Vets Now provides this trusted service to more than 1000 veterinary practices across the UK — from over 60 dedicated out-of-hours clinics and two 24/7 pet emergency hospitals. In total, we treat around 200,000 small animals every year — our highly-skilled team works hard throughout the night, weekends and Bank Holidays. So whether you’re in Aberdeen, Belfast or Portsmouth we’re there for you and your pet when you need us most.

We’ve also pioneered other ways to help pets, pet owners and the veterinary profession, such as our comprehensive referrals service and providing our staff with industry-leading training and development opportunities. Such a caring and calm team...

Such a caring and calm team, we were seen really quickly, explained everything very clearly and answered all our questions. Looked after our dog so well during an overnight stay. Would definitely recommend if you're in the unfortunate position of needing emergency care for your loved 4-legged family member.

excellent care…

Our cavapoo received excellent care over the bank holiday weekend. Vets were extremely professional, diagnosing her condition and starting her on the right treatment. They took time to explain her condition to us which we appreciated greatly. Thank you!

Jury's Out

Fantastic at treating my dog, although quite expensive!
After being told the cost would be recovered through my insurers they treated my dog. After treatment they wanted full payment from me, then accepted part payment, the rest they would sort out through my insurers. That was over 6 weeks ago and they still haven't done it.
Very efficient at treatment, very expensive, not that efficient at finishing the process.

Although the vets were good the pricing…

Although the vets were good the pricing was appalling. Charging £78 for something that costs £10 online or £20 at my day vets is daylight robbery. Charging £20 to dispense peg drug is an absolute scam. My vets do not charge this. I understand a call out charge as such but the drug prices were absolutely disgusting. Shameful taking advantage of desperate pet owners

Went to emergency vets

Went to emergency vets, was told on call dyuring the booking that when i go I could use Klarna to pay as prices are extortionate. Only when i get there the receptionist said no u cant, we only take klarna at certain times of day, which is ridiculous. There was a room full of people waiting and they only had 1 vet working

The loveliest vets and incredible…

The loveliest vets and incredible service! Our cockapoo started limping on a bank holiday Sunday evening and her paw became very inflamed.

We called Vets Now, and Benji on reception was brilliant. He explained the out-of-hours fee, gave us other options (did we want to wait until tomorrow to potentially see a vet that’s not out of hours? Could the appointment wait?) and listened to our concerns. He booked us in straight away and we headed up to the practice.

After the vet nurse triaged our dog, the lovely vets came and explained what needed to happen. They did a small surgery to investigate, and located a tiny grass seed that had embedded itself in her paw. They did the procedure there and then, and we took our girl home just an hour and a half later with some antibiotics.

Amy the vet was absolutely lovely. She didn’t rush us, gave us time to ask questions, and had a calming and caring manner about her.

I wouldn’t hesitate to go back if we ever needed to, although we all hope we don’t have any emergencies with our pets.

The bill was surprisingly reasonable for the service we received, and we had lots of support with how to claim our money back from our insurance.

Thank you to the lovely team. You clearly care for all the animals who come to you, and you really put us at ease at what could have been a stressful time. Thank you!

Miss diagnosed my dog

Miss diagnosed my dog. Wrong treatment given. Issue was neurological not soft tissue. Delay in correct diagnosis meant more suffering. I was charged £420 for the service. I would have been better off not going at all.

Calm, friendly, professional treatment

As our dog had suddenly collapsed we were obviously very distressed arriving at your practice at 10pm. However, the calm friendly welcome we received was much appreciated posted. The nurse was so kind to us & Cleo & despite having to wait due to an RTA dog arriving we were very happy with the service we received.
The vet advised keeping her overnight which we were anxious about but felt it was best. Collected her at 7.30am the next day.

Ad-hoc visit for dog check up.

We visited Vets Now in Glasgow for a checkup of our dog, after he sustained an injury during play.
They were expecting us, showed us in a private room (as our boy is reactive to other dogs) and offered us refreshments.
Shortly after that, a nurse triaged our pup, and a bit after a doctor examined him.
Everything was done fast and with professionalism, which put our minds to ease (he was fine after all).

Please stop the harassment and hounding

I wrote a review a few days ago giving a 5 star rating which I still stand by staff vet fantastic I cannot complain but we agreed a payment plan of the £330 bill paid £200 on the spot,
Over the past week the hounding for the outstanding balance is unrelenting nearly every other day, it’s disappointing when a company starts putting money as there number one priority and I’m becoming very annoyed that it’s a disappointment after all the good work you did,
I will never have another animal in my life it’s becoming a nightmare taking on rescued cats that you thought was a good deed only to find out it very become a total disaster,
Please stop the hounding I told the staff it would be paid on the 5th of September which is next Saturday I don’t need reminding nearly every other day it’s even on my calendar,

All the staff were lovely

All the staff were lovely, from the women at reception who made a fuss of our dog to the Vet Wm Marshall, he spent time to show us the x-rays for our dog and to
discuss options

He was very good with Moray and was aware and careful not to cause too much discomfort for him.
He listened to our concerns and gave us honest feedback, we really appreciated his time
Definitely recommend them to others

I am extremely disappointed and…

I am extremely disappointed and heartbroken by my experience at this veterinary practice at longsight road, clayton le dale blackburn following Bailey’s visit.

When I took Bailey to the practice, she was clearly very unwell. She was panting, shaking and struggling to walk, breathing heavily ( more than 50 breaths per minute) Despite how poorly she was, I was told that she had a tummy bug and was given medication for this. Her symptoms did not look like a simple stomach problem to me, and sadly, it turned out that there was something much more serious going on.

Bailey was later found to have heart problems or a mass and, just 24 hours after I first took her to this practice, I had to make the heartbreaking decision to have her put to sleep.

What I find hardest to accept is that Bailey had to suffer through another night when, in my opinion, further tests should have been carried out much sooner. Given how unwell she was, I feel that a second opinion should also have been considered. Another vet may have recognised the seriousness of her condition and advised us that the kindest option was to put her to sleep and prevent further suffering.

I was charged over £400 for the consultation and medication, which ultimately felt like a waste of time and money because the diagnosis was incorrect. However, the money is not what matters most to me — it is knowing that Bailey was suffering and that I feel more could have been done to find out what was really wrong with her.

Bailey was panting, shaking and could hardly walk. These were very worrying symptoms, and I am deeply upset that her condition was treated as a tummy bug rather than being investigated more thoroughly.

Losing Bailey has been devastating. I will always be left wondering whether her suffering could have been reduced if further tests or a second opinion had been sought sooner. I sincerely hope the practice reflects on what happened so that another pet and their family do not have to go through the same experience.
Why do we pay 3 times more for medication when its out of hours?
Why does it cost more to run a practice through the night? I get cheaper electricity after 12am so I thought it should be cheaper to run.
I have now had to change my vet for my other dog so I do not have to come back to this company again. They are not vets, they are business people who just think of the money.

Always kept informed of plans by vet

Everyone was friendly. Kept informed of plans for investigations. Felt my cat was looked after well. My only negative is the handover to my own vet. Although a report was sent to him, it only listed investigations and not results which wasn't enough. If it isn't possible to do a computer transfer then maybe a phone conversation would be useful.
