I am writing this review regarding my recent purchase of a HEMNES daybed and the deeply unreasonable resolution protocol offered by IKEA online support. I expect a senior customer service manager with the authority to issue custom compensation to contact me immediately. This order has been a nightmare from the start. Before assembly even began, I had to personally drive to the physical store to exchange an overtly faulty part.
After resolving that initial mistake, I spent over four hours of intense physical labor assembling the bed framework exactly to the manual. The defect only became apparent at the very end: the right-side drawer is completely misaligned, stiff, and constantly jams. It is impossible to detect a millimetre-level factory error in pre-drilled alignment holes until the massive unit is fully constructed.
When I contacted online support, the agent acknowledged the defect but stated that IKEA policy leaves me with only two options:Spend hours completely disassembling the entire bed, find new packaging, and wait for a courier to exchange the whole unit (meaning I have to waste another four hours building a second one).
Pack up the heavy drawer pieces and drive back to an IKEA store myself to swap it.Both options shift 100% of the logistical burden and physical labor onto the customer to fix a supplier mistake. It is entirely unfair to penalise a customer with hours of unpaid labor because of IKEA’s poor quality control.
MY DEMANDS FOR RESOLUTION:I refuse to disassemble this bed without a fair alternative. I am demanding either:Significant Financial Compensation / Partial Refund: To offset the permanent loss of functionality of the jammed drawer and my wasted time.Complimentary Assembly Service: If IKEA insists on a total swap, you must send an assembly team to handle the disassembly and re-assembly of the new unit free of charge.I have extensive video and photo evidence of the alignment defect ready for a senior manager. Do not reply with a generic copy-pasted customer service template. I expect a real manager to review order #***77326 and contact me with a fair solution.

I went to the store today to return two items, but unfortunately, the customer service experience was quite disappointing. The staff members seemed uninterested, unwelcoming, and lacked basic courtesy. A little more politeness and helpfulness would make a big difference. I hope the management can look into staff training regarding customer service.

I am extremely disappointed by the way IKEA has handled my case.
I placed a large IKEA order of approximately €3,400, which was delivered in two separate shipments. The first shipment alone contained 47 packages. When the delivery arrived, I counted a very large number of cartons and small packages and signed the digital delivery document, believing that the delivery was complete.
One week later, when the IKEA assembly team came to assemble my furniture, we discovered that two large wardrobe doors were completely missing. These are not small screws, fittings or insignificant pieces that could easily be overlooked — they are two large and essential parts of the wardrobe, with a value of approximately €260.
I immediately contacted IKEA Customer Service to report the issue.
What shocked me was the response: because I had signed the delivery document, IKEA told me that I should apparently go to the police and file a complaint in order to deal with the missing items.
Seriously?
The delivery was made by a transporter working for IKEA, and I am now being asked, as the paying customer, to deal with the consequences of a missing part of an IKEA delivery by going to the police.
I find this completely unreasonable.
I paid IKEA approximately €3,400 for my furniture. I expected IKEA to investigate the delivery with its own logistics partner, TRUSK, verify what was actually loaded and delivered, and find a solution for the missing wardrobe doors.
I understand that I signed the delivery document. However, when someone receives 47 packages, it is completely unrealistic to expect a customer to open every carton and identify every individual component at the moment of delivery — especially when the missing items are internal components of a larger furniture order and their absence only becomes obvious when the furniture is assembled.
What is most disappointing is not only that the doors are missing, but that IKEA’s Customer Service has made me feel as though I am responsible for proving that the transporter failed to deliver something that I paid IKEA for.
This is not the level of customer service I expected from IKEA.
I am asking IKEA to take responsibility, investigate this with its logistics partner, and provide the missing wardrobe doors or an appropriate solution.
After spending €3,400 with IKEA, I expected much better customer service.

