Do Not Buy: "The Gift Card Shop" Takes Your Money and Delivers Nothing
I received a Hallmark card advertising a "Digital Gift Card Inside," powered by The Gift Card Shop. The sender generously gave me a $100 gift card. On Saturday, I followed the instructions, scanned the QR code, and successfully completed the redemption. I immediately received an email confirming Order #2006437967. It is now Thursday, and the actual gift card has never been sent.
I have called their customer support three separate times. Each time, I am handed a script promising the email will arrive "within 24 hours," and I have had them re-send it multiple times to no avail. During my third call, I was escalated to a "specialist" and even provided a brand-new email address to completely rule out spam filters. Still, nothing has been delivered.
The fact that the order confirmation arrives instantly but the product does not is incredibly suspicious. This system feels intentionally designed to create frustration. Because these are gifts, they rely on the fact that recipients feel too guilty to tell the sender that their money was wasted. It borders on predatory behavior. Do not buy these for your loved ones—you are paying for them to be left empty-handed.

This company is a fraud. I don’t think they actually have the money to pay the gift cards that were purchased. Their excuse is fraudulent activity. Really. I couldn’t even open the email from this place. Oh yeah, the customer service absolutely sucks. Avoid the problem, use a legit company.

Poorly built site and terrible user experience
Poorly built site and terrible user experience. I tried to purchase a few custom debit cards and kept running into a "We are unable to process your order" error message that did not offer a clear explanation why they failed. I checked with my credit card company every time and was told the transactions were not blocked. It's quite obvious that The Gift Card Shop doesn't care much about their customers.
[UPDATE]: Thanks to The Gift Card Shop for reaching out with a response form, but by the time I saw it, the 3-day deadline to complete the form had already passed.
