Stay far away from using Trivago.
Trivago is absolutely the worst booking service one could possibly use. Stay far away. My wife became very ill from the smell of the room we were staying in. The Hotel manager wrote a detailed and kind letter to Trivago management asking to release us from our reservation. Trivago would not, costing us $800. You cannot talk to a manager at Trivago. They don't respond to emails. They string you on and exhaust you. Use other booking sites.
Trivago is scammer
First time in my life, I tried trivago.... now I am frustrated for choosing the app.. I chose one destination but they diverted/ misled me through another site super.com and made me to book and pay for another destination hotel, which is very far from my place.. But when I spoke to the hotel, they have cancelled my booking and sent an e-mail to the agent (this is another party)who booked on behalf of me but super.com, demanding me talk to the hotel people get a written confirmation of the cancellation and send it to them then only they will process refunding matter. Is this my job or agent's job to do?? I'm trapped now... Never I'm going to use trivago in my life. They don't deserve a single star.
NEVER, NEVER AGAIN!!
I booked through Trivago and when we arrived at the hotel we didn't have a reservation. The Trivago site kept spinning saying it was progressing. 20 minutes later it still had not confirmed our reservation. It was aggravating and embarrassing. I called Trivagos customer service, talked to some foreign lady and it took me several tries to get her to understand my problem. She finally said she would report it to someone and they would call me back in 15 to 30 mins. Meanwhile. there we sat outside the hotel ... waiting! Finally Trivago people called and said it didn't go through. I didn't understand what they meant. My card or what. They canceled the reservation. Thank goodness the lady at the hotel was so very nice. She gave us a hotel discount and upgraded our reservation to a better room because of all we had been through. I used the same credit card which worked just perfectly. I think Trivago should recompense me for all my trouble, time and aggravation! I will Never, Never book through Trivago ever again! Done!
Invalid reservation
I booked 3 nights at the Lyon campsite.
Arriving at the site, the campsite cannot find the reservation and claims that it does not work with Trivago. I had to pay for the 3 nights again.
After contacting you, you asked me to send you the invoice for reimbursement.
To this day, I have still not received anything and I have no news. I am very unhappy.
First time using Trivago
First time using Trivago, and booked through Super.com. Was automatically subscribed and my credit card was charged. Ridiculous. I did cancel and ask for a refund, and hopefully that goes through without a hitch, but did get a message about, "If you are charged again..." Seems one might as well skip Trivago and just pay the hotel directly to avoid these potential third-party scams.

Terrible hotel search platform which directs booking to booking.com who I found to be terrible and unable to be contacted and my communications were returned as undeliverable. This explains th ed very poor rating on Trustpilot. Looks like the only person happy with Trivago is Juergen Klopp! Found booking directly with hotel was cheaper! The first and last time I will use this platform.
Terrible customer service
Terrible customer service. All the computer could do is loop. Never any communication with a human. Their ads are false.
Is this a scam
Is this a scam?
Booked a room for tonight at 11 am with a 2pm check-in, they billed me, said they’re checking with the hotel and would get back to me, didn’t. The website couldn’t find my booking number. I had to track down the phone number, while I’m traveling so am roaming. It’s 3:30 pm, the guy didn’t know if I had a booking or not.

SCAM
SCAM! A Complete Nightmare That Ruined Our 10th Anniversary
This was supposed to be a very special trip to celebrate our 10th wedding anniversary, but instead it turned into one of the most stressful, heartbreaking, and disappointing experiences we have ever had.
We booked a 2-night stay at a resort on an island in Kerala through Trivago. Since the resort can only be reached by boat, we called the hotel on the day of our booking to confirm the exact location and transportation arrangements.
That’s when the nightmare began.
The hotel told us that they had no booking under my name and did not recognise the booking number at all. We were completely shocked and left stranded in an unfamiliar place with our 6-year-old child, only to discover that the resort was already fully booked.
We then desperately tried to contact Trivago for help. To our disbelief, there was no customer service phone number and no live chat where we could speak to an actual person. The only option was to submit a request and wait. We were told that they would try to resolve the issue within 24 hours.
24 hours? We were already stranded, with a young child, on what was supposed to be our once-in-a-lifetime anniversary celebration.
We lost our money, but honestly, the money is not even the worst part. What hurts the most is that we lost a day that we had been looking forward to and planning to cherish for years. Our 10th anniversary, a milestone that should have been filled with happiness, beautiful memories, and celebration, was instead filled with anxiety, frustration, helplessness.
I would strongly recommend thinking twice before booking through Trivago. A booking platform should not disappear behind a “submit a request” button when a customer is stranded and desperately needs help. This experience has left us feeling cheated, helpless, and deeply disappointed. Booking number - 13410911
Avoid Trivago at all costs- could vive -100 stars if I could
Avoid Trivago at all costs. This was by far the worst booking experience I've ever had.
I had to cancel my trip 12 days in advance because of a serious family medical emergency involving my father. Instead of helping, Trivago immediately passed me off to a third-party booking company and completely washed their hands of the situation. My reservation was eligible for a refund, and I submitted all the required emergency medical documentation, yet the third-party company never responded. Trivago did absolutely nothing to step in or assist.
Because I received no support or communication, I was forced to go ahead with the reservation without my family member. I even asked for a simple modification to the room, and they wouldn't help with that either.
Trivago advertises itself as a convenient way to book travel, but when something goes wrong, they accept zero responsibility. You're left chasing an unresponsive third party while Trivago refuses to take ownership or provide meaningful customer service.
If you value your money, your time, or having someone help you when unexpected emergencies happen, book directly with the hotel or use a reputable booking platform instead. I will never use Trivago again and strongly recommend that others avoid this website altogether.

