Considering 652 reviews, most reviewers were let down by their experience overall. Many customers frequently complained about unhelpful customer service representatives, long waiting times, and extreme difficulties resolving flight issues or getting proper refunds. Travelers also experienced frustrating seating policies that separated families, alongside disorganized ground operations and very long delays at airport check-in desks. Though some reviewers faced major problems throughout their trip, a few other people felt that the onboard flight attendants were consistently friendly and polite. Some people also mentioned encountering individual staff members who went out of their way to provide helpful and comforting assistance at the airport.

Awful experience from start to finish

Awful experience from start to finish.
Flight delayed by over 4 hours - journey was only an hour! It’s ok we got given a £5 voucher - try buying anything at the airport for that price.

Then we sat in an extremely hot plane on the runway for 30 mins as they loaded the cases very slowly. Children crying as a result of the stifling heat. You wouldn’t treat animals like this.
Nobody seemed in any rush - watching the staff and grounds people was like watching a film at half speed. Staff seemed disinterested throughout.
I’ll not be flying with these clowns again

Appalling experience : Irish flag carrier is just another low cost disregarding legal obligations

Aer Lingus : Let me remind that airport taxers are of mandatory refund under French Article L. 224-66 of the French Consumer Code requires the refund of taxes. The only conditions being : The ticket must no longer be valid and passengers not have taken the flight. I don't see what needs to be assessed or processed in that regard. Just let me remind that Aer Lingus has 30 days to comply with that.
Even if the flight is unrefundable, those taxes do not belong to Aer Lingus ior travel agency.

Sounds like Edreams & Aer Lingus playing ping pong with me. See both messages bellow. Aer Lingus saying "because your booking was originally made through a third-party travel agency, this refund cannot be processed immediately without the third party submitting it first. In order for the funds to be released, the travel agency must submit the refund request on your behalf.
And eDreams replying :" We must inform you that in order to initiate the refund process for the taxes, you will need to contact the airline directly."

In any case, we'll see with the onbudsman and since those taxes are meant to airport you are retaining money that does not belong to any of you.
I will report this on social media as well since i guess it the only thing that matter
In France, under the Consumer Code (Article L224-66), if you do not board your flight—whether you missed it or cancelled it—the airline is required to refund you for specific boarding-related taxes (such as the QW airport tax or the QX passenger fee). Even if your ticket is "non-refundable," this tax refund is strictly mandatory. The airline does not remit these taxes to the State since you did not fly.

Aer Lingus has informed me that I must submit the refund request through eDreams, the company with which I entered into a service contract governed by French law. It is up to you to ensure that your service provider complies with the law and refunds the taxes owed to me. I have therefore also referred the matter to the French tourism ombudsman/ european consumer website before filing a formal complaint.

A con of an Airline

A shadow of the airline it used to be, essentially mutton dressed as lamb. South Tenerife in particular is without doubt one of the worst check in experiences. They sub contract that part out, however I pay Aer Lingus for my flight so they are responsible for the complete mess it is, wholly disorganised, chaotic and where skipping of the check in queue is common place leaving those in need without a designated queue. I intend never to fly this airline if possible. Too many bad experiences, would give a negative score if possible.

Damaged baggage – beware of the reporting process

My suitcase was substantially damaged following an Aer Lingus journey. I subsequently made an online damaged baggage claim within seven days and had photographs and supporting documentation available.

Unfortunately, I later discovered that I had followed the wrong route on the Aer Lingus website.

The damaged baggage page contains a link to **WorldTracer Passenger Self Service**, which must first be used to report the damage and obtain a Damaged Baggage Reference Number. Farther down the same page, however, there is a large green button prominently labelled **“Damaged Baggage Claim.”** I naturally clicked that button and believed I was following the correct procedure.

Aer Lingus subsequently refused to consider my claim because I did not have the WorldTracer reference.

I accept that I missed the WorldTracer requirement, but I believe the webpage is unnecessarily confusing. If that reference is mandatory, the claim form should make this absolutely clear or prevent a claim from being submitted without it.

**A warning to other passengers:** if your baggage is damaged and you do not obtain a report at the airport, do not simply click the prominent “Damaged Baggage Claim” button. **Use the WorldTracer Passenger Self Service link first and obtain your Damaged Baggage Reference Number. Do this within seven days of receiving your baggage.**

I hope Aer Lingus improves the webpage so other passengers do not make the same mistake.

Long-standing loyal customer, but recurring IT issue is incredibly frustrating

Long-standing loyal customer, but recurring IT issue is incredibly frustrating

I have been an Aer Lingus and AerClub customer for decades, and until recently, online check-in was something we had done for years without any issue.

