Previously Approved 61 Releases All Rejected as “Suspected AI Generated Content”

TuneCore’s support and release review process has been extremely frustrating.

I previously had 61 releases approved and distributed by TuneCore for approximately a year. After my subscription expired, those releases were taken down. I later subscribed again specifically to re-release my existing catalog.

I submitted the exact same masters, metadata, ISRCs, and UPCs from the previously approved releases. Surprisingly, every single re-release was rejected as “Suspected AI Generated Content.”

What makes this especially concerning is that my new releases are not experiencing the same issue. The problem appears to be specifically affecting my previously distributed catalog.

Some of these recordings are also still recognized by YouTube Content ID under my artist name even after the DSP releases were removed.

I am not asking TuneCore to bypass its policies. I am asking for a proper manual investigation into why recordings that TuneCore previously approved are now being rejected when submitted with the exact same masters and identifiers.

A generic AI rejection is not an adequate explanation for this situation.

Very disappointing experience, especially after trusting TuneCore with my catalog in the first place.

Had to contact Tunecore about an issue…

Had to contact Tunecore about an issue with one of our YouTube videos being blocked. Tunecore responded to my support request on the same day and the problem was resolved within 24hrs. Great communications between all parties and a perfect outcome.

Avoid using if you can

Avoid using if you can, Distrokid is definitely a better service (only using Tunecore as I can't upload the ISRCs I need to Distrokid as they were created on a different DK account and they block that for some reason, the only negative comment about DK).

The user interface is rubbish, in all black and gets stuck often if you don't follow the odd layout properly (which isn't easy).

Every release I've made has been rejected for the most obscure comments on track length, artwork layout/text or colour and the titles of several tracks had to change just to follow their guidelines.

Annoyingly all these issues were fine with Distrokid and didn't get flagged. Tunecore wouldn't release 2 tracks to Apple/iTunes due to the artwork, even though they were already on the Apple/iTunes from the previous distributer.

Customer support are difficult to communicate with and depending what tier you're on, take 2-3 days to reply to basic questions.

Wish I'd gone somewhere else than Tunecore, don't waste your time with them.

The absolute worst

The absolute worst. My email got hacked YEARS ago. The only way you can contact them is via the email linked to your account. I has been hacked. I have been unable to cancel this subscription that I no longer use for years. Taking payments of nearly £50 over and over again and I can't contact them about it.

FRUSTRATING and TERRIBLE

1 word: frustrating. They trick you into thinking it’s a good service with a nice looking website but the service is terrible. I’ve uploaded 6 singles and an album and EVERY SINGLE TIME there’s an issue. Always something they’re not happy with. Every time it’s within their guidelines and I tell them and theu just reply with “oh yes sorry. Now we’ll submit it”. Such a waste of time and energy also because they reply after 48 hours so to have a 2 minute conversation and clarification can take a week and it delays everything. And they change their rules and guidelines so each time you find out that something has to be changed that previously was allowed. I categorically dislike this service and WOULD NOT RECCOMEND. If I could go back and change I would. The website looks nice but it’s incredibly clunky, glitchy and complicated.
So to sum up:
AWFUL SERVICE
FRUSTRATING to use
A MESS of a website
USELESS AND SLOW CUSTOMER SUPPORT.

Do yourselves a favour and don’t use them. Please. I’ll pay you not to. I thoroughly hate Tunecore

No human customer service

No human customer service. AI agents continually respond to my emails even after asking for a human manual review. They keep rejecting my karaoke tracks saying they were "AI generated" even though they released my original versions. This is nonsense. Do not pay annually for this company. It's a waste of time and money.

Withdrawals frozen for over a year — but subscription fees still auto-charged

I've been a TuneCore artist for years, and my experience with account holds has been extremely frustrating.

In June 2025, TuneCore's Copyright Administration team informed me that withdrawal functions on my account (and two other accounts linked to the same payment wallet) were being blocked due to "multiple reports of copyright infringement" — no specific evidence was ever shared. The timing strongly suggests this was triggered by a withdrawal request rather than any genuine content review, since all three linked accounts were flagged simultaneously, including one with a completely clean history and no claims whatsoever.

Over a year later, I still cannot withdraw my balance. The platform simply displays a generic message that withdrawals are "temporarily on hold" due to an "unresolved store claim or additional suspicious activity" — with no timeline, no specifics, and no way to actually resolve it. I even removed and reconfigured my withdrawal payment method entirely to rule out a technical issue, and the hold persisted regardless.

What's most frustrating: while my withdrawal is frozen, TuneCore continues to auto-renew my subscription plan and charge the fee directly against that same "frozen" balance. So the funds are apparently accessible enough for TuneCore to collect from, just not accessible enough for me to withdraw.

I filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau, which was closed after TuneCore repeatedly disputed a resolution, with BBB stating they had no power to compel further action.

If you're considering TuneCore and have a healthy amount of royalties building up, be aware that getting access to those funds is not guaranteed, even when there's no real evidence of wrongdoing on your account.

They stole my money

Absolutely ridiculous platform. Customer service is even worse. They stole the money I made from my music and then claimed I had fraudulent activity and permanently closed my account. Don’t bother giving them your money or time. Go elsewhere. Extremely unprofessional.

