DELF Certification paid for and never received
My son obtained the DELF certification at the Alliance Française. In early November 2025, we were notified that he had passed and given the option of paying for the certificate to be shipped or picking it up ourselves. We paid the small fee and never received the certificate. We called several times to report that we hadn't received it, and they finally agreed to send us a duplicate. We are still waiting for the duplicate, and it's now February 2026.
Bad experience
Very rude staff, cancelled the course two weeks before it was supposed to start with no alternative.

We are not practicing pronunciation, almost not doing any exercises for grammar. The teacher reads all texts by herself, doesn't ask students to repeat... Since 2-3 weeks we are still at the same chapter talking about food.

Nice small group and a great positive and sympathetic teacher.

Good experience
Good experience, the structure of the course is very well done. The only thing that I didn't appreciate was that the teacher couldn't speak English, in an elementary course is unthinkable.

Excellent teachers, but very expensive - and tricky!
I have an excellent teacher, dynamic and captivating. But the prices could definitely be better! Besides, Alliance Française slightly tricks you when you register, offering the options of enrolling for one or two months. You'd say: 1 month is half a module, 2 months is a whole module. I thus enrolled myself for level B2.1 and believed I was paying then for the entire course, but precisely last week I found out that I had only paid for half of the module - something I was never told about when I enrolled, and which I found very weird: why was there no option of enrolling for the full 4 months upfront? I found this to be very tricky, and now I am stuck between paying an extra unexpected 342 € or not completing my level and therefore not getting any certificates. Besides, I realised that AF divided their courses in so many modules that it could take you up to 5 years of uninterrupted French classes to get to a C1 level.

Very good!
I'm very happy with the quality and methodology of the language course (A1) I took at Alliance Française. Kudos to Nicolas for his great work! Money well spent.

The quality of teaching is inconsistent
Sadly, the quality of teaching is inconsistent: so much depends on a teacher. I followed courses in 2013 and 2018 for the C1 levels and observed the same situation. One time you are lucky to get a brilliant teacher, the second - the opposite. It is very important for the AF to make sure the C1 level gets experienced teachers. Having a weak one last time led me to a decision not to enrol in the course that followed.

AF Bruxelles-Europe French course
AF Bruxelles-Europe French course
I am following a private French course with AF. There are things I am happy with the course and there are things not.
The teachers are friendly and most of the time, I got sufficient support from them and the administrative team when I had a question.
However, there was a change in the allocated teacher for my course without any notice period or official information from AF. There was a delay in getting feedback, reply from my current teacher. I understand that the curriculum for a private course is a flexible one and can be modified at all time but at least it should be organised and follow a certain structure. However, so far, after nearly 20 hours of studying, I still cannot find the curriculum structure and also the discontinuity made it even more difficult.
I was informed before the course that besides verbal communication to improve my speaking skill, the teacher will also focus on grammar and writing as well. However, it seems not the case, spending time talking about certain topic is interesting but not really helped me to get into the language. I proposed to my current teacher a curriculum that I followed in my previous course (at another center) and she found it interesting to follow it. So, we are following it at the moment but I do expect more from the private course than just follow a certain book that any center can offer, e.g. additional topic/material proposed by the teacher, timely communication, etc.
