I signed up to Academic Singles on 24th November and paid for a single month via PayPal. As most of the recommended contacts had no photos I wrote cancelling my membership four days before the next payment was due on the 24th December.
My cancellation (dated 20.12.2024) was very clear and was written from my personal email account.
Apparently this was not good enough and Customer Service (oxymoron here) directed me to a complex resignation link.
On 24.12.2024 Academic Singles took another month's payment from my PayPal account. It is evident from other reviewers that cancellation is not easy and it's all about scamming a further £59.95.
Please avoid any site that automatically renews membership and makes resignation unnecessarily difficult. This is one of them and you have been warned.

Scam, scam, scam. Stay away. False profiles, definitely not academic singles on this site. They email you a message that this person wants to connect, but when you click on that persons link, it is a totally different person.

A huge scam. Told them to cancel my subscription and they've just billed me again for another year. Unauthorized transaction.

The 'free' version doesn't do anything as you can not see the ladies profiles.
When you join and you see the profiles they are nothing to do with 'academic singles'.... they are from all around the country from the top of NZ to the bottom and you cannot set a preference for distance from you. Can't select body type of who you are looking for either (sorry ladies but I'm not looking for 'a few extra pounds' as healthy living is important to me.

I purchased a 6 month subscription for the site.

I asked for a full refund and they said 'no'.
I asked for them to change my subscription to one month and refund the difference. No luck.
I told them I will contact my bank and have the fee they charge refunded in full as the site is a scam!!

Then they agreed to reduce my membership to one month and give me a refund!!

And they say they can't find me on their site.......is this how they have negative feedback removed????

Worst place you can join. Not really much of serious contacts, I got suspiceous that half of the socalled matches doesnt even exist. You can only choose "automatic silent renewal" of your membership which you can only stop by mailing them and wait for their accept. They renew your member ship without telling you and at the same time increase prices. What a dirty way to make business hustling hopeful people. They should be ashamed of their setup. Its a hustle, nothing else!
