Waited 10 months to file insurance claim and now demanding payment

My six-year-old son had an appointment at Asthma & Allergy Associates of Florida in January. He was fully insured under a Florida Kid Care plan that had recently switched internally from Continental Insurance to Aetna. Asthma & Allergy waited until October 15, 2021 TEN MONTHS LATER to inform me that they had difficulty getting reimbursed (due to the internal Florida KidCare plan switch to Aetna) and now is claiming that I owe $800.

Aetna assured me that they will still process the claim and that my son is fully covered, yet Ana Perez at Asthma & Allergy flat-out refused to even send in the claim! I gave her the contact name at Aetna and she can't even be bothered to pick up the phone and verify his coverage. I've dealt with a few unethical/illegal medical billing practices before, but can't recall ever dealing with someone so breathtakingly incompetent, belligerent, and unempathetic.

How do you just refuse to file a claim that the insurance company is telling you it will reimburse and then demand cash payment from the parents????

Just avoid this place at all costs. Seems like they have a nice little racket going on here.
