I’m extremely disappointed with the way this store treats loyal customers and how little honesty or transparency they show.

I received an email today promoting a FREE custom fitting for new iron models. Perfect timing, as I’m comparing Wilson and Cobra irons and have had several fittings over the years due to ongoing issues with my spine, which makes consistency difficult.

However, when I tried to book online, I was blocked with a message saying I was “not authorised to book an appointment.” After calling the store, I was given vague excuses and no real explanation. I was then told I would need to pay a £50 deposit over the phone or pay £50 on arrival before even entering the fitting bay — despite the fitting being advertised as free. I was told they did this due to now doing LAB Golf and needing deposits off people. LIES !!!

To test it, I tried booking again using different details… and it went through instantly with no issues and no mention of a deposit.
So a “John Smith” is welcome — but I’m not?

I then received a call in response to my complaint, and the explanation I was given was even worse:
Because I’ve had fittings in the past where I didn’t buy anything (due to my unpredictable spinal condition), they’ve now decided I can no longer book online and must pay a £50 deposit that is only refunded if I buy clubs.
This completely contradicts the advertised “free fitting with no obligation to buy.” !!!
The person who called me was blunt, dismissive, and showed zero interest in resolving anything. No empathy, no customer care — just a clear message that I’m no longer welcome unless I pay upfront.

For context, I have bought clubs, balls, bags and other equipment from this store in the past, and I’ve also introduced friends who made purchases.

To be treated like this after years of loyalty is embarrassing for the brand.

If a store wants to charge for fittings, fine — be honest about it.

But advertising something as free, blocking certain customers, and then demanding money only from them is misleading at best and discriminatory at worst.

This experience has completely put me off ever returning.

Really enjoyed my club fitting experience with Olly, went through a range of options and left feeling really confident with my purchase. He clearly knows his stuff and was very friendly and patient. Great customer service from an excellent, well stocked retailer. Thanks Olly!

Josh did a super job fitting a titleist 3 wood and a 19 degree hybrid that will really improve my performance at the top end of the bag. He was knowledgable and really helpful. I'm really looking forward to picking up my clubs and using them on the course.

You'd think they haven't a clue but I think it's they can't be asked.
Look at you as though your not worthy to be there, massive struggle to get a hello. Horrible people.

Be warned !!! They will Plaster you (Without Consent or asking) with a MASSIVE TON of Marketing!!!! I purchased one club begrudgingly, and now I get all sorts of Marketing Email Crap! and the worst part ....YOU CANT SUBSCRIBE, the URL has a bug in it!!!

Yet again a brilliant experience at the AF golf Melbourn branch, they were happy to make up some demo hybrids to my specs for me to try on a very busy Sunday morning, I traded in some old clubs to fund my purchase again hassle free and very fair prices 5 star customer service yet again

I visited the Biggleswade AF Golf Store on 16/4/25 and was pleasantly surprised by the new lay out of the store and also the very helpful staff who were so brilliant.
I went to the store to look for second hand drivers and the staff invited me to take all three drivers chosen to the range and gave me free balls to use on the range. I chose one of the clubs and the staff were again help me with fitting of a new grip.
All in all a great introduction to AF Golf Store at Biggleswade. Well done and I will be back soon.

Today I had a lesson with George at AF Golf Peterborough, and I couldn't recommend it highly enough. I injured my knee in 2022 and have been struggling with my yardages and toe strike. Within the space of 15 minutes, George had me striking the ball out of the centre of the club and hitting a draw. Something I've never been able to do before, even after playing golf for 16 years. The lesson was so good that I booked in for another two there and then after our first session. If anyone is looking to take advantage of well-priced lessons, then the guys at AF Golf Peterborough can cater for all your needs. Looking forward to our next lesson, George. Thanks again.

I recently had a custom fitting for a putter at the Melbourn store. This was my first ever fitting and I came in with an open mind to which putter I wanted. Josh listened to the budget I had in mind, provided excellent analysis of my current putting stroke using SAM labs and narrowed my choices down based on shaft, head and length. The fitting was in depth and very interactive. Josh was friendly, professional and very knowledgable. I would highly recommend a fitting at AFGolf store, which was free with the putter! The staff in general are always friendly and willing to help. Overall an excellent customer experience. Thanks!

My custom fitting with Mark was first class. I was looking for a set of game improvement irons; he listened diligently to what I was looking for from any new set of irons and after static measurements and dynamic analysis of my swing using my current clubs established what shaft type, shaft stiffness and club head lie were most appropriate for me. He fully took account of my preferences on brand and style/type of iron and we tried multiple club heads with a variety of shafts to achieve the best combination to improve my game. At no time did I feel pressured towards a specific brand nor was there any expectation of a purchase on the day; Mark genuinely seemed to be most interested in fitting me with a set of irons that would take my game to the next level and advised I could book another custom fitting session to finesse my club selection if required. My overall experience was excellent and I would thoroughly recommend albeit I am still to make as purchase due to cogitating on the irons I want to go for.

AF golf took over Biggleswade shop from American golf and all I can say is wow. So much brighter bigger loads of stock in clothing balls clubs and shoes. And my fitting for my irons from Chris was top notch service from someone who cares and knows what he’s saying. My advice is try these guys you won’t be dissatisfied.

I’m finding it impossible to look online at there shop with having to give my details? Are you able to browse at the stock, prices etc…

Had a fantastic experience being fit for irons by David. He took into account my preferences and what felt best for me and didn’t push anything or hard sell anything. He was also especially gracious in dealing with me having to reschedule at very short notice. Would definitely recommend!

Excellent service by fitters Mark and David , no hard sell ..very professional service , I would highly recommend.

I had a full bag fitting with Rob Emery. His patience, coupled with his passion and knowledge, made the experience fantastic. In the end, Rob spent just over 3 hours with me over 2 fittings to get my fitting and bag selection just right. I cannot give a higher compliment than to say I purchased on service above all else.

Went for a woods fitting at Peterborough with Lewis, he was very professional, very helpful and most of all very honest, after trying 7 different driver heads and probably 15 shafts plus adjustment they couldn't find anything to outperforms my current driver , he was very professional and didn't want to do me a disservice selling something I wouldn't benefit from. Will definitely be returning when it's time for the irons to be assessed, or I'm ready for a new driver

Iron fitting - I am clinging on to a 7 hcp.
I recently had an iron fitting at the Cambridge store with Olly. I can’t speak highly enough of the fitting, Olly had a plan! We tried several shafts, then heads from several different manufacturers.
All my brief to Olly was that I wanted better feel from my new irons and more consistent centre hits. With the use of trackman you could see the consistency improve throughout the hour long fitting.
Titleist T150’s ordered and delivered within 2 working days. Incredible service from all involved.
Took the clubs straight on the range. Felt fantastic.
