Edit: The customer service came through and I got a way better refund. Waiting for the money now. Would I recommend? Yes - but you have to cooperate and be willing to hand in all the paperwork. Three stars because of the initial hiccups

Would I recommend Zasta? Probably not.

First off, the interface is easy and clean. You can start the process right away and do not have to deal with filling out many forms. However...

1. The UX could be improved. When filling out the tax returns, you feel as if you chuck your info into a black box. When uploading documents, you get the option to only upload once. After that you have to contact CS.

2. The message option is bad. You have no option to send a message yourself, you have to talk about other refunds in a year unrelated to it as you cannot open a new message for every tax refund und it cuts off the message while writing so you never see your whole message.

3. Most importantly: I did not get a great tax advisor. The person made a mistake in every year that I handed in, and I had to chase them painstakingly to get corrected tax refunds with the actual info. REALLY BAD if I py up to 250 € per return.

Bottom line? Zasta — never again.

Fast end easy

Process is super easy to understand and provide is transparent from the very first onboarding page. It might be not the cheapest option for sure, but I would say one that delivers fair tax return. In my case I could increase tax return in an official way by adding kids expenses which I didn’t know are covered.

If you want to file faster tax return, Zasta is the way to go.

Everything was easy just answer a few questions and get your Steuergeld back.

It was an amazing experience. I was assigned to some tax advisor who basically took care of everything for me. The application is awesome it informed me about every step. I got like 723 back but had to pay like 200 as a fee but that’s okay.

Unfortunately, English is still not supported. Otherwise I would have submitted with Zasta, as their processing fees had best price/quality ratio.

Zasta should finally add English, many expats living in Germany would appreciate that.

I have used Zasta for 3 years, and everytime things go smoothly without problems. You get notified about important things during the process. The Zasta app is relatively easy to use. For all the years I did my tax refunds, the amount I paid to Zasta is fair for the work they do.
