Another Victim

I am genuinely disappointed to have to write this review, but after witnessing what my mum has been forced to endure, I feel it is important to share her experience and hold Spring Health accountable for the way this situation was handled.

My mum worked for Spring Health and, after an issue involving Deel resulted in her wages being stolen as well unauthorised advances being taken out in her name. She was left without the support or reassurance she deserved from her employer. What is particularly concerning is that Spring Health chose to work alongside a company that was responsible for handling its employees’ payments, yet when something went seriously wrong, my mum was left feeling as though she had to deal with the consequences alone.

Her wages were taken from her without her involvement, and despite the seriousness of the situation, she was not adequately supported or reimbursed. Instead, she was left dealing with the financial and emotional consequences of something she did not cause or authorise.

As an employer, I believe Spring Health had a responsibility to properly support my mum and advocate for her when something went wrong. Instead, the lack of communication, reassurance and meaningful assistance has been extremely disappointing.

I hope Spring Health reflects on how this was handled and recognises that employees should not be left feeling abandoned when their wages and financial security are affected. Working alongside another company does not remove the responsibility to support your own employees when they are put in this position.

If sharing my mum’s experience can help even one person think twice about who they trust with their employment and wages, then I feel it is worth speaking up.

Truly saved me

I started a new job and was extremely anxious. The company offered Spring Health as an employee benefit which was great. I was given 8 free sessions, which was very clearly communicated to me. I was able to find a therapist that aligned with my preference which was a male with a faith based background. It allowed us to connection beyond just therapy. He was able to guide me through the first few months of my job and, honestly, I only needed about 4 visits to feel like my anxiety was in control. They also referred me to a medication manager who helped me try some meds that have been extremely helpful. I feel like this is a benefit that every company should provide.

Stay away - serious safety concerns

My experience raised serious concerns about client safety

I have been a therapist for more than 20 years, and client safety is one of my highest priorities. Based on my experience with this company, I had significant concerns about how potentially high-risk clients are screened and supported before being connected with a therapist and allowed to book a session. For example, patients are not required to enter basic demographic information that would serve as a safety guard in case of clients who need immediate assistance and potentially need to be referred to a higher level of care due to immanent risk.

Before working with the company, I was given information that led me to understand that clients presenting with significant safety concerns would be prescreened and that care navigators and crisis resources would be available when needed. My experience did not match those expectations.

In my experience, responsibility for assessing and managing significant suicide risk appeared to fall primarily on the individual therapist as in my case not even basic demographic information was provided for a high risk client. I was concerned about the amount of client information available to facilitate emergency intervention when necessary.

I believe therapists considering working with this telehealth EAP platform should carefully investigate its procedures for suicide-risk screening, crisis response, emergency contact information, local emergency resources, and referral to a higher level of care.

My concerns are specifically based on my experience and the procedures I encountered while working with the company. I would encourage other clinicians to obtain clear, written information about these safety procedures before accepting referrals involving potentially high-risk clients.

Billing horrible

They will estimate your copay and bill you 6x as much. They didn't charge until 4 months after session. Billing gives vague, unclear answers. They said they escalated but never did. I had identical sessions and was charged 6.2x as much for one of them without being notified. Most sessions were around 30 minutes but they charged my insurance for 60. They are just sketchy.

Does more harm than good. The billing department is not willing to work with you at all, about charges you were never informed of. I wish I never participated. I would NOT refer someone here for help.

Charged me without my permission and…

Charged me without my permission and without notification (going against policy to do this) and refused to refund until my provider explicitly said I wanted a refund, even though she waived the fee I was originally charged for, so the money was just sitting as a balance on my account. Despite numerous requests for formal complaints, they refused to acknowledge this or rectify the situation that is now going on two weeks of barely any response.

This should have been easy

I have a diagnosis and have kept the same medication schedule for almost 20 years. There is absolutely nothing complicated about my situation. My PCP prescribes the meds now, since I’ve been on them and stable for so long. I have no need or desire for therapy. My best friend was dying though, and I have extensive experience with grief. I knew I would need a medication adjustment. I knew what medication it would be, since I’d been on it in the past and had paperwork to prove it. It was not a controlled substance. The only reason I stopped taking it was because it was difficult to find and it makes me very sick to stop it suddenly. I explained this to the psychiatrist and she wrote me a prescription. She wasn’t very professional, but I didn’t care because, thankfully, I didn’t need her support. Everything was fine until she didn’t bother showing up for my appointment the next month. She also didn't cancel. So guess what? I’m without that medication and once again very sick, which was great to add to the grief. Customer service promised to get me in touch with someone else or to get the prescription from the original doctor. The next person cancelled on me last minute and the prescription never came, despite many calls. I had to go to an online doctor who was willing to write me a prescription for enough to wean myself off of it. I made another spring health appointment for a month later with a different doctor. Fortunately (I guess) my best friend died right before this next appointment, so I no longer cared when that doctor cancelled too. It’s all the right ingredients for suicide; I have to give them credit for that.