Absolute chaos and incompetent customer support! IKEA cancelled my order against my will due to an internal system glitch. I spent two weeks waiting for my wardrobe because the drivers "couldn't see the instructions" to leave it on the ground floor. Then, the transport team offered me a new delivery date and a €40 compensation. I replied immediately and ACCEPTED the dates. Instead of scheduling the delivery, IKEA completely ignored my confirmation, automatically cancelled my order today, and told me to "just re-order it yourself." On top of that, they are threatening to deduct money from my refund for parts that were NEVER delivered to me. This is illegal and an absolute scam. Fix your system and give me my wardrobe!Nederland, Tiel

I booked a return and selected "assembled" on the website, as it was explicitly listed as an option. When the drivers arrived, they flat-out refused to collect it.
I called customer service, only to be told items must be dismantled, and the agent immediately tried to upsell me a TaskRabbit service to take it apart. I re-booked the collection online—again selecting the assembled option—and was reassured it was good to go. After waiting in for 12 hours, no one showed up.
Customer service then admitted the previous advisor had booked it incorrectly and IKEA had cancelled it on their end, despite me holding email confirmation for the slot.
The advisor re-booked it again. On collection day, I contacted customer service twice to double-check everything was on track. Both agents confirmed it was. Once again, nobody showed up.
It seems IKEA is spending more money on AI gimmicks than on functional booking systems that actually work. To cap it all off, when I asked to speak to a customer service manager, they refused to get on the phone and left a junior representative to take the heat for their completely broken operation. Absolute shambles.

Really liked IKEA for simple home decor. I've picked up a few things for my living room and storage over time, and they've held up well. Nothing too fancy , but the designs are nice and they make the home feel a little more put together.

IKEA used to have reliable customer care, but the standard of service has gone severely downhill. My recent experience showed a complete lack of basic competence, customer care, and accountability.
After redeeming my IKEA Family points for a £15 large delivery voucher, an error on their website prevented the discount from applying at checkout. Needing to complete the order, I contacted support expecting a simple fix. Instead, I was bounced between live chat and phone teams, culminating in an appalling phone call where the agent was overtly dismissive and actually threatened to hang up on me when I asked for the issue to be escalated.
Believing this was an isolated incident with one rogue agent, I escalated a formal complaint to executive management regarding both the website glitch and the hostile treatment I received. The response I received back was an insulting, generic copy-paste template that completely ignored the complaint about the agent’s conduct and simply stated that points are "the customer's responsibility."
They did not even bother to read the complaint or review the call recording.
When a company's website glitches, their loyalty rewards fail, their frontline staff threaten customers on the phone, and their escalation team hides behind boilerplate non-answers, you know customer service has completely collapsed. Treat your loyalty points as worthless and expect zero support if anything goes wrong with an order.

Went to IKEA today to get a price on a new bathroom fully fitted. I had a diagram drawn with measurements. The lady that I asked for help told me they need everything in mm and she also needs heights of cupboards. She didn’t even give me a chance to say the cupboards need to reach the ceiling, felt a racially discriminatory process and rude. I was made to feel uncomfortable at the Wednesbury branch.

I would love to write a review for every individual when I get great customer care from a brand. Yesterday at IKEA (Wembley) a young man by the name Kweku came to my rescue in the warehouse section when I was having difficulty despite being very busy himself at the time. There was another unsung hero that is always ready to offer her great support and customer care is Rebecca at the checkouts. She has this infectious smile that never fails to cheer up this wary traveller that is usually stressed out by the time I reached the checkout. For me they would be joint employees of the month.

They became extremely worse, not a recommended company. They make you buy the assembly, make you pay for it and then try to outsource it to some platforms like taskrabbit. None showed up, none picked up the task and none built anything. Getting a refund for something you paid and was never provided takes hours waiting calls at customer service.
Ikea was a symbol of key in hands furnitures. Now is a nightmare of waiting, sold services they are uncapable to provide and hours at customer service to get nothing solved.
Take care because they changed dramatically for the worse in the past few years and you will always encounter problems and disservice as they cut on everything they were good at.
Total disaster.

