The Sophos Endpoint product is solid…

The Sophos Endpoint product is solid and reliable. The UI is easy to navigate and messages about issues are clear and understandable. The recent upgrade to reduce resource utilization has been a great improvement. The reliance on known threats as well as the usage of machine learning and behavior detection make this product a good choice for endpoint protection art the enterprise level as well as the home user.

I didn't only geot infected (for the first time in years), but if what you are looking to get malware, virus, whatever, they provide. Free of charge.
Can't say what is as Bitdefender is still searching (standard scan) and has already caught 5 something that shouldn't be here.
Want to get out?
Well, I had to go to their GPT, because neither Claude Opus 4 or ChatGPT paid version could answer correctly. It's like buying a anti malware which is itself one.

Do not buy from a company that will refuse to install what I paid for.

I myself was sent email called "naked security" from Sophos I thought trying a different software might be good to use however I was lied to by a certain someone about Sophos. I then tried to get help and they did anything to keep me at a distance and when I found they have a refund policy they wrote it did not apply to me and therefore after buying there was no warning that if I do not use it I will be charged again for unused software a year later. They then came like pack of angry wolves until I proved they took money out my bank account with out my permission. Sophos is not my kind of business to buy from ever again it would be foolish to ever buy from them again knowing what has happened to me first they do not warn me about buying there software that they never intended to install on my computer because I use Window 7 pro they never intended to refund me after I tried to use it they just kept me at a distance and they had the nerve to sell me more when they knew I was using Windows 7 Pro they created a story about things that never happened I am fortunate they had to give back next years however they still refuse to give back the year before that they refused to install.

Uninstallation hell

Downloaded the trial. Very intrusive software didn't like it. Uninstallation is extremely complex, documentation on their website is outdated, have to run CMD tools, disable nonsense toggles hidden in the app, multiple restarts. Honestly this feels more like a virus than an anti-virus, stay away don't give them a penny.

Literally beyond painful to have on…

Literally beyond painful to have on your PC. Does nothing useful and prevents even normal simple programs such as steam from operating. Also if it’s business software you can’t even access it yourself or uninstall it. Waste of time, money and my patience. Highly recommend that everyone avoids this software like the plague

Hours of support just to register a firewall - still not showing up in Sophos Central.

So far 2.5 hours to get my firewall registered in Sophos Central. I have been transferred from support to customer care and now am on hold for support again. Both reps said my firewall was registered more than once, yet when I go into firewall management the firewall is not there. No way on God's green earth that it should take this long to do something so simple.

Garbage

Garbage. Worked at first, but since early 2023 has increasingly slowed down my mac (which is kept up to date) and all its applications. Causes spinning beach balls. Crashes applications. It has been uninstalled and reinstalled. It was set it up as instructed. It was updated. All to no avail. On the last reinstall, it blocked all web access, so I couldn't even make changes to the web-based preference board. I had to uninstall it to get back online.
Avoid this at all costs.

Challenging Experience with Sophos Support for HA and Hardware Issues

Sophos' support is TERRIBLE, outside of the obvious and ordinary issues.

We had an HA issue with our Sophos XG Firewalls that started in May of 2023; after a month of being bounced around support centers around the globe due to time difference, we were finally escalated to development which diagnosed the issue as a software bug. It took development until August to devise a solution, leaving us without a working HA until August 2023. We attempted to implement the bug fix as instructed in August but discovered a hardware failure of the standby FW. A replacement was sent, and another attempt to install it was made in November. When we attempted to install the patch this time, the support rep found the replacement device was once again faulty and required to be replaced. Unfortunately for us, this time, we did not have licensed replacement services, and we had to wait three weeks to process an order for this service. On the day we received the replacement, the primary license holder appliance that was still functioning also crashed.

This left us with a FULL OUTAGE!

We recovered from a backup to the replacement we had just received but ran into a licensing issue, which took Sophos support 3 weeks to understand and resolve. Apparently, transferring a license is very complex and requires 3 levels of support.

At this point, Sophos support didn't see a need for the patch on our device because we performed a full restore. As it stands, in February 2024, we were about to test the HA failover, but in the prechecks, we discovered that the firewall had disconnected from Sophos Central and would not reconnect. The status of the HA is listed as healthy, but the registration link to Sophos central on the device lists a status of "Auxiliary device status: Couldn't get the registration details. The device is offline."
Online forums are stating it might be another hardware failure, but support is once again researching.

Overall, it's been a nightmare! We are 9 months into an issue with multiple hardware failures. Support takes 24 hours to respond, no matter how severe the problem is. Support is mainly in India or other regions, never in the US. They call you back for critical issues but are unable to resolve them; they just transfer you to another team or tell you that they will get back to you in 24-48 hours.

If you don't experience an issue, the product works well and is "easy" to navigate and set up. Overall, avoid Sophos due to the lack of enterprise-grade technical support.

But I think that Sophos is the best security system I ever tried. And I have been working with computers since 1989.

Absolute nightmare

Absolute nightmare, nothing ever works properly or first time, new support portal you have to register for and then wait ages to be approved before you can log a ticket. Support has really gone down the pan. Wish we had never renewed hardware with them. In 3 years will move to another vendor.

They cold call me every day

Somebody from Sophos has been cold calling me virtually every day for the past month despite me never having been a customer. I have repeatedly asked to have my data erased under GDPR laws but to no avail. The calls come from different mobile and landline numbers as well as withheld numbers so are difficult to ignore when you are expecting other important calls. Pretty ironic for a company publishing blogs about stopping cold callers and scammers.

Sophos is great if you have advanced…

Sophos is great if you have advanced knowledge or if you work with a great Sophos Partner. Most of the bad experiences that I have experienced are with improper setups which isnt usually the customers fault rather the Sophos Partner that gives them poor instructions. I'm glad Sophos is providing more customers with health checks so that they can understand the issues that they are experiencing.

Before I found it was Sophos that was causing a problem I did several clean installs, checked RAM thoroughly, threw away loads of software and replaced my internal drive. Getting rid of Sophos cured it all.
And in a quarter of a century of Mac computing I've never encountered a virus...
