Avoid staying at the Home 2 Suites Grand Rapids Mi Northeast if you have lung issues, sensitivity to marijuana smoke, and concerns about your health and safety. The hotel is next to a marijuana dispensary. Although there are signs posted that the facility is 100 percent smoke free the staff does not enforce the policy. On the weekends the hotel has a thick smoke in the hallways of marijuana that enters the rooms through the vents. The staff at the hotel carry bottles of Febreze spray that are used in the hallways, on the carpets on every table, walls and given out to guests in the hotel. The marijuana smoke with the Febreze makes for a strong irritant to the lungs. In addition, I was told by a front desk attendant that the smoke alarms are disabled when the smoke is heavy. This hotel has a fire safety issue with disabled fire alarms. The management is not honest, lacks integrity to manage a hotel or deal with guests in a competent manner. If you question the manager about your concerns, he will make accusations that you are a fraud trying to get a free room for the night. The staff uses the dispensary and the legalization of marijuana in the state as an excuse for not securing a healthy, safe environment in the hotel for guests. Lastly, be aware that the key system goes down regularly which means you will have to be escorted to your room, you will be charged an occupancy tax and a destination marketing fee, and you might not be guaranteed your room booking fee and charged a higher amount.
