First time with Lufthansa—now I know why Emirates is my favourite

First time with Lufthansa—now I know why Emirates is my favorite.

Flew Munich to Delhi on Lufthansa's A380 and the cabin tech is completely stuck in the past.
Zero AC power outlets in Economy and a single, low-power USB-A port on the screen. Since I was carrying a standard USB-C to USB-C cable, there was literally no way for me to plug in or charge my phone for the entire 8-hour flight or work on my laptop.

Emirates gives you universal power plugs and fast charging standard in Economy. Lufthansa gives you 2010 tech.

First and last time flying with them. Save yourself the headache and book elsewhere.

I had booked a flight itinerary over…

I had booked a flight itinerary over Christmas Valencia - Munich/Munich-Valencia for my 14 year old son who travels alone. On 28 Jul 2026, I received an email notification from Lufthansa that the return flight was cancelled; I then contacted the CustomerService centre to re-book the return flight for free to another date as this was Lufthansa's fault and although this was now overlapping with the school start. Today, I received another email from Lufthansa telling me that the direct outbound flight on the 24th of Dec 2026 was also changed and that the flight wass now going via a stop at Frankfurt! I called the customer service again and I was told that according to their system, I had accepted the change to go via Frankfurt which is an abolute lie. I have never accepted this because I would never let my 14 year old travel alone via a big detour. They then told me a free rebooking is not possible for me as I had allegedly agreed to the changes and I had to pay EUR 140 to have a rebooking done for another direct flight. When I told them I have email proof that either they have a bug on their system or that they are lying to me, they didn't want to do anything, giving me stereotypical answers that they were sorry but they cannot do anything about it.
This is an absolute disgrace!
Congratulations, Lufthansa, you just scammed another customer out of pocket, you probably desperately need the money... I would boycott you, if Lufthansa weren't the only aircraft allowing minors flying alone from Munich to Valencia!

Unexplained Extra Charge & Unhelpful Customer Support

We booked flights from Malta to Helsinki, selecting ONLY one checked bag for €40. During the booking process, we used the live chat to ask about bringing a pet in the cabin. The agent sent a payment link for €80 to verify the pet fee, which was temporarily held and then refunded as expected. At this point, our total paid was €427.48 (€387.48 for flights + €40 for the single bag).

Late that evening—hours after everything was completed—we were suddenly charged an extra €40 for a second checked bag that we never added or authorized. If we had needed another bag, we obviously would have included and paid for it during our initial booking.

When we contacted customer support the next day to query this unexpected charge, the agent claimed it was added for the second passenger. They could not explain how or why it was added, refused to refund the €40, and could not provide the transcript from our previous chat session. Instead, they completely ignored the issue and repeatedly asked if there was "anything else" they could help with.

Extremely disappointed with the lack of transparency, unauthorized charges, and refusal to resolve clear errors made on their end.

customer support, baggage fee

I am extremely disappointed with Lufthansa's customer support.

Lufthansa sent me an email explicitly instructing me to check my baggage free of charge. I followed their official instructions, only to be forced to pay at the gate—when my bag was already on the plane. I would have never checked the bag in the first place if it weren't for their misleading official email.

I submitted a detailed complaint along with clear proof of their instructions. After waiting a long time for a response, I received a completely useless, generic template answer stating that "baggage depends on the fee booked."

They completely ignored what actually happened, the evidence provided, and their own mistake. Nobody actually read my complaint or took accountability.

Charging customers at the gate due to their own misleading instructions and then sending automated canned responses instead of fixing it is unacceptable.

HORRIBLE...Not sure where to start

HORRIBLE...Not sure where to start. Both website and app are the worse I have experienced.. All I keep getting is error messages on both. Never realized how good Delta is till I experienced other inferior airlines. By the look of other reviews and rating I can see it's not just me. Unfortunately I had no choice in airline and had to use this airline. Never ever again!!

Lost suitcase No refund

7 weekend ago Lufthansa lost my suitcase between Copenhagen and Mykonos airport with a stopover in Frankfurt. The suitcase was not returned to me before I returned to my home. I therefore purchased necessaties for my stay and sent in my claim. 6 weeks later I have still not recieved a penny and I have heard nothing in return. Very bad service!

Terrible with allergies

Had a terrible experience as they have no protocol for allergens on their flights. They continue to sell nut products on the flight and no one was listening to me. My allergy is life threatening and no one took it seriously. I will be taking this further.

They cancelled hand luggage and make you pay 60 you at the Check-in for a hand luggage sized piece. They call it economy basic and don't inform you when booking. Outrages for an already expensive flight. U helpful and rude staff.

Absolutely abysmal service

Absolutely abysmal service

Booked return flights from Manchester to Wroclaw, with a 1.5 hour layover in Frankfurt on each leg. Before we flew out, Lufthansa changed the outbound flight, extending the layover to 5.5 hours - by which point it was too late to cancel and rebook, so we lost an entire evening at the start of our holiday.

While away, I checked the return flight and found they'd done exactly the same thing again - this time with no notification at all.

I then discovered they hadn't transferred one of our two checked bags onto the booking. I spent two hours on their live chat trying to sort it out, only to be told they could see the mistake was on their end, but the "solution" was for me to pay again to rebook the bag myself, with a refund for the original taking 7–10 days. So they admitted fault, then made me pay upfront to fix it.

