The program was helpful and thorough although it was really hard to find the way to enter the rental depreciation. That really took a long time. It should be made easier.

Bait & Switch. My AGI too low for "Free Return." Cost me $34.99.
I picked 1040.com from a menu of partners on the IRS.gov website. I wanted to File for Free. It wasn't until I'd finished completing all information for the return that the site indicated that my AGI of $6060 was too low for "Free" returns... IT definitely felt misleading and a bait and switch for $34.99 fee.

Excellent chat box.
Easy to use and affordable!
Stress free taxes...and affordable?!
Taxes are stressful because I'm always worried I'll read something wrong and make a mistake. Paying an accountant is out of my price range. That is why I love 1040, I know how much I'm paying BEFORE filing and they explain each section and make filing less stressful.
I've been using them for years and recommend to anyone I hear complaining about other online services that advertise free filing only to tell you $75 is needed to complete the filing. (an example from a friend this year 2026)
This was super easy and fast
This was super easy and fast. I had started with another service that had dated information on its software and spent hours trying to figure out what they were doing with expired forms and why they weren't prompting me with the correct income questions. 1040.com got it done for me before the deadline. Whew!