Scammers

Avoid this at all costs; it’s absolutely impossible to stop your account renewal on your own: you have to contact customer service and hope they respond. Otherwise, a workaround might be to open an empty online bank account and then add it to your Tunecore billing settings, but it’s a long and tedious process that leads nowhere. They’re outright scammers: think carefully before committing to them.

This is a terrible company

This is a terrible company. They say and confirm everything initially, but after taking your subscription fee, they deny it and steal your listening rights and subscription fees. They are absolutely untrustworthy; stay away from them.

To TuneCore Legal & Support,

To TuneCore Legal & Support,

For 3 YEARS you have withheld $7219.18 from my account [mailin] with NO explanation.

3. All evidence supporting your claim

Failure to provide this will result in formal complaints to:

I have all streaming data, contracts, and records ready.

GenAI Nightmare

I’ve been with TuneCore for several years, but my recent experience has left me deeply disappointed.

One of my releases was rejected under TuneCore’s GenAI Music Content Framework. The problem is not simply that the release was rejected – it is how the situation was handled.

The music in question was composed, performed, produced, mixed, and mastered entirely by me using conventional industry-standard tools such as Omnisphere, Keyscape, and Diva. No generative AI music tools were used at any stage of the production process.

TuneCore repeatedly informed me that their review process had identified a tool used during the creation process that allegedly relies on datasets that are not fully licensed. Naturally, I asked which tool they were referring to and what information or documentation they needed from me to review the decision.

Unfortunately, those questions were never answered.

Instead, I received multiple responses repeating the same policy language and advising me to review the documentation of my tools. When I explained that these are conventional virtual instruments used throughout the music industry and asked for clarification, TuneCore still refused to identify the specific tool they believed was the issue, provide any evidence, explain their review process, or tell me what documentation I could submit to challenge the decision.

As a customer, I find this extremely frustrating. If a company is going to reject a release based on an AI-related determination, it should be able to explain what triggered that determination and provide a meaningful review or appeal process.

My disappointment is not with the existence of an AI policy. Companies have every right to create such policies. My disappointment is with the lack of transparency, the inability to obtain clear answers, and the fact that I was effectively accused of using non-compliant AI tools without being given any evidence or opportunity to address the claim.

I hope TuneCore improves its review and support processes so that artists receive clear explanations and fair treatment when disputes arise.

I am lost for words

Although I never write reviews I feel this is a very important one to warn others. I made the account on trustpilot just to write this review.

I have been on tunecore since 2016 - Yes, for 10 years. In a blink of an eye, all my tracks were removed, account suspended, and all my money earned through royalties have been stolen by Tunecore.

Their reason is simply "irregular streaming activity linked to your release". They dont specify what release, or any evidence what so ever.

I ONLY use meta ads for my music through a landing page, and I have shared all the meta ads invoices and screenshots of my meta ads account with them, without any success. I am in the process of re-uploading all my music through another distributor... Its devastating to be honest, I am empty for words.

I urge you guys to use another distributor other than Tunecore, for your own sake! Take care!

Zero Customer Support

They distributed my music so that's a win. It was my first release and they don't share your artist bio or any other details so that's a nightmare. Also zero customer support. Their ai support bot got stuck in a loop, never even allowing me to file a ticket.

BEWARE - leave them and have all your music pulled

BEWARE! I have been with TC for about 6 months or so, migrated from Distrokid. TC's engine, tracking, etc, is all very robust and communicative but I just last week stumbled on a very dark side of their operation, by accident. I wrote them simply to ask if my payouts from Spotify, etc, plays would still travel through to my Payoneer account (you are shoe-horned into Payoneer when you go with TC). Their response was this, from a "Charley C.":

6/25/26 -"To answer your question directly: when you close a TuneCore account entirely, your releases must be taken down from all platforms, including Spotify."

This was mortifying of course and I shot back that I didn't sign up with them to become a Tunecore junkie and WHY exactly were the compelled to take down ALL my music (with them I suppose, hopefully not with any other distro service I'd uploaded from elsewhere)? Was this part of their fine print or? I have got nothing but silence since then. Maybe they're too busy taking down people's music, or their c.s. guys don't know what they're talking about and are misrepresenting the whole thing. This is abominable if true, and I've never heard of another distro service doing this. Distrokid certainly didn't when I left them, and CD Baby doesn't either. Some musicians have dozens/hundreds of songs/albums up there, I luckily as yet only have about ten tunes, but I am on twelve playlists worldwide and it is still and enormous hassle and whiplash to have all your stuff pulled and then have to re-upload it. I will modify this review on further clarification and evidence of a lighter touch.

Free plan is a lie

Tunecore saying they provide free plan and when you open the account they ask for payment or u can just choose free plan ,you choose free plan and when creating release you get asked to select a payment and there is nothing called “free” at all

Tunecore has turned into a scam site

Tunecore is now saying everyone's location is in India by default, so you have no choice but to use "Payoneer" for payouts, and they make it super hard to sign up for it, they are hoping you just give up so they can take your money. This use to be a good service, but it's gone full on scam now.
