy client they call Johnny Appleseed that you can practice with. I got back from vacation to find that Johnny Appleseed (remember, FAKE person) had found a way to extract $140 directly from my bank account as a refund. PLEASE IF YOU'RE A THERAPIST PAY ATTENTION TO THIS NEXT PART. I have written maybe 15 or 20 desperate HELP requests through their platform. You will only get to talk to a bot. I searched the website for a phone number to call. There wasn't one that I could find. Another clinician let me know that she had a phone number, alas! I called it 5 times. Waited online over 20 minutes the first time then it broke the music and said there is no representative available, leave a message. I called and left 5 messages with a desperate plea. It's been 5 days since the hack. Four since I've tried reaching them. I have had to completely close down my business account and open two others. I am fearful to put my banking information into the platform because I do NOT know how it happened. I changed my password and added 2 step verification, and yet several times I simply opened the platform, and it went straight to my account. I asked a list serve of a bunch of therapists in the Austin area if they had any issues with SP and the answer was, YES. There is no customer service. You have to go through the AI service. You have to know a secret language to get the AI to escalate it. And then, if you're lucky enough for it to communicate with you, it will be days later. Meanwhile, my bank account could have been drained dry. I have charges that I need to run, but the financial aspect of my business is on hold until I know it's safe to put banking information in it. I am going to go on as many sites as I can as a warning. When dealing with banks, and people's personal HIPAA related information, there should be a well-trained staff that is easily accessible when things go wrong. Don't start with SP and find out the hard way as I have, because now I have all of my info in this one platform and I am going to have to spend time to figure out how to get it out for a new platform. They advertise that they have good customer support. THEY HAVE NO CUSTOMER SUPPORT. If anyone here knows all of the places I can give a review let me know. I'm not a part of social media, but for this alone, I am going to start that process. This is so very unacceptable and unprofessional. SP has tied up my ability to pay myself.

These people have the worst customer service imaginable. It’s clear they are trying not to help you as best they can. I have been using since 2020 and it’s really a scam, I am missing thousands in insurance payments due to software issue and they refuse to help.

This review is about my experience with on-boarding. I haven't been able to get past this process to actually start using their platform, so I hope it's worth all this hassle.
Overall, the people seem nice enough, but not very helpful. It takes a week to get an appointment if you have any questions. You can email them, but they will just send you a template response with a bunch of instructions that you're supposed to sift through to see which one(s) will actually solve your problem.
You are expected to do much of the on-boarding work yourself, which I guess is fine if help was readily available and not a week away.
Most frustrating is enrolling with the insurance. We are an established practice and the insurances already have our information. All we need to do is tell them to send the EOBs to Simple Practice.
However, there's no clear way to do this using their platform. You're basically given the same forms from the insurance' websites and asked to fill them out for each therapist in your group (so that's about 100+ forms for us), and then send them directly to the insurance companies. So again, no help at all from their end.
As I spend days and weeks navigating through all this, my free trial runs out and they want to start charging me though I haven't been able to use their platform, and don't expect to for another month or so.
I'm beginning to think this is not worth my time. If there are issues once we begin using it, I don't know if I can trust them to help us through them.
Update: I contacted the email in their reply and no one returned the email. I have made multiple requests for them to credit me an additional month since we still have not on-boarded and are not using their system. Crickets. They just don't seem to care about their clients.

Simple Practice Gaslighter
with no care or integrity towards its customers. They go to lengths to no let you use zoom so I had to change all the forms that force their link instead of my zoom link but that's not even the worst of it.
Situation:
• January 13, 2026: On the TherapyFinder website, my profile displayed the message:
“Is Rosy accepting new clients and do they offer online appointment requests? Rosy is currently accepting new clients but has not enabled online booking.”
This was inaccurate, as all my availability settings were correctly configured to allow online appointment requests.
• As a result, clients were unable to book appointments online.
• I contacted SimplePractice support (George F.) for assistance. Despite providing all relevant information and confirming my settings were correct, I received repeated explanations that did not address the root cause of the issue. Support implied the problem may have been on my end, which was inaccurate. Awful, evasive, and rude customer service.
• The issue eventually resolved itself, but no explanation was provided as to why the message appeared in the first place.
Impact:
• I lost valuable membership time during which clients could not book appointments, directly impacting my ability to use the service.
Outcome:
• 3/7/2026: I went to the Better Business Bureau and their response assigned fault to me because I didnt respond fast enough after responding 3 times already. They gave no proof and stated that it was during a free trial anyway. I cant believe the Better Business Bureau accepted this. I should get the same WORKING trial as everyone else and not have my livelihood compromised by the CHEAP non working EHR.
