We were delayed in new Delhi while on the way to sri lanka ,it was late taking off from London so we missed our connection ,both air india ,no offers of hotel or any thing ,they say that they not compensating when clearly they offer compensation, totaly disgusting attitude, we are not going to leave it and I would advise against using this airline .
Our experience with Air India’s baggage…
Our experience with Air India’s baggage claims process was extremely disappointing.
Our 28-inch suitcase was seriously damaged during our journey and was officially recorded as major damage in the Property Irregularity Report (PIR). The suitcase was beyond repair.
Despite this, Air India initially offered only INR 2,500 in compensation, later increasing it to INR 3,500. We explained repeatedly that this amount would not even cover the cost of a basic no-brand replacement suitcase in Thailand, let alone one of similar quality to the damaged baggage.
Throughout the process, Air India repeatedly referred to internal policies and the absence of the original purchase receipt, insisting that no higher compensation could be offered. We found the communication repetitive and focused on rejecting our claim rather than finding a fair solution.
After many emails over several weeks, we were told that INR 3,500 was their "full and final" offer. We could not accept this, as we did not believe it reflected the actual loss. We therefore escalated the matter to the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) in India. After that, we never received any meaningful resolution.
What disappointed us most was not only the low compensation, but the amount of time and effort required to pursue what we believed was a reasonable claim.
My advice to other passengers is to document everything, keep photographs of the damage, retain all baggage documents if possible, and if you believe the compensation offered is unreasonable, consider escalating the case to the DGCA rather than assuming the airline's first or "final" offer is the only option.
Based on our experience, we cannot recommend Air India’s customer service, baggage claims handling, or booking a flight with Air India.
I wish there was an option for 0 Stars
I wish there was an option for 0 Stars, it would be that.
Having been charged the incorrect amount - Air India take no obvious responsibility and very unhelpful.
Also, Pooja & Ashwaria confirmed there is no cooling off period which is against Aviation Rules and shocking and illegal.
Even after customer relations called me, I told them the wring amount was charged to my credit card, completely different to the air india app - sent screenshot to them and she said, what is the issue with that and said she doesn't understand and put phone down abruptly.
I had a very disappointing experience…
I had a very disappointing experience with Air India. We booked wheelchair assistance for two passengers well in advance because my father-in-law and grandmother is elderly and needs support while travelling. Despite this, no wheelchair assistance was provided for either passenger.
The staff were rude, unhelpful, and showed very little concern when we asked for assistance. Instead of trying to resolve the issue, they were dismissive and offered no support. This caused unnecessary stress and made the journey much more difficult for my elderly father-in-law and grandmother.
The customer service was extremely poor, and the lack of care for passengers who require special assistance is unacceptable. If you offer wheelchair assistance as a service, you should make sure it is actually provided. I am very disappointed with the way we were treated and would not recommend Air India based on this experience.
Delhi for 22 hours for my next flight.
Traveled from london to Bangladesh and stopover at Delhi for 3 hours.
My connection flight was cancelled. So I was stuck at Delhi for 12 hours before the staff can book a flight to Bangladesh. Finnally a flight has been booked and they apologised to me and waited another 10 hours till my flight to Bangladesh. So 22 hours sat in an airport sleeping on the floor.
Finally landing in Bangladesh my suitcase was still at Delhi and came a week later for me to collect.
Never booking with air India again.
Memorable travel with excellent service from the staff.
We travelled in AI 101 from Delhi to JFK NY on 7.7.26. In flight seating was good. Service from the crew members was very cordial in both sectors Delhi -Rome and Rome-JFK NY. We truly appreciate their concern towards passengers comfort and convenience. We opted for Jain food and the food served was very delicious. Quality was good. I did remember one Airhostess Ms.Kushboo in Rome-NY sector who extended excellent service and very supportive through out our journey. Along with her other staff members in both sectors made our entire journey very joyful and memorable.

Extremely Disappointing Air India Experience
My recent journey with Air India was one of the worst travel experiences I’ve had. 1. The food served onboard was of very poor quality. 2. The overall flight experience was uncomfortable and unpleasant. 3. Customer care service was unresponsive and unhelpful.