Billing and customer service is a joke

Billing and customer service is a joke. Have had issues with billing: Not knowing how much we were going to be billed (billing cost and coverage tab has never worked), auto pay not being done in a timely manner ( starting seeing therapist in late March/early May and wasn't pulled from account until mid July), showed up late to first appointment due to tech issues and promptly received a late fee. Had months delay on receiving refund and had to go through bank to fix. Months later a missed appointment due to emergency and therapist said contact SH, SH said contact therapist for refund. After confronting both with emails contradicting each other received refund and decided services we're not worth the headache any longer. Had to create separate email accounts to have children seen vs just setting them up under adults so it creates additional monitoring of accounts to manage everything. Extremely frustrating service to deal with online. DO NOT recommend!

Terrible

Terrible. Their therapist must have received their degrees from a Cracker Jack box. I had a horrific experience and detailed it in multiple surveys and not a single real person reached out to me.

Scam...they just want your money

Scam...they just want your money. They offer free coaches who recommend counselors. Then they send bills to minors instead of parents. They reschedule without informing you and then charge $160. After 30 days there is nothing you can do. You speak with someone and they say you'll go to collectors after making you feel like it's your fault even though they don't send you the right information or timely information. They target minors with their billing. They don't help you find the right person. 1 out 5 counselors were actually guiding and know how to be a counselor. Read other reviews, the negative reviews are correct.

I would give them ZERO stars

I would give them ZERO stars if I could. PLEASE, FOR YOUR LIFE, do not use any therapist from their website. Scroll down for the unbiased review, since my therapist and I wrote it. *

SPRING HEALTH HASN’T HELPED ME AT ALL! They’re an awful middleman for the insurance and provider. Spring Health decided to financially wreck me, causing undo harm to my mental health. I was in a serious accident and ended up in the hospital for 2 days. This happened the morning of my appointment to see my regular therapist I’ve been seeing for the last 9 years. He was absolutely concerned for me, and didn’t mind rescheduling my appointment. Spring Health decided that wasn’t good enough, they billed me for the session, $260, saying my emergency could have waited. I needed to give them 24 hour notice when rescheduling. Spring Health is a monster, and I will be calling Pennsylvania Insurance Commissioner.

*if you have a patient therapist, please ask if they can signup for S.H. My therapist was approved.

Unauthorized Transaction/Bad Billing Practice

Spring Health Balance billed my bank for an unauthorized transaction without my permission. They are also not supposed to bill me for copays at all, let alone collect them, because I have QMB status, which is a protected Medicare status for low income families, which also means that it was an illegal practice on two fronts! They have ignored my requests for a refund so far.

Disgusted

Their advertising is intentionally misleading. Nothing about this company is “affordable”. 215 per session, billed weeks after visits so you’re not aware what debt you’re encompassing. Despite being recommended through employer, zero discounts, zero insurance adjustments, and self pay rate for same therapist is $75 cheaper - 140.
It is shameful that a company would intentionally exploit a vulnerable population, there is a special place for people like this, no escaping judgement in the end, hopefully the greed is worth it now.

I tried to establish care and…it ended up being a never-ending irritation.

I tried to establish care and Springhealth was appealing since you could gain access to a provider same week. My goal was to meet twice weekly with a provider, but also use my own time to work towards a sense of calm. I introduced myself and shared what I was hoping for within the first 3-4 minutes - think along the lines of recommendations for books to read on my own or types of classes to practice mindfulness, etc. He shared bluntly that he wouldn't provide any extra self-focused therapy recommendations "because he didn't believe in it and based on my needs, he didn't think we were a fit." The call ended at the 5-minute mark and he/Springhealth still charged me $153. They didn't submit the claim to my insurance for over 3 months, and their website will not allow payment. I have been trying for days to get in touch with customer support, to no luck. All around horrible experience.

What a terrible experience

What a terrible experience. I had an intake session scheduled. My own job needed me to be on a meeting at 8:30, but that still left 30 minutes for me to at least meet a new provider. The therapist cancelled on me at 7am (appt was set for 8am). I was ready at 8, which meant starting my day earlier to make this appt. Not only did she cancel at 7am, but she BLAMED IT ON ME so she would get paid that late cancel rate. So then my morning turned in to talking to customer service who DEFENDED her. My message to her CLEARLY stated that "at the worst case scenario, we can meet for 30 minutes before my ..." What a crappy way to start out a day. I wanted to start therapy due to stress, and Spring Health just ADDED stress to my morning... and now I have to find a new platform cause I'm definitely NOT using SH!!

Don’t ever associate with spring health. They overcharge and then refuse to call you to discuss. I have been trying for a month to figure out my charges and can’t schedule a session for therapy. . They are supposed to provide mental health services and they are giving me mental health problems!

This is an unprofessional inattentive…

This is an unprofessional inattentive company that cause more issues than not. Care coordinators are not knowledgeable and misguide you casing many issues specially if you’re on medical leave. I’ve had the worst experience requesting medical forms, medical records, and anything related to doctor’s referrals; they jeopardize my RTO and work and my STD extension was not approved due to their lack of professionalism in submitting records requested so I was not paid for 6 weeks. They also refer you to the wrong doctor within spring health and charge for evaluations they referred you wrong in the first place. Avoid this company at all cost.
