Foreigners that don't understand you…
Foreigners that don't understand you when you call. Too many problems with their website! Glad this is the company I work for's problem. I will never personally do business with Ally.
trash customer service
trash customer service, useless for pressing and important needs that are simple to do at other banks. Awful app on top of that. First try im talking to someone from india who i can barely understand, next try i'm talking to some ghetto chick from wherever who couldnt care less. Cue card like responses and also slow transfer and wire times.100% garbage, again useless for when action is needed

Posted a review on March 29th 2024, still cannot access my online account. Absolutely no response from Ally at all. This company as far as cards go is the WORST. Auto department is fine, no issues, get your crap together
Theresa shouldn't be a supervisor.......
Just had a very bad experience with Ally! Recently there was a purchase that I made with my card that Ally thought may have been fraudulent and therefore marked it as such. They sent the fraud alert at 4:10 AM this morning which I was obviously sleep and wasn't able to get to until about 6:00 AM. As soon as I saw it, I immediately typed Yes that it was a legit transaction. I noticed though that Ally suspended my card, so I wanted to get that taken care of.
Long story short, Rey attempted to fix the issue but even in the Ally app, it kept saying that the card was still suspended. He then proceeded to escalate it to his supervisor Theresa. Theresa began questioning me about the nature of the transaction which quite frankly, is none of her business. But she then proceeded to blame me for the reason of the suspension of my card. Instead of trying to fix the issue, she marked my issue as "resolved" when nothing about this is resolved.
At this point, I will be leaving Ally and taking my money elsewhere. It's a shame that companies have to lose good customers all because they have employees with poor customer service. I would've definitely given them no stars if I could've!!
Stay away from ALLY bank the app sucks…
Stay away from ALLY bank the app sucks BIG time. Unable to log in on the web browser logging kept looping soooooooooooooo annoying. Hope Ally Burn to the damn ground 😠 😡 😤 😣
Horrible customer service
Horrible customer service, snarky agents, horrid supervisors. No way to escalate complaints. They make sure to tell you to F-off and will hang up on you for when they find the solution too hard. They love, love saying NO
WISH I COULD GIVE 0 STARS!
WISH I COULD GIVE 0 STARS!! worst company i have ever dealt with. you can NEVER get a supervisor on the phone and ever person you talk to is clueless and no help. god forebid you ever have a credit on your account, lots of luck getting it back! a word of advice...DO NOT DEAL WITH THIS COMPANY!! you are dealing with the DEVIL.
Got a credit card from Ally
Got a credit card from Ally. Tried to create an account online and through the app. I was never able to login after creating the account, now, 2 months later, still no online access and I am told they do not know when or if I will ever be able to gain access.
New account Locked
I opened my account 2 weeks ago. once I funded the account, they placed a security hold on it. I was told because two devices had signed in. I've answered all security questions and all I'm told is if they need more information they will contact me. 2 weeks NO access to my money.
Early wire did not get processed the same day
I processed a wire transfer at 9:30 am, for a property closing the next day. I called in the afternoon to check on it, the funds did not get processed and will not make cut-off, may go out the next day.
I don't think I will trust this bank again for this sort of banking.
They Charged Me Twice, and Blame Me!!! All Liars!!!
They charged me twice for a non auto-pay payment. They say I made the payment, well they are lying through their teeth!!! Totals lies and accusations from anyone you talk to. I am a senior citizen, I don't have a money tree in my backyard to pay unauthorized payments. Now my bank account is overdrawn and I have bills to pay with no money, thanks to Ally. Then they tell me it will take 7 to 10 days to process, and then 7 to 10 more days to mail. All the while, I have credit cards due with no money to pay, I had a 752 credit score now my score is 635 because of late payments occurring. Ally is the biggest scamming bank around. They take your money and then don't want to give it back. I had to plead to get the money, because they said they would put it towards a payment. I said I can't afford to have it put towards a payment. Then she said it would take 3 weeks to get my money. Professional SCAMMERS and Lies, Lies, Lies!!! They took $414 dollars, and laughed at me, like I was crazy for even implying!!!
Ally is Horrible bank
Horrible bank. Stay away! Trouble started from the very beginning. I attempted to open up a new account, they sent me an email stating need additional information. I provided the information. They set up the new account, but kept sending the email. Every 30 minutes they send the email again I have called numerous times and been told it is squared away. they continue to send the emails well over 100 in just a couple of days and still continuing at least every 30 minutes. my call yesterday was responded to by them saying that nobody is available on Friday but to call back on Saturday. I called back on Saturday and told nobody is available on Saturday and now I need to call on Monday. and then they have the audacity to ask “if there’s anything else they can help with?” They have not helped with anything and I continue to get these harassing emails. Buyer Beware. Ally is a horrible bank. Stay away!!!