In July 2026, travelling from Dublin to Gran Canaria as a family of five, we suddenly could not check in online. Aer Lingus customer service discovered that ALL FIVE passengers' dates of birth in their system were incorrect by exactly one calendar day. The dates were corrected, but online check-in still failed, and we eventually had to queue at the airport to resolve it.

Now, less than two months later, exactly the same thing has happened again for our Dublin to Malaga flight. Once again, Aer Lingus found that all five dates of birth were one day out. They corrected them and confirmed the correct DOBs and genders with me, yet online check-in still does not work.

I have spent considerable time on phone calls, live chat, social media and submitting a formal complaint. I have repeatedly asked for this to be escalated to someone who can investigate the underlying IT/data issue rather than simply being told to check in at the airport.

I have also discovered that the DOB on my long-standing AerClub account has somehow changed by one day and my request to correct that remains unanswered.

Five passengers, two separate bookings, months apart, all with DOBs shifted by exactly one day, is clearly not a simple customer data-entry error.

We fly tomorrow morning and, despite all the time spent trying to resolve this, I still have no confirmation that anyone from the relevant technical team has actually investigated the problem.

This is extremely frustrating from an airline I have used loyally for decades. The flights themselves are generally good. The problem is getting a recurring technical issue taken seriously and actually resolved rather than passed back to frontline staff or the airport.

Boston Ground Staff Need Training

Such an insanely poor airline. We flew from Boston to Glasgow, with a connection in Dublin, having been forced to do so by a BA cancellation. The staff in Boston could only have been ruder if they'd kicked me in the face. They spoke only rudimentary English, didn't listen to a thing I said or asked and they resorted to shouting by the end of the interaction.

Apalling Customer Service

Our flight was cancelled, absolutely no help at all from any Aer Lingus representative, had to find our own accomodation for the night which was very expensive. Called helpline and was told by the agent that there were no flights from Malta to Dublin for 6 days (even after we explained we had a wheelchair user in our party with limited medication with him who needed to get home) which was a blatant lie as we found one ourselves for 2 days time which we had to book and pay for. All they did was try and persuade us to take a refund. Don't know how they can treat their customers this way. Apalling.

Our experience was with an outstanding gentleman named Gavin . We were traveling to SFO 07/09/2026 , my friend wears a neurological device, called an op tune it is four lithium batteries and is attached to her head, she had all her paperwork, but he moved us straight up to a desk was beyond helpful. Did all the checking made her feel comfortable he could not have done more. I wished I’d gotten his last name, but hopefully you’ll be able to recognize him the airport was extremely busy and he took time out of his morning to not just send us to another queue. He guided her and her husband through it all. Thank you so very much.

DO NOT USE AER LINGUS

Absolute con artists of a flight company.
Booked to return from Dublin, Aer Lingus changed flights to over 2 hours early, have to cancel arranged activities for Dublin. Refund of only 25 cents offered on a 255 euro flight. Later flight for 200 euro offered, absolute disgusting and joke of an airline. DO NOT USE AWR LINGUS

Appalling Customer Service and lack of accountability

I’m not someone who normally writes negative reviews, but after two separate experiences with Aer Lingus, I feel I have a genuine reason to share this.

Last year, I repeatedly tried to use my Aer Credit Card “free flight” benefit to book flights to Madrid and Seville. Despite seats being available to paying customers, I found the benefit extremely difficult to redeem. After several attempts and formal complaints, I got nowhere. On one occasion, a customer service agent told me I “expect too much” and then hung up on me mid-sentence. For a customer service agent representing a national carrier to express such a personal opinion and behave in that manner when a customer is simply seeking help is particularly appalling.

I have now had another disappointing experience. My husband and I booked our November flights to Gran Canaria back in March and, in good faith, paid extra for specific exit seats, which were confirmed on our booking. Aer Lingus subsequently changed our return flight, requiring us to extend our holiday, and a later schedule change resulted in the exit seats we had paid for disappearing from our booking.
When I contacted Aer Lingus, I was told the seats were now not available and I would be refunded. However, it then emerged that the Aer Lingus agent who originally took our booking had made an error when charging for the exit seats. As a result of Aer Lingus’ own error, we have now lost the exit seats we specifically paid for and are being told the refund cannot be processed. We have paid in good faith for something that was confirmed to us, yet we are the ones left with nothing.
I completely understand that flight schedules can change. What I find difficult to accept is the lack of accountability when the problem is caused by Aer Lingus, and the difficulty in getting a straightforward resolution.
Two separate issues, but unfortunately the same experience: poor customer service, little accountability and the customer left to deal with problems that are not of their making. I genuinely wish I had a more positive experience to report.

IAer lingus do not consider covid serious illness

It seems Aer lingus do not consider covid to be a serious illness. II canceled my flight due to positive covid test. I was refused a refund. The health of other passengers is apparently not a concern so dont cancel your flight if you test positive that is if you want your money back.