This combination of issues has left me extremely dissatisfied, and I believe this will be the last time I travel with Air India. I hope the airline takes passenger feedback seriously and works toward improving its services.
Worst
Worst, worst, and Worst service! Horrific and terrible people at the gate. They are imbeciles who are power-tripping with no empathy or presence of mind. They think they own the world and bully you. For a name mismatch on the ticket (which was actually not our fault), they charge an extra fee, but here they denied boarding. These morons did not even offer us accommodation or an option to reschedule the flight. Never ever use these clowns' flight. You will be left stranded. Stay away from them!
Buyer Beware - dishonest to the core - the transcript should have been produced
I purchased 2 business class tickets to Goa and then found I needed to change them to Jodphur for different dates. I did this through the call centre. When the tickets came through online all the call centre employee had done was change the dates but not the destination.
Beware everyone if you want to change tickets with these cowboys you need to have evidence of your change request in writing. I now had 2 useless business class tickets and had paid a change fee for something I didn't request. I needed the voice recording or transcript of what had happened. Air India refused to provide this - what a surprise. I have received a partial refund for the original tickets but for the change fee nothing. this is definitely BUYER BEWARE. The charge back on the credit card would not work without the recording, so you need to make your ticket changes online and not the call centre. Air India are disreputable and frankly should not be in business.
I think Air India should replace its…
I think Air India should replace its CEO and main managers. A bunch of people who isn’t doing anything to improve the standard.
The ongoing issue for thousands of customers - upgrade to business is available online. You book and pay, money gets deducted and no confirmation. When you contact the customer service, they say you will get your money refunded automatically.
This is an ongoing issue but nobody seems bothered. Only this happens in Air India.
Buying new aircraft’s won’t help. Change the current online support company. Change everything
Don’t fly with Air India
I was genuinely excited to fly Air India after hearing so much about the airline’s transformation, but my experience was incredibly disappointing.
I paid an extra $100 per seat for extra legroom, expecting a more comfortable journey. Instead, I regretted that decision almost every hour of the flight.
The washrooms were consistently dirty, making the long journey uncomfortable. One of the most frustrating parts was that passengers frequently climbed over and stood in my footrest area to move around the cabin. While I understand that this is largely due to the aircraft’s cabin layout and not entirely Air India’s fault, it significantly affected the comfort of a seat I had paid extra for.
What disappointed me most wasn’t just the flight it was how my complaint was handled. It took three months to receive a response, and after what Air India described as a “thorough investigation,” they offered ₹2,000 per passenger as their maximum goodwill compensation. Considering the amount I paid for the seats and the experience I endured, that resolution felt dismissive rather than customer-focused.
If you’re considering paying extra for these seats on this aircraft, I would strongly recommend saving your money. In my experience, the additional cost did not translate into additional comfort or value.
I have lost my hopes with Air India improving anything. They are incompetent of handling customer service and customer complaints.
If possible, please change your name from Air India to something else. The company is giving bad reputation to India.
I am sure late Ratan Tata sir, wouldn’t have liked this.
Extremely disappointing experience with…
Extremely disappointing experience with Air India. After missing a connecting flight due to immigration and long security queues, I was simply told to buy a new ticket. I specifically asked whether booking another Air India flight would affect my return journey and was assured it would not. Later, when I returned to Sydney, I was told my return ticket had been cancelled because of the missed sector and was forced to pay a penalty of ₹27,860. No one informed me about this policy earlier. The staff were unhelpful, one employee was very rude, and there was no accountability for the incorrect information I was given. This was one of the worst customer service experiences I have ever had. I would not recommend Air India based on my experience.

Extremely disappointing experience with Air India. My booking failed, but my payment was deducted. Despite raising multiple complaints and following up repeatedly, my refund is still stuck as “Under Process” for weeks with no resolution.
Customer support keeps giving the same generic response that they are “actively working on it,” but there has been no actual progress or clear timeline. It’s frustrating to have my money held for so long without any accountability or transparency.
