My physician gets 5 stars for…

My physician gets 5 stars for compassion and accommodation. Refills never an issue. Never cancels an appointment.

Prior to this physician I had another one cancel while I was in the virtual waiting room. They tried to bill me for a canceled appointment. I repeated that SHE canceled while I was in the room. I had to go full Karen for the woman on the phone to listen to the words coming out of my mouth. I told her now I require 24 hours notice before a cancellation, and now require to be compensated for my time. I’m still waiting and am quite serious.

Also…when the doctor that I LOVE says that I will be sent information on different treatments he recommends I receive nothing. Again, I reached out asking why, and received a reply that they have identified a problem with the communication, and the issue has been resolved. It’s been about a year and no information has been received.

$12,000 + in bills fully paid on time, and they couldn’t get me the treatment I needed. The psychiatrist stellar, everyone else abysmal.

In short (too late) it’s sad that you have to go full Karen to get anything accomplished in this world. I’m experiencing traumatic grief. I saw my mother’s murder. I shouldn’t have to go through this when I’m doing everything right to help myself. I’m currently not as resilient as I am normally.

I was charged 658.00 for 1 appointment…

I was charged 658.00 for 1 appointment for anxiety and depression was given a prescription for 1 medication. I have insurance that paid a little over 400.00 and they took 213.00 off of my debit card that I never authorized at all. I never gave them my debit card information whatsoever. I cancelled my 2nd appointment 3 days in advance because I cannot afford to be charged like that with no warning of what I am being charged. Now I am really depressed and suffering from anxiety after dealing with this. I think that is highway robbery. I still can't figure out why I am being charged almost 700.00 for 1 appointment.

Talkiatry charged $710 for 45-50min…

Talkiatry charged $710 for 45-50min with a therapist that was simply reading back the things I told him using an AI companion. There was no indication that I would be charged, and every indication that the initial visit was free. If you have had a similar experience, I would recommend filing a complaint with the New York AG, the AG of your state, the BBB, TINA.org etc... This organization is scamming people that are already in vulnerable positions

MyDr was very professional and thorough during my first visit. He took the time to carefully evaluate my concerns, explain the treatment plan, and make me feel comfortable and at ease throughout the process. I truly appreciated his approach and professionalism.

Fuller Understanding

I've only seen a psychiatrist one other time in my life and they would see me for 15 mins, rush through everything to get to the meds. She never really understood what was going on with me in full. At Talkiatry the session was an hour long. The therapist asked great questions to understand, didn't rush but wasn't too slow. She seemed to genuinely be interested in understanding what was going on with me in full, the whole picture. I feel confident in this psychiatrist that I can get some relief.

Predatory

This is a predatory, scam business. DO NOT trust them with your credit card. In my case, I spent half an hour trying to get the decrepit old coot (retired psychiatrist) to speak into his mic because he couldn't figure out how to make the platform work. By the end of it, I was told "gee, your problems are way bigger than telehealth, I refuse to assist with anything, you should go see someone in person". Fast forward months later and they are repeatedly trying to hit my card for HUNDREDS of dollars........for absolutely nothing. For the record, none of that is correct but if the dusty "professional" had any idea what he was doing, that ship sailed away in the 1950's. There is no customer service that will even so much as listen to the issue. This service strictly exists to remove money from people going through a tough time, they lie about their fees, and hide behind internet anonymity. Bottom of the barrel scum.

Not a good option for psychiatry help.

I gave Talkiatry a chance because I was genuinely struggling and needed professional psychiatric help. Unfortunately, I regret that decision.

Getting the appointment itself was a mess. I never received the appointment link and had to contact Talkiatry to fix issues with my account. When I finally connected with Dr. Akbar Salman, the connection was terrible. I could barely hear him and had to repeatedly ask him to repeat himself.

I was already extremely distressed, but I did my best to continue. He was unable to access my medication history from Emory and Piedmont, even after I specifically asked him to review it. After only a brief conversation about what I was experiencing, he told me I needed to find someone else and abruptly ended the appointment. I also asked for a school note and was told no because he wasn't going to be my doctor.

What makes this even more concerning is that my insurance was charged for TWO appointments that same day: one for 40 minutes and another for 30 minutes, when our appointment didn't even last 30 minutes.

I went into this appointment needing help, and honestly, I left feeling even more distraught than when I started. I understand that a doctor may decide they're not the right provider for someone, but the way this was handled felt dismissive and incredibly upsetting.

I trusted this platform with my mental health at a very vulnerable moment. I expected basic communication, preparation, and compassion. This experience gave me none of those things.

I would not recommend Dr. Salman or Talkiatry ever!

I would give zero stars if I could

I would give zero stars if I could. The appointment was 1:30pm my time, 3:30pm her time. I was told on the phone it was 11:30am her time and 1:30pm my time, but got reminders for both 1:30 and 3:30. First red flag. Next, I joined the online visit a few minutes early. No one ever joined. 10 minutes later I got a call from one of their employees telling me she'd send an alternate link due to the link not working. I joined that one. No one joined. I called, and got notices that the visit was cancelled. The agent said the doctor had been waiting the whole time and I was never there. Seems like whoever sent the second link didn't even let the doctor know. I asked the last agent to remove all my information per HIPAA and send me confirmation when done and he said he can't promise that that would be done. Super unprofessional

Poor communication, no empathy

My initial appointment was positive, but after being hospitalized with a serious medical emergency, the follow-up care was dismissive and showed very little empathy or concern. I expected much better communication and patient care from Talkiatry.

Left Feeling Hopeless and Unsupported

I had a very disappointing experience with Talkiatry and would not recommend them based on my experience.

I scheduled an appointment because I was struggling with severe, longstanding anxiety and had finally reached out for professional help. Before my appointment, I completed a detailed intake letter explaining my history, symptoms, and what I was hoping to get help with. Unfortunately, the provider had not reviewed it, so I spent much of my appointment repeating information I had already provided.

The appointment lasted approximately an hour, but I left without a meaningful assessment, treatment plan, medication guidance, or clear direction about what to do next. I was told that the provider could not help me and would not be taking me on as a patient. I was also told that Talkiatry would provide me with resources for another provider, but those resources were never sent.

I was then left with hundreds of dollars in charges for an appointment where I did not feel that I received the psychiatric care or guidance I had sought. I am currently disputing the charges with Talkiatry and my insurance company because I have concerns about whether the services billed accurately reflect the services that were provided.

Seeking mental health care can be incredibly difficult, especially when you are already struggling. I went into this appointment hoping I would finally get some help and instead left feeling hopeless and incredibly discouraged. I would not use Talkiatry again based on this experience.

I love that Talkiatry is making mental healthcare more accessible for everyone. The ease of identifying a new provider was seamless. I’m grateful to have found a new provider who is compassionate, kind, approachable, and easy to talk with. Would recommend to anyone seeking psychiatry care.

This service is wonderful!

This service is wonderful! I made an appointment online and was seen 3 days later. I really like my provider; I found him to be empathetic, kind, and attentive. He actually listened to my concerns, answered all my questions, and single-handedly put so many other doctors I've seen in the past to shame. He was not rude, or dismissive, or condescending. I have only wonderful things to say about my experience with Talkiatry so far, and I'm looking forward to my appointment next month. I will absolutely let all my friends and family know about Talkiatry. It's so easy, convenient, and accessible to everyone. I rarely if ever leave reviews for anything, so the fact that I'm even leaving one at all, let alone a glowing one at that, should tell you something. Try it! Nothing is more important than your physical and mental health. Times are difficult right now, so be kind to yourself. Make your health a priority--it's a gift to yourself you won't regret 😊