I have had some ok experiences but they don't check their info. I booked a place and when I got there it was over booked. They would not give me my money back. I no longer trust this site. I no longer use it

We booked what trivago advertised as a 2 dohuble bed room in hotel but when we arrived trivago had actually booked us in a 1 bdouble bedroom room.we needed 2 double beds in a room but we were scammed and had to pay out an extra £70 at the hotel.i think trivago are pointless.use booking.com who are trustworthy or call hotel direct.there are no real savings using trivago.they let us down

I have never used trivago and will never use them again I made a booking 3 months in advance and wanted to change the dates not even to get a refund I want to change the booking from Friday to Monday to Saturday to Tuesday saving them money and not asking for a dollar in return and they still were not able to help me it is beyond frustrating they have no body to call just people who take your request then they send an auto generated email 20 minutes later saying they still won’t help you
Poor booking interface and non-existent…
Poor booking interface and non-existent customer service if you have a problem. Trivago changed my selected dates to stay and booked those instead. When I reached out to Trivago, to get the problem resolved, they did not return any messages and they only sent generic AI generated responses via email. Left my wife and kids stranded in Springfield Illinois with zero help.
Horrible experience with Trivago…
Horrible experience with Trivago booking.
Hotel: Home2 Suites by Hilton in Oklahoma
Confirmation #: 13415123
Dates: July 30, 2026 – August 1, 2026
Be careful when booking through the hotel website! The reservation link redirected me to Trivago without making it clear it was a third-party site.
I booked a 2-night stay for $425, but realized the address on the confirmation was for the wrong location (there are multiple franchises in the area). Since I was traveling for a family wedding, I needed to be at the location where my family was staying.
The hotel staff at the North 135th St Oklahoma City, location were incredibly helpful and sympathetic. Also, the hotel manager and staff at the Meline Drive, Edmond were amazing and tried to transfer my 2-night stay ($425), but Trivago refused to cooperate, unwilling to help, and refused to release the funds. I was not asking for a refund—just a transfer to the correct location 19 minutes away.
They had already charged my card upfront for the full amount and held my money hostage. Because of Trivago's refusal to help, I was forced to pay twice for the same stay and lost $425 on a room I never used.
The on-site Home2 Suites staff were wonderful but Trivago’s customer support was dismissive, unhelpful, and entirely uncooperative.

I used Trivago to book a hotel in Iceland. Upon using one of their recommended sites, I booked and paid in full for a 3 night stay in Iceland. This was in September 2025. I arrive in Iceland in July 2026 expecting a reservation. I find they had booked the room and then cancelled it, I called their 24 hour customer support and they would get back to me in 30 minutes. 3 hours later they call and informed me of a complete refund. No help it getting a new hotel room. They left us stranded in Iceland on our own. No help what so ever. And told it was a technical error.
DO NOT USE TRIVAGO!!!

Tried using Trivago but kept getting a message I needed to talk to a representative. When I dialed the number they gave me I was put on hold. After over 10 minutes i hung up and used a different website. Trivago is a joke.
Trivago ripped me off
Trivago ripped me off, robbed me, stolen, and this illegal unless laws have changed.
DON'T, DO NOT, NEVER, TRUST TRIVAGO.
Trivago has hidden fees-booking directly or ANYWHERE else is cheaper
So trivago offered a price about $11 less than the hotel itself. But when I got to checkout the fees were more than the total price I would pay directly with the hotel. The explanation was that Trivago has to pay fees to the vendor. So when you see those commercials with that really annoying guy berating a friend for not checking Trivago that price he mentions is without fees. So that friend paid less!!!!