This has been one of the worst customer service experiences I’ve had with an airline. I expected a much higher standard of professionalism and faster resolution. I would think twice before booking with Air India again and cannot recommend it based on my experience.
Please teach your staff how to talk…
Please teach your staff how to talk specially the staff at the upper hierarchy and managing the check in baggage place.
Learn some manner on how to talk with passengers and how to deal with things
Keep your arrogant behaviour in your pocket and deal with it yourself.
I forgot to see her name that saree lady on Kempegowda airport terminal 2 at the self check in baggage site.
She literally needs to learn manners and proper hospitality behaviour.
Let you and your family deal with it.
Not me or any other passenger
Please air India if you can't keep your staff trained. Please don't be in this servic. I now see why you have 1 star.
Broken window being sellotaped at 30,000ft
Probably the worst airline I have ever experienced. On one recent flight from the UK to India in the last 6 months, cabin crew were scrambling around trying to cover a “BROKEN WINDOW” with plastic film and sellotape whilst at cruising altitude over 30,000ft. I have a video of the whole saga and recorded it specifically because of the Air India crash where all but one passenger was killed and many more on the ground were killed. I am CONVINCED the Air India fleet is NOT safe. On the flight with the broken window, the flight was considerably delayed because the aircraft was mysteriously being inspected by the Civil Aviation Authority prior to take off in Birmingham, UK. Not even the captain or crew were allowed on the aircraft. Then the situation with the broken window occurred. After several emails exchanged with Air India, they have absolutely NO concern about this and other safety hazards. On my latest flight with Air India, the cabin crew were sullen and rude, giving the impression that passengers were an inconvenience. Two of the toilets were in an absolutely disgusting state with urine puddled on the floor. Not just “splashes”, but either a leak from the toilet or someone peeing on the floor. Staff didn’t make any attempt to clean this up and the cabin repeatedly wreaked of ammonia/urine, followed by strong air freshener which brought some mild and temporary relief.
Dear Air India Customer Care,
Dear Air India Customer Care,
I am writing to express my disappointment regarding my experience on Air India Flight AI101.
During the flight, I requested a toothbrush and toothpaste from the cabin crew, but I was informed that they were unavailable. On a long-haul international flight, I believe basic dental amenities should either be available upon request or provided as part of the onboard service, especially when passengers need them for comfort and hygiene.
While this may seem like a small issue, it affected my overall travel experience and did not meet the level of service I expected from Air India.
I would appreciate it if you could look into this matter and ensure that essential amenities such as toothbrushes are adequately stocked on future flights so that other passengers do not face the same inconvenience.
Really bad airline to go with mine…
Really bad airline to go with mine flight got cancelled and they didn’t give me a proper solution and even told me that I will
Get charged for a date change which was because of their fault they are trying to beat Middle Eastern airlines but don’t want to give service or respect to their customers if they don’t fly direct to some cities in India I think no one will
Use them just a pile of shit
DON'T FLY AIR INDIA
DON'T FLY AIR INDIA - HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SUPPORT
Their customer support, including response from their former and Interim CEO, is non-existent.
I flew from Kathmandu, through India, to UK. We missed our connection due to various conflicting reasons and lies by Air India Customer Support staff. I asked for reimbursement for my lost hotel costs ($289.00 US) in UK and they are not reimbursing due to a variety of lies and contradictions. I WOULD NOT FLY AIR INDIA since they are an un-reputable firm. My flight reservation information is 9PHESI. After spending thousands of dollars to fly from the UK to Nepal, they should reimburse me for the lost hotel reservation.
Very disappointed with Air India
Very disappointed with Air India. My mother was travelling from Delhi to Melbourne on 29 June. The display screen outside the airport showed the flight was delayed, so our family waited outside. When she went inside, the check-in had closed. Instead of helping, the staff were rude and showed no empathy. They then asked for an extra ₹60,000 to change the ticket to 1 July. This was a very stressful and disappointing experience. I expected much better customer service and would not recommend Air India based on this experience.
