In a way SCAM company

In a way SCAM company. Numerous extensions way more expensive for renewal compared to what they should be. Have paid 5x time the cost compared to official numbers they should be charging.

We missed a renewal for one domain that we didn't receive notificiation from them. I paid for renewal but it never came back. Got in touch with support and they asked for extra charge 150$ for 'grace period'. Unbelievable. Are we in 2008.? + on their invoice I had to pay 16$ for the domain again, even though I had paid already for it.

Don't put your money into this company, nowadays compared to other services, I would call this scam - holding domain owner as a hostage.

Their claims about 'industry standarts are false' and I had never this issue with other .EU domains with other providers. And just to confirm:
On first step they will allow you to renew domain for the old renewal price. After some time it won't be renewed and when you get in touch - suddenly you have to pay 150$ for renewal and extra another year. So instead of ~16$ for renewal I paid ~182$.

And don't even get me started on their .GE domains that increase price in renewal each year. Last time I paid over 100$ just for renewal while other companies do list this for way cheaper.

Each time their answer will be - it's not us, it's the registrant that we have to pay.

"restoration fee acts as an insurance policy to guarantee you maintain control" - so how other can give grace period for free? While some can do it longer, other will list 5 days without fees. I was below 5 days.. Joke of a company to just get extra fees. Keep away. Only had poor support responses whenever I had to get in touch with them.

And regards their response to the emails - we're using Google Workspace and there are no emails from them in inbox or spam. But suddenly when there's an invoice for me to pay for 150$+ it gets in my email with no problems.. What a coincidence! :)

Taking my money somewhere else and would suggest doing that for others. 2-3 years back they didn't have such a policy fee or I was just lucky.

Their terms also don't cover .EU domains about fees, unless you know it's ccTLD and even then it's not listed there. So I was charged as gTLDs domain "After the 40-day grace period, there is a 30-day Redemption Period in which you can renew your domain name for an additional $150 USD."

Hi Rinalds,

We are sorry to hear about your negative experience and would like to address your points directly.

Firstly, we apologize if there was any confusion regarding the renewal pricing. We strive to maintain transparent pricing, which is why our prices for new registrations, renewals, and transfers are actually listed on our website for everyone to see.

Regarding the missed renewal notification, we have checked our email logs and confirmed that multiple notices were sent to the primary email address associated with your account. We understand that emails can occasionally end up in spam or be overlooked, so we apologize if this occurred. We encourage you to look at your primary email address on file to avoid any future miscommunication.

As for the situation with the domain renewal, we do have a restore fee in place for domains that have expired beyond a certain grace period. We understand that this additional charge may be frustrating, but it is imposed by the domain registries and is commonly practiced in the industry. If you prefer not to pay the fee, you have the option to wait for your domain name to expire and then attempt to re-register it. However, the restoration fee acts as an insurance policy to guarantee you maintain control over your domain name.

We take customer satisfaction seriously, and if there's anything else we can do to address your concerns or assist you further, please reach out to us directly.

Best regards,

I am thus far unhappy

I am thus far unhappy. I inherited a domain and want to transfer it to the registrar where I have all the rest of my domains. I cannot get an auth code, because the transfer lock is enabled. No problem. In my control panel I disable the transfer lock. But now I have to wait. I waited at least 24 hours (I think it was 48, though) and I went back -- still locked. So I started the process again. I understand such changes are not immediate, but why does this take so long? Are you holding my domain hostage? I know it's painful to lose a customer, but this is the kind of stuff I expected from Network Solutions at the dawn of the internet, not from any modern, legitimate registrar. The domain is a dot IO, so maybe that's part of the issue? I dunno, maybe it's the dot IO, so I'm giving 101domain the benefit of the doubt and awarding 3 stars instead of 1. If this resolves with a good explanation and it's proven to be user error or dot IO weirdness, I'm happy to upgrade my review.

The way a company should treat their customers

Recently I decided to search for a domain. I stumbled upon a registrar I had never heard of. I decided to place my order and got an error. I called and spoke with Brian and after a few minutes I realized due to this being a new service there were issues. While I decided I would just try later, Brian went above and beyond trying to find a solution to my issue. I will say it has been a long time since I have experienced service like this. He even went as far as calling me back after my phone died. He followed up and made sure everything was correct. When I hung up with Brian, first I thought to myself, I hope I get as lucky with my company to get as great a person as Brian, but second, I thought to myself, WOW that is how a customer should be treated. Thanks Brian, I appreciate it. Personally, I had almost given up on customer service anywhere. Great to speak with someone in the USA and a live person at that, and get such great attention, he would not let me go until he had everything in order, simply amazing. Thanks again and if Brian's boss is reading this, He is surely a keeper, I cannot stress this enough! Thank you!
