I have used ActiveCampaign for years

I have used ActiveCampaign for years; I like how easy it is to use, great customer service, and the pricing is okay, but I would rather pay them and know that I can get my email marketing out. I recommend it to my friends and clients, it is my tool for marketing online.

Bad user experience

Too expensive for the bad user experience - servers often slow, customer service often not helpful and the UX experience clunky.

Customer service is great

Customer service is great. Whenever I have issues with the platform, they usually sort it out within 24 hours. They’re not available 24/7, but they respond as quickly as they can. I also really like how flexible the automations are. Plus, the campaign reports are easy to understand and navigate.

ActiveCampaign could be more intuitive and user-friendly as a tool

I have used ActiveCampaign a couple of times to support business development and outreach efforts for my newly established consulting firm. I find the tool clunky and not as intuitive as I would like. For example, formatting and some templated elements like my address appeared as a default when I disseminated a recent newsletter/update. It's actually my home address used for my account and then it was shared publicly. Was not overly thrilled about that...

Erroneous charge and incorrect value of refund caused us to lose money

I paused our account for 3 months and during the pause I wrote exhaustively to support to make sure to cancel the account before it was reactivated and we were charged. They assured me I would not be charged and surely at the 3 month mark, I was charged. They refunded me after I wrote to them again, but being an international company, the refund was not for the same exact amount as the charge and they refused to refund me the rest, event thought it was 100% their error. So basically I spent hours writing back and forth with support to completely lose out on $100, which may be nothing to AC, but a lot to a small business. "There's nothing we can do". Amazing support.

The automation and work flow function

The automation and work flow function, though a little clunky, is basically great. I use it not only for Outbound and Inbound (separate workflows) but also Employee onboarding. Not much marketing is done through the application, but these automations save me a lot of time

Try actually listening to the questions people ask.

Customer Service LOVE to send "give us feedback" but never listen to their customers to solve their problems in the first place.
How about you remember that people ask questions because they don't know the answer and need help, and explain it at that level.
Horrendously overpriced platform.

The email platform works well.

The email platform works well.
Email campaigns are sent to relatively all subscribers in my email base.
We had a more unfortunate event with AC. I started an email campaign to promote a webinar. I had about 1500 registrants in my database. I sent emails to warm up people in my customer base. They went relatively well. Why relatively? Because I would schedule the email to go out at a certain time, and it would arrive at another time. Sometimes it arrives 24 hours later than the scheduled time.
The unpleasant part was just the day before the webinar when I didn't get the campaign emails. I tried to send them personally, in batches, by email, Facebook, whats app.
After the webinar, I tried to understand what happened.
Somewhere it was written in bold print that I had exceeded the maximum of 25,000 emails to send per month, in the $61/month subscription
I think an email could have been sent explaining why the emails were not being sent and what the workarounds were. For loyal customers (for almost 4 years) there could be some price reductions , in certain important periods for the customer.
I am convinced that you are concerned to please all your customers, and that you will find effective solutions for your customers and yourself.
Thank you for your efforts on my behalf.
Best regards Gabriela Comisel

It’s a great service and I do like the automation flow - however, I feel it’s a bit pricey for what it is. Not only that, but it’s very hard to downgrade once you’ve started which I feel is a bit of a game/con from their end.

Saying that, it’s got a lot of great features and the delivery rate is exceptional. I just wish it was a bit cheaper

We used to love Active Campaign until greed got the best of them. We pay 10K a year for 150K subscribers and now need to upgrade to 200K subs and our new annual charge? 23K per year - more than double. Greed never wins long term.

Be careful depending your business in active campaign

Used to be great now every single additional added function or every new contact will add hundreds to your costs.

This is not how you increase revenue. They could have introduced new features and then upsell those but they keep taking away functions from their key services.

I honestly regret having my clients on active campaign and I wish I went with an automation platform that doesn’t keep squeezing you for money for every single new function.
