Review summary

Created with AI, based on recent reviews

Looking at 376 reviews, most reviewers were unhappy with their experience overall. People frequently complained about extremely long wait times for call-backs, with many left waiting many hours or even days without any proper response on the phone lines. Consumers often felt that the staff was dismissive, unhelpful, and frustratingly difficult to communicate with when seeking medical help during urgent situations. However, some customers also noted that when they finally connected with someone, the medical care received was surprisingly prompt, kind, and effective. A few people also praised specific doctors and practitioners for being thorough, professional, and genuinely reassuring during their stressful consultations. These positive moments brought genuine relief to patients who managed to get through.

I cannot praise scotland 111 enough

I cannot praise scotland 111 enough. I woke up with a swollen face and tooth pain. I rang 111 at 10.00am, at 1.00pm I was leaving the dentist having received the appropriate treatment. This was on a Sunday and the dentist was an hour from home which was perfectly fine. The appointment was made for me. The whole service was completely stress free. Yes, they triage you and when you get a call back from the appropriate professional they triage you as well, but in my case it was treatment within 1 -2 hrs. Thank you from a very, very grateful patient. Especially as it was a Sunday.

Terrible service .

Terrible service .. daughter had been unwell for 8 days, thought we would bide our time as possibly viral .. she came home on the friday with excruciating ear pain. Rang at 6.30 am on the saturday had a phone call at 11.30 pm whilst she was asleep and missed call.
I offered to call them again but she said it was pointless, and she was right.
Had a call at 1.00pm on the sunday to triage her to be told it was viral and should get better in a few days.
After another sleepless night now day 10 managed to get appointment at own gp to be told she had a very nasty ear and throat infection.
Won’t bother again with 111 ..dire service as normal !!

USELESS NHS

Absolutely ridiculous wait times for callbacks, no help whatsoever from the call handlers who just repeatedly ask the same questions before trying to fob you off with lies.

Service not fit for purpose

Suspected fracture in my ankle, website for urgent treatment centre said to book via 111. Went through a ridiculous triage which took 20 minutes about my ankle only to be told to see a pharmacist. When I told them pharmacist had already said it needed an x ray they said they couldn’t book urgent treatment centre appointments (even though online they tell you to) and that the most appropriate service for me was a pharmacist and they could do a referral to my pharmacist. How can a pharmacist x ray my ankle?
Call handler was rude, patronising, wouldn’t listen to what I was saying, just kept asking ridiculous questions such as how are my bowels and do I have chest pain? No, I hurt my ankle. Clearly just reading from a script with no medical knowledge at all. So frustrating. I will have to find a minor injuries unit that takes walk ins now. Utter waste of time and half an hour of my life I won’t get back.

Its a terrible service

Its a terrible service. Have to repeat yourself to at least 3 different people who can see the same information you have already gave. Their time wasting is next level. Never an appointment to be seen or any helpful advice. Don't take more than the recommend dose of pain killers haha I mean when your in extreme pain have to wait 24 hours for an assessment to be seen. Honestly I dont know what the service achieves. I dont anyone that has had a good service ever from this number. Avoid at all costs

Awful nurse on the phone

Awful nurse on the phone, told me off because the 111 online has not passed her all the information, asked me why I had not contacted my gp! It’s a Sunday! Very rude. It takes more effort to me horrid than it does just to be nice on the phone

What a useless pathetic service

What a useless pathetic service. One of many provided by the pathetic so called leadership of UK. Don't use, they lie about wait times and have absolutely no clue about the query you have. Using AI chatbot will provide you with better service.

Shocking service.Tickbox…

Shocking service.Tickbox rude, dismissive call handlers with zero empathy or people skills.Fail to realise potentially life threatening conditions.I was asked are you phoning about your tachycardia or last call when last call was about tachycardia.I believe she meant are there new symptoms for her tick box.Your condition is treated like an admin inconvenience.Phoned back several hours later by a "clinician" who left voicemail and closed the case by which time I had had to make my own judgment how to handle a situation where I was very vulnerable.Thankfully I'm okay,no thanks to 111 who aggravated my stress and made a potentially very serious condition worse. They were a liability. One handler put down phone when I explained it's a potentially life threatening situation.I believe he is a danger to callers.

Completely useless

Completely useless. I called for my little boy who is 7 and obviously ill at time. They are clearly reading of a script as it's the same every single time. They made me put him on the phone to answer their questions. A tired poorly 7 year old. He didn't not understand what they were asking and she would not accept the answers from me. Absolutely ridiculous. She told me he needs to be seen in 2 hours and then they called back to ask me to drive 18 miles for an appointment at 10pm. What an absolute joke. I told them no and took him to our local A&E where even they agreed with my decision. It's a complete waste of time this 'service'.

They cannot be bothered

They cannot be bothered. Have Diabetes, and had problems with the surgery sorting out the mess they caused for a repeat prescription. Running out of a prescription item and Purflee (WE DON'T) Care Centre still hasn't been bothered to issue the correct Prescription. Tried calling 111 and got told to call back when I run out.
