I hired Elsa Melancia through AdvocateAbroad to clarify a demand letter from a company in Portugal. Initially, she was polite and responsive, which gave me confidence in her ability to handle my case. However, my experience after paying the fee was extremely disappointing.

Communication became painfully slow, with emails often ignored. Responses only came when I threatened to escalate the matter with AdvocateAbroad or requested a refund. Even after more than two months, Elsa has not made any significant progress on my case.

This lack of professionalism and accountability is deeply frustrating, especially when dealing with time-sensitive legal matters like ours. I chose AdvocateAbroad expecting reliable and efficient legal assistance, but this experience has left me feeling angry and let down. I would not recommend this lawyer and AdvocateAbroad to others based on my experience.

Miguel was fluent in multiple languages and he was INSANELY proficient in local case law as it applied to divorce. He coordinated seamlessly with my US lawyer, developed very effective strategies and was familiar with all the lawyers my ex wife was hiring in the area in addition to having litigated against them multiple times. What should have been a disaster (personally and financially), Miguel turned in to a winning situation for us. The entire case took 3 years and he never missed a beat. Anyone facing a divorce in the EU, and in particular Spain or anyone that also has to deal through multiple jurisdictions as I did (the US and Spain) should hire Miguel. Contacted them to ask for qualified lawyer to deal with property dispute in Greece.
I was given written confirmation, along with first name and initial, of a Greek lawyer who would call me at 14:30hrs local time.
This came and went with no call. I then rang the AdvocateAbroad.com phone given on the email confirming appointment. The person who answered spoke native standard English and said I could "cancel the appointment" if I wished.
This was the only solution he kept on proposing when I explained that I wanted the call to happen since I had set aside the time and prepared for it.
When I said I wasn't impressed, he hung up the phone.
When I tried to call again, the number went straight to voicemail.
Really astonishingly bad and unprofessional. Not only can't they keep time but they 'offer' a cancellation of a first contact phone call scheduled by them as though it was a gift.
I suggest: don't bother

After entering my contact details on advocate abroad page within 2 days I was contacted via WhatsApp as I reside in Australia. Maria who attended me was informative and accurate on how long it would take to obtain my police clearance certificate she also knew about the laws of the country I needed it for and how to proceed. Overall it was a very smooth process.