In total, over a one-week holiday, Lufthansa's errors cost us: an evening at the start, two hours on live chat the day before flying home, and a full day at the end, since we now had to fly out six hours earlier than planned. Plus the cost of the booked-in bag I had to pay twice for.

After I got home, they emailed asking me to contact them about the outgoing flight, with no reason given. I went on chat, waited 15 minutes, and was told I was 84th in the queue. I gave up. If they need to reach me, the least they could do is explain why in the email itself.

Genuinely one of the worst customer service experiences I've had with an airline.

Lufthansa ticket selling policy is…

Lufthansa's ticket sales policy is an absolute joke. They advertise low-cost tickets, but when you try to buy them, the system repeatedly shows an error and won't allow the purchase. The only tickets available end up being much more expensive. In my case, the difference was over €400 for a family of four.

Customer service was equally disappointing. On one call, the agent disappeared for 15 minutes and then disconnected the call. I spent three days trying to purchase tickets and still didn't manage to book them.

I would never have expected this level of service from a German airline. Very disappointing.

My Experience with Lufthansa Airlines

My Experience with Lufthansa Airlines

This was only my second time flying with Lufthansa, the first being in 1998. On this occasion, I travelled Economy Class from the UK to Lagos and, unfortunately, my overall experience was quite disappointing.

For a long-haul flight, I found the Economy Class seats quite cramped and uncomfortable, and the food was not particularly good based on my experience. Lufthansa is not a budget airline like easyJet or Ryanair, and I paid over £1,000 for my Economy Class ticket. At that price, I expected a considerably better experience.

Unfortunately, my return journey was even more stressful.

At the airport in Nigeria, passengers were having their hand luggage weighed. I was informed that the main cabin bag could not exceed 8kg and that I could only take either a backpack or a handbag, with the handbag apparently limited to 4kg.

I arrived at the airport approximately four hours before my scheduled flight, yet I still experienced considerable difficulty at check-in. At one point, one of the agents was about to refuse to allow me to check in, saying that check-in had closed. Thankfully, another member of staff intervened and pointed out that I had been at the airport since around 7pm.

What followed was extremely stressful. I had to open my bags and remove and discard several of my personal belongings simply to meet the baggage requirements. My checked-in luggage was actually below the permitted 23kg allowance, yet I was still required to reduce my hand luggage because it weighed 9.6kg rather than the required 8kg.

I also witnessed many other passengers going through the same stressful process—opening their luggage, rearranging and transferring items in an attempt to meet the weight restrictions. There also appeared to be situations where passengers were being asked for small amounts of money in connection with the process, which was concerning to witness.

After all the stress, rushing around and rearranging of my belongings, I was completely exhausted. I was so overwhelmed that I didn’t even realise I had accidentally put my handbag, which contained my purse, inside one of my checked-in bags!

I appreciate that airlines need to enforce baggage policies, but the way this was handled, particularly at the Nigerian airport, made what was already a long journey unnecessarily stressful and upsetting.

For a long-haul flight costing over £1,000 in Economy Class, I believe Lufthansa should look seriously at both the passenger experience and the way baggage restrictions are implemented and communicated at check-in.

This was a very disappointing experience, especially from an airline with Lufthansa’s reputation. I hope this feedback will be taken seriously and that improvements will be made for passengers travelling this route in the future.

No explanation, leaving passengers puzzled and stranded

Lufthansa flight 5:05 pm Monday 3 August, Cork to Frankfurt, was delayed three hours due to bad weather. Therefore, I missed connecting flight from Frankfurt to Lisbon. The Lufthansa attendant at Cork airport gate should have explained -- through a general announcement -- those missing connecting flights would receive a hotel voucher by phone. Instead, she waited for us to come up to her and ask her individually, doing as little as possible to assist us. Once we arrived at Frankfurt airport, there was NO Lufthansa employee to greet passengers at the arrival gate, leaving us to wander a huge and unfamiliar airport in an unfamiliar city. Inexcusable! Only because I received a complementary hotel voucher do I give Lufthansa a two-star rating instead of a one-star.
I hope I never fly Lufthansa again.

Horrible customer service

Horrible customer service, outrageous prices and ADDITIONALLY fees for carry on luggage, flying economy they say you can bring a small bag, i think they meant to write “you can bring your purse” and if you bring more than 2 shirts and a toothbrush. you’ll be charged an additionally 70 euros. will not fly with them or recommend to anyone. if i could give 0 stars, i would.

Booked prior to the Iran/Trump…

Booked prior to the Iran/Trump instability of jet fuel pricing. Rerouted as part of the cancellation of 20000 flights this summer. Problem came when Lufthansa cancelled flight sectors without notification or rerouting.
On contact with the airline, they tried to reroute through the US which requires a transit visa (at my expense) plus a change of airport mid travel. The agent didn't understand that EWR if a completely different state to JFK. Awful service. Have used Lufthansa many years previously but on this experience I will not book with this airline again.
Numerous contacts with them later, flight cancelled and refunded. Booked with another airline.

Lufthansa business class seating rip off

Lufthansa's new business class seat pricing policy is appalling. We always use Lufthansa, or Austrian for long haul to Asia, but this completely puts me off flying with them. We don't need flexibility so only book business light, but obviously my wife and I want to sit together and hence choose centre row seats. Now most of these are allocated for extra leg room, or more privacy - and it is not even as if you both get more room, just one of you. Unless you book really early you are unlikely to find any free seats together. Utterly stupid. Utterly awful. Utter rip-off policy.