Really disappointing customer service from IKEA.
I ordered a garden table and chairs presented as a set and took a day off to collect them. On collection, I discovered IKEA had cancelled the chairs because they were out of stock, leaving me with a table and no chairs. I had not received adequate notice before making the journey.
IKEA then explained that although sold as a set, it is actually a "combination product", so individual items can be cancelled separately. That distinction might work for IKEA's systems, but it certainly doesn't work for the customer who believes they have bought a complete set.
The chairs subsequently showed as back in stock, but IKEA would not deliver them separately. Incredibly, they offered to collect the table from my home free of charge and refund it, but couldn't arrange delivery of the two missing chairs to complete my original purchase.
After more than an hour and a half on live chat, multiple transfers and repeatedly asking for a manager, I was eventually offered a £10 e-voucher. I still couldn't speak to a manager and was told to contact IKEA again later or call instead.
The individual advisers were polite, but the system gave them seemingly no ability to actually resolve the problem.
Over 90 minutes, a wasted day off, a table with no chairs, no meaningful resolution and a £10 voucher which, to date, I haven't even received.
I expected considerably better from IKEA.

Was with somebody who went to return something did not have the receipt, but it was never unwrapped. It was worth over $100 without the receipt we were offered two dollars in a store credit. it was a young kid. He clearly knew it was wrong. I should've gotten his Manager having to walk through the entire place just to get out is an awful thing. I personally will do everything possible never to go back. What a ridiculous policy
I know that my friend will be calling Customer Service on this and hopefully getting it resolved

Ordered bookshelf for delivery as local store closed down. DPD Delivered it....
Good grief, all smashed to bits. That's bad enough. IKEA collected it 3 days later.
Still no refund, 20 days later. 4 phone calls saying 'yep' I'll sort that, but please give me a good review.
Still not sorted. Getting bored of phoning unhelpful call centre. IKEA have stolen my money. I will NEVER use IKEA again. Thieves
Now they have replied with a customer service number for me to call.... it doesn't work!! Joke
P.s still no refund, phoned twice today. Not sorted.
Now day 24. Still not sorted still no refund.
Now handed this to my credit card to deal with.
Shocking service, no wonder Amazon is winning.

I am multiply disabled, so I rely heavily on home deliveries. I have been using IKEA for years for this, with no issues whatsoever. Unfortunately, a problem with a recent delivery highlighted the fact that IKEA Italia has ZERO provisions for customers who, due to disabilities, cannot speak over the phone or visit a store. Deaf customers can use a rely service, but there are no provisions whatsoever for customers who rely on alternative communication for other reasons. Their chatbot does nothing but provide links to their website - useless if you need IKEA to actually DO something at their end. This is a clear breach under current anti-discrimination regulations, and I have no idea how IKEA is getting away with it.
My problem arose because IKEA provided an incomplete address to the delivery company (GLS). GLS put the parcel in storage and advised me to contact IKEA to get them to re-submit the address. I have no means of contacting GLS at all - their email address and website do not provide any contact details. I can only contact IKEA by using the phone or going in person to their shop, neither of which I can do due to my disabilities. In the unlikely case that IKEA is reading this, the order number is 1614483077. However, I'm less interested in my order than in an answer to the question: why does IKEA believe that it doesn't need to follow current legislation?
Update: please note their response. I need to contact customer support... When the issue is that there is no way for me to contact customer support. Talk about adding insult to injury.

Cancelled my order without telling me!!
Bought and paid for my kitchen, only to have them cancel parts of my order and not tell me, multiple items were cancelled and re-ordered after changing a delivery date - which was unnecessary in the first place, they cancelled an order for sold out items, did not tell me i had to repurchase them, my installation is coming up and now i don't have the kitchen i paid for! Extremely disappointed and frustrated with this experience!
