I would give American Home Shield zero stars if I could. I have been a customer for years, and this is not based on one bad claim. I have had multiple claims over the years that were poorly handled or simply never resolved. Meanwhile, my monthly price continues to increase, and you still have to pay a service fee every time they send someone out. My current experience has been the final straw. I have been without a working washer for approximately a month and have had two service appointments. During the first visit, the technician flooded my laundry room, and the washer had to be moved away from the wall so the flooring, baseboards, and cabinets could dry. At the second visit, the technician told me the washer was not repairable. Instead of covering the failure, AHS denied my claim and alleged that the washer had been moved to the garage and misused. The washer has never been in the garage. It was moved within the laundry room to give their technician access and because of the flooding caused during the first service visit. Now they are claiming that because the counterweight broke, it was not normal wear and tear and must have been caused by misuse. I have never improperly moved, dropped, transported, or abused this washer. Rather than honoring the warranty, it feels like they look for any possible reason to deny coverage. This has been consistent with my experience with AHS: prices keep increasing, you pay for every service visit, claims are a battle, and coverage always seems to come with an argument. Trying to reach someone who can actually resolve an issue is incredibly difficult, and trying to cancel the service is nearly impossible. After years of paying for this warranty, I do not feel I have received anything close to the value or protection I was paying for. Based on my experiences, I absolutely would not recommend American Home Shield.
