AVOID!!!! SCAMMERS! and they are extremely good at it! You will pay 4 times more than you should if you end up using their service. I got trapped outside on the day I was flying out for my Christmas break so was under immense pressure to get back in and that is why I probably was a bit less careful and not on it... They will charge you for call out, for getting in, for a new lock, for some other layout etc etc and the costs will be just mounting. He only stopped adding items when I started screaming. I ended up paying above £800... I got advice from Citizen Advice and am going for it now to claim my money back. Please be careful. There are plenty serious and honest traders in your area. Just do not lose your head!

A couple initially expecting to pay less than £50 for a locksmith became victims of a "bait-and-switch scam" which ended up costing them more than £5,000, an investigation has found.

The scam involves baiting a customer with an initial cheap quote before adding on hidden charges and carrying out unnecessary work that leads to spiralling costs.

As part of the BBC's investigation, the company involved - 24/7 Locksmiths UK - was secretly filmed trying to charge up to 10 times the original quote for the job.

Claude came super quickly and was very quick to release our 3 yo who had locked herself in the bathroom. He also removed the lock at our request and recommended a filler for us to use on the door. Thank you!

One of the workers called Claude done his job fantastically since I was locked in my room and he came in and opened the door so quick and effectively to unlock the faulty locked door for us

Big thanks to Marius for helping out so quickly while I was crashing out. Was locked inside my flat due to a faulty Yale lock and Marius really calmly explained what was wrong, what he was going to do and even handed me my uber eats when the door opened.

Customer service is misleading and deliberately deceptive.

During the first phone call, we were quoted £75 if the engineer could remove the broken key from the lock. If that failed, we were told that a full lock replacement would cost between £90 and £120, with £120 as the maximum. I asked several times whether £120 was the final price—not £75 plus £120—and the operator clearly confirmed that it was, assuring us we would not find a cheaper service.

When the engineer arrived, everything changed. We were told that £75 was only for opening the door, VAT would be added, and the lock replacement would be charged separately, not £120 as promised, but at a higher price because the lock had suddenly been classified as “high security.”

After a discussion with another operator, she agreed to reduce the price to £175 for all the work—but only after giving us an ultimatum: either accept this amount or pay £50 for a “false call-out,” which of course had never been mentioned before.

The engineer did his job promptly, replacing the lock, and we have no complaints about his work. However, this is not how honest business should operate. Be prepared for the final price to be significantly higher than what you were initially promised.

AVOID AVOID AVOID! These people are just out to scam you for your money!

Chris from 24hrslocksmith was sent out to intervene at my property. He acted quickly to drill through my lock and destroy it - even if it was a standard lock that could have probably been picked instead. He rushed to install a new one (that I didn’t even want) to rip as much money as possible out of me.

They cite on their website transparency on their prices being one of their key qualities but I got no quote on the phone and a verbal quote of £569 from Chris that was intended for the whole service. Turned out not! The bill added up to over a grand!

The job was messy, rushed and I was left with a wobbly latch. He tallied up loads of charges in the invoice that made no isense like a separate charge for drilling through the lock (£180) one to install the new one (£55), the emergency call out (at £89) and £50 for extra keys (that I didn’t want and since it is a legal requirement I have to have all the keys to the lock, they should have been included in the price of the very expensive £570 locks he installed surely!)

Please don’t trust these people, pick another service!

Showed up on time, early in fact did exactly what was asked was quick and professional.

Ruben was the locksmith that came to my house for an emergency call. He was so professional and showed a lot of empathy especially with my situation. He was very quick and efficient, and completed the job perfectly.

Capatos (the locksmith) was here within great time and got the job done in no time. Great guy 👍

Marius was amazing! Got me in the front door with in 2 minutes! Then fixed and sorted a new and safer lock in 20minutes. Also arrived super early at 8am as I’d locked myself out after holiday. Saved my life! Would use again :)

Very happy with the service

AWFUL experience I feel sick about what’s just happened. Quoted a decent price on the phone and once they’re in they start throwing numbers at you a £75 job turned into a £400 plus job for an internal door. Ended up with a lock which we don’t even want. DO NOT USE. everything felt rushed and now I feel sick

Rip off merchants. Avoid companies that lie about their prices.
When asked how much it would be over the phone.
They failed to mention that I would end up paying almost 3 times the quoted price.

Attended to the issue quickly, great communication, friendly and easy service. Highly recommended!

Marius attended to our home quickly (10 mins after calling) and was very friendly and helpful. Marius managed to unlock our bathroom quickly and effectively. Highly recommend!