If I could give nil I would

If I could give nil I would, trying to change a flight to the day before, 3rd time of trying I got a lady who knew what she was doing, she was arranging the change when the line dropped! I called back but the person I spoke to said they couldn't find the flight and continued to tell me this is the only flight, I asked why the previous person found it and they said, you will have to look on line, so I went on the chat and asked if they could put me through to the person who helped me, they couldn't but said if the call drops they will try calling me back 2 times (they didn't) then add a note on the account, they did add the note but still no-one could help. I've flown with Aer Lingus a few times but haven't needed to make any change. I tell everyone what a great airline but after this I wouldn't!

Absolutely atrocious

Absolutely atrocious. Never again will I fly with this at best substandard airline. The flight was late by 2 hours for my connecting flight which was by them also. Almost 2 days before I can get another flight home and even then yo a different airport that my car is at.

Put up in a hotel with food I would give my dog.

I will never ever use this airline again

Extremely poor handling of a cancelled flight – unacceptable customer service

Extremely poor handling of a cancelled flight – unacceptable customer service

Our Aer Lingus flight EI0120 from Orlando to Dublin was cancelled due to adverse weather conditions. While we fully understand that weather is outside an airline’s control, what we found completely unacceptable was the way Aer Lingus dealt with its passengers afterwards.

There were approximately 300 passengers affected, yet we were told that Aer Lingus only had around 100 hotel rooms available. This meant that they simply could not accommodate everyone. After an already stressful cancellation, passengers were left trying to find their own accommodation in Orlando.

We had to arrange and pay for an additional 2 nights at the Hyatt ourselves, while at the same time losing our prepaid hotel reservation in Dublin. Instead of being looked after and properly informed, we were left dealing with the financial and practical consequences ourselves.

Communication throughout the disruption was extremely poor. There was no clear information about what was happening, when we would be rebooked or what passengers were expected to do. We eventually had to wait two days for our next flight.

We also had onward travel arrangements to deal with, which added another layer of stress. Trying to get assistance from Aer Lingus customer service was incredibly frustrating at a time when passengers needed the airline’s support most.

The issue here is not that bad weather caused a cancellation. Passengers understand that airlines cannot control the weather. The issue is how Aer Lingus responded once the cancellation happened.

If an airline is carrying around 300 passengers, it should have an adequate contingency plan for a major disruption. Having accommodation available for only around a third of the affected passengers and leaving everyone else to fend for themselves is simply not good enough.

What should have been the end of our holiday became two extremely stressful days of uncertainty, additional expense and poor communication.

We have travelled extensively and understand that cancellations happen. What determines whether we would use an airline again is how they look after their passengers when things go wrong. Unfortunately, based on this experience and the extremely poor customer service we received, we would seriously reconsider travelling with Aer Lingus again.

Cancelled our flight from MCO to DUB…

Cancelled our flight from MCO to DUB and told to come back the next day at 1pm to check in for a 4pm replacement.

The replacement was never arranged and nobody from Aer Lingus was in the airport to provide information. They didn't communicate via email, SMS or phone calls.

Instead, we were told to go away for another day and then come back for a flight without any information again.

Save yourself the hassle, travel with anybody but this airline. Unprofessional and cruel doesn't quite cover how bad these people are. The customer service and staff from top to bottom are truly terrible.

The most difficult airline in the…

The most difficult airline in the world. Frustrating to deal with, hard to get your boarding pass digitally, and no flexibility. I missed my flight due to a delay with a partner airline, despite having flights available they made every wait until the next day. Avoid this airline, book Ryanair if possible instead.

Avoid at all cost!

If I could give them a negative 100 that would be a kindness. I recently tried to book flights and despite being given booking references on each attempt, was told I needed to contact Aer Lingus to confirm the booking. I was told by the customer service agent that the first booking could not be completed due to an issue with the app. She informed me to use the online booking system instead. The same thing happened when booking online. However, when I contacted Aer Lingus the customer services agent told me I needed to contact their partner airline due to an issue with a connecting flight. This is something I have never had to do but I did it, despite being skeptical. I was told by the partner airline the issue was with Aer Lingus. At this stage I didn’t know who to trust so I requested to speak to a supervisor and was told a supervisor was not available and that my issue would be escalated. I was also told to use the online complaint form to highlight my issues. The supervisor refused to speak to me despite waiting for several days and the response to my complaint was to use the app to book my flight. Completely ignoring the issues I raised with both the app and the online booking system. It is clear to me that Aer Lingus no longer cares about long standing loyal customers who previous to this experience would have rated them highly. This is the most shockingly bad customer services experience I have ever had and has been so stressful and frustrating.
