A Complete Scam- The Worst “Luxury” Hotel Experience of My Life
We booked a room with a lake view, and instead, we were given the worst room in the entire hotel — facing the entrance, where we couldn’t even open the blinds because everyone walking by could see straight inside. The so-called “lake view” rooms don’t actually face the lake at all, which means the hotel is blatantly lying in its advertising. There is no real lake view.
The food situation is equally disappointing. The hotel offers almost no variety, and the little they do offer is absurdly overpriced. They charged €24 for a frozen supermarket pizza. That alone should tell you the level of quality they deliver. Room service was terrible: despite “cleaning” the room, they never replaced the towels, never refilled the soap, never added new toilet paper during the entire stay, and the fridge didn’t even work — it didn’t cool anything.
We also paid for a Husky excursion at €169 per person, and it turned out to be a complete scam. The “Huskies” weren’t even real Huskies — they looked more like abandoned dogs — and there was no sled ride at all. Instead of being pulled by dogs, we were towed around by a tractor. The hotel’s promotional images showed real Huskies, but in reality, it was nothing like that. It sounds like a joke, but unfortunately, it’s completely real.
To make everything worse, on the last day the power went out for more than 12 hours. The entire hotel was left without electricity, without heating, without hot water, and without internet. When we spoke to the owner, she lied to our faces — she told us the whole city of Rovaniemi had lost power, which we later discovered was absolutely false. She also claimed the power would return within an hour, which was another lie. At reception, both the owner and the staff acted annoyed that we even asked about it, giving us a “Why are you asking that?” expression — an unbelievable attitude considering this is supposed to be a five-star resort where absolutely everything was failing, and where they seemed to assume their guests are stupid.
The next morning, instead of offering a proper breakfast after such a disaster, they tried to “solve” the issue by giving guests a sandwich with a single slice of ham, one slice of cheese, a few cookies, and juice. Pathetic for any hotel — shameful for a supposed five-star resort.
Later, when we went to the restaurant, we ordered a pasta dish and they served half a portion. It turns out they had silently changed it to a kid’s menu item without updating the menu or telling anyone. The portion was smaller than the palm of my hand, and they still charged €18. I also ordered chicken wings — the day before they gave six, but that day they only gave four, claiming “that’s how it is now.” It genuinely felt like every day they were cutting portions and increasing prices to squeeze more money out of guests. Very, very shady behavior.
To make things even worse, when checking in they force you to pay a €100 deposit for the minibar, promising it will be refunded. They only refunded €50, and then they charged an extra €32 to my card on top of what I actually consumed. They still owe me the remaining €50, which they simply haven’t returned.
In total, I spent €3,500 on this hotel between accommodation, food, and activities, and I honestly feel completely scammed.
I do not recommend this place to anyone. It is extremely expensive for what it is, and at every opportunity they try to take advantage of you. Nothing about this resort reflects quality, honesty, or luxury — only careless management and constant attempts to overcharge guests.
I genuinely expect compensation, because if I had known this place was like this, I would have never come to this resort, nor booked their fake excursion.
Avoid this hotel at all costs.
