Beware of unexpected repair cost

Beware of unexpected repair cost. I had to pay 321 Euro for a small scratch on the plastic part of the bumper I am quite sure I did not cause it but could not prove it wasn’t there from the start. In contract terms, the company’s conditions state that any damage visible or not reported at start can be considered the renter’s responsibility

WeVan (Alexandra) bought our Mercedes…

WeVan (Alexandra) bought our Mercedes Vito to Toulouse airport, which made a huge difference after flying half-way around the globe.

The Van was immaculate (almost new) and we had very clear instructions.

Upon completion of our trip, WeVan arranged airport pick-up again, which was very helpful!

Bravo!

Do not trust this company!!

Do not trust this company!!

We returned the van as instructed (to a car park with no one there to meet us or inspect the van) and alerted them that we had left it and asked them when our deposit would be released. They responded 4 hours later to say someone was on the way to get the van. We followed up a few days later as had received no more communications and no indication as to what was happening with our deposit. A dispute began as they were claiming we had scratched the van and they would charge us for it. We knew we had not scratched the van so made it clear to them if something had happened with it being left in the car park this was not our responsibility. They lied and said they collected the van a few minutes after we left it. I had to send screenshots of prior communications and point out that they had not collected the van until hours later. We then looked at their app to see what damages they were accusing us of, and it was clear they were trying to charge us for scratches that were already there when we collected it. The before and after photos they had taken for their app were not clear, Thankfully we had taken our own videos and photos or the van before and afterwards and could prove they were already there. If we hadn’t done this we would have been charged for damages that were already on the van when we collected it!!!! They told us they agreed we had not caused it and would release our deposit within 10-15 days. We returned the van on 9th July, they told us on 12th July the deposit would be returned in 10-15 days (I have this in writing!), it is now 31st July and we still have not got it back. I am now being called rude because I have told them they are not trustworthy.

A company to avoid at all costs!!!

We-Van in Bordeaux, great experience

We had a great experience renting from We-van in Bordeaux. We hired a Hanroad Trek 5 (which we loved) and the handover performed by Manon was very comprehensive and not rushed. Fortunately for us, the We-van staff spoke good English too. The return was equally straightforward and we would highly recommend hiring from them.

Pierre and his team were very professional and helpful from my initial email contact, all the way through to our van delivery and pick up from our accommodation in Bordeaux.
When we next visit Bordeaux with our group, I will not hesitate to contact Pierre at WeVans.

We have previously used traditional car hire companies when we have been to Bordeaux, but not anymore.

WeVans is our new go to van hire company.

WARNING

WARNING. WeVan are UNTRUSTWORTHY CON ARTISTS. We recently returned a van to WeVan and since then they have made us PAY FOR DAMAGE WE NOT CAUSE and caused us stress and worry.

They have charged us for damage that we did not cause. We were not given full chance to inspect the vehicle - we inspected it at first but then during the demonstration further photos were taken by WeVan of parts of the van that were opened up during the demonstration (like when the pop top was open) and we weren’t aware that they were inspecting the vehicle still as we were concentrating on listening to the demonstration instructions provided by another WeVan employee. WeVan took zoomed out photos that do not clearly show the condition (we have asked for clear photos but they have refused to provide this evidence). When we opened up the pop top for the first time after we had left the WeVan premises, we noticed a rip in the pop top. We immediately took a photo of this, as clearly the damage was already there. WeVan have now charged us for this damage. Damage we did not cause. We are still disputing this damage but WeVan have taken the money anyway.

When we inspected the body work of the vehicle we noticed a lot of scratches that the WeVan employees did not see or point out to us. They are clearly not very thorough. If you hire from here, you need to inspect every centimetre of the vehicle and make sure you open up all parts of the vehicle to avoid being made to pay for existing damage and improve their vehicle. This cannot be reasonable.

There was no one present on site when we dropped the van off, despite WeVan usually being open on a Saturday (the employees were attending a meeting). If they had been present when we returned the van, we could have explained this but were not given the opportunity. THIS IS POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE.

WeVan are LIARS. I urge you to go to a more respectable establishment.

Je tiens à vous rappeler que lorsque nous avons récupéré le van, la tente de toit se situait en dessous du lit (chose qui ne doit normalement jamais arriver). Nous avons alors eu des difficultés à la redéployer...

Concernant la tente de toit craquée, je suis d'accord avec vous sur les dimensions que vous mentionnez, mais sachez qu'en cas de déchirure, il est nécessaire de remplacer l'ensemble de la partie endommagée pour garantir l’étanchéité de nos équipements, ce qui implique également des coûts de main-d'œuvre et de temps en atelier.

Je vous ai répondu à ce sujet en vous fournissant une photo, qui correspond à l'état des lieux de départ que nous avons tous deux validé par mail (Weproov) et que vous avez signé. Cela confirme votre accord sur les éléments signalés. Vous êtes parti à 14h00 et avez ensuite pris une photo de la déchirure à 22h00. Plusieurs événements ont pu survenir entre ces deux moments.... Il est également notable que vous ne m’avez pas envoyé cette photo le jour même, mais seulement lors du retour, lorsque j'ai constaté l'état du véhicule. J'ai toujours pris en compte les signalements de mes clients lors de leur voyage, sans jamais remettre en question leur bonne foi.

A propos de mon silence, je ne peux pas répondre aux nombreux emails que vous m'avez envoyés chaque jour, car cela n'est pas une démarche productive. Je suis responsable d'une entreprise et je m'efforce de maintenir un dialogue constructif.

En ce qui concerne les frais de nettoyage, un forfait est effectivement appliqué lorsque vous emmenez votre chien, pour couvrir d'éventuels poils et odeurs, car ce n’est pas le même nettoyage que lors d’un usage classique. Je tiens également à préciser que si des frais de nettoyage vous ont été refacturés, c'était en raison des dommages causés par l’urine et l'état du réfrigérateur. Souscrire un forfait nettoyage ne dispense pas de rendre le van dans un état respectueux.

AVOID AT ALL COSTS

We hired a van from WeVan Amiens in September because the reviews on Google were all positive. Sadly our experience was the opposite of this.

If you are unfortunate enough to hire a van from here as we were, ensure that you not only take photos and videos of the outside of the van, but also of EVERYTHING inside of the van too (with the roof extended if it has a pop top and collapsed) from different angles, but also everything inside the van as well, including unzipping and rezipping vents during photos and videos.

Our van had a small (less than 0.5cm) tear in the vent which we noticed when the pop top was first lifted. However because we noticed this after leaving We Van, we have been charged €300.

Julie at WeVan has no photos showing the vent without the tear prior to us collecting it and refuses to respond to us about it.

Also note that if you are bringing a dog, you will need to pay a cleaning charge. This is in line with hotels etc and to be expected. However note that with WeVan, this cleaning charge is not actually a cleaning charge, so you would be expected to clean it still….. this was not mentioned when we asked about any associated charges for having a dog, so is another thing to watch out for if you are considering hiring a van from WeVan.

I would strongly urge you not to hire a van from WeVan.

Make sure you film every part of the car before leaving the agency. I had to pay 321 Euro for a small scratch on the plastic part of the bumper. I am quite sure I did not cause it but could not prove it wasn't there from the start.