Treated my mother worse than a dog
The way my mother was treated earlier this month by multiple representatives from Ally Bank was frankly appalling.
She’s not one to complain but I wouldn’t talk to my dog the way they spoke to my mother.
The debacle happened when she received an email about her account being flagged for fraud. Once we got on the phone we were connected to representatives who kept raising their voice and proceeded to talk over her and treat her disrespectfully as someone who speaks English as a second language.
They accused her of being coached and hung up on her twice. This was after she provided her name, last 4 digits of her social security and answers to her 2 security questions.
I get it, they were trying to detect fraud and I want to assume the best here, but the two options that would have helped her off the bat: offering a translator or letting someone speak on her behalf, were not offered at any time during this call. By the end of the second call she was humiliated and demoralized.
When we were finally connected with a Korean translator, they cut us off as the translator was talking through the question with my mom, and hung up once again.
Process-wise requesting a scan of her passport or green card, or offering an online option, allotting more time for translation, or simply being spoken to calmly and with respect, any of this would have allowed her to be treated with more dignity.
At this point, understandably, we wanted nothing to do with Ally Bank. She asked to close the account and undo the transfer. They wouldn’t even allow that.
Now we face the possibility of having to repeat this experience. My mom is an immigrant to this country, a fantastic grandmother, and my personal hero. Seeing her treated this way was heartbreaking and I do not want to put her through that a fourth time.
I’m writing because I don’t want to see anyone else’s parents treated this way. This process needs to be fixed. For now I recommend anyone that speaks English as a second language to steer clear of Ally Bank. You have many options online to bank with others. You deserve to be treated with respect. This bank is not the right choice.
Her disappointment was visible and she’s palpably hurt and will she not leave her room.
I wish I could give them zero stars
I wish I could give them zero stars, but then it won't let me write this review. I've had this card which was Ollo before they transferred to Ally, for four years. I had no problems at first until they transferred over. After that I can no longer access online banking, because it says I was not a customer. That wasn't the worst part. I can't count how many times my credit cards have been compromised, even when I never used them, but a handful of times. I've been through three different credit cards, which have all been compromised with transactions I've never permitted. To top that off their fraud/dispute team is a total waste of time. They never help me once get my money back, which was $3,000. I recently canceled my account all together and will frame my cancellation notice, when it comes in the mail. I'm sorry I spent 4 years of awful service, frazzled nerves, and no peace of mind on this company.
Ally belongs in an alley...
Ally took over my Ollo credit cards and what a complete s**t show. There online banking is laughable. You cannot load your current expenditures and have them printout -- you just get blank pages. You can review them online but there are some of us who like to print out periodically during the month to chart expenditure details. You can only print the initial page showing just the present balance. When they first took over Ollo I called and asked them why and they advised they were working on it - 7 mos. later and - nothing has changed. As soon as I get my balances paid off - I am canceling both cards - don't care if it affects my credit rating.
Absolute trash
I’ve been using Ally for several years now, about 6 years or more. The first few years weren’t bad, but that is likely due to the fact that I have also been primarily using no fewer than 5 other banking institutions for my primary transactions. Only in the last year have I been using Ally more, and every time I use it I understand more and more why Ally has so many negative reviews.
My primary complaint is that Ally promises mobile deposit funds will be available by the end of business if you submit your deposit before a certain time. However, every single check I’ve ever deposited has taken at least 3 business days to process.
Keep in mind that USAA will make mobile check deposit funds almost instantly available depending on the amount, typically in minutes (and for larger deposits maybe a few hours). The longest I ever have to wait with USAA is 48 hours for a deposit well exceeding $10,000. If Ally takes 3 business days for a mobile check less than $700, I can’t even imagine how long they would take to process a mobile deposit over $10k.
I’m glad I don’t use this bank for large amounts of money because I would have filed a class action by now. It’s criminal to take more than a few hours to process mobile deposits under $2,000.
If I could give this place -5 stars, I would. Zero stars just isn’t low enough of a rating.
I ended up crawling back to a local bank
After 5 hours on the phone, chat and emails, with about an hour of apologies from earnest Indians who told me they hoped I was having an amazing day, I dragged my sorry ass to a real bank Ally app in hand and said can you take this nightmare off my hands? They were happy to comply.
Great Online Bank
I have been a customer for several years and have had no issues. Great rates for savings accounts and upfront fees. Only downside is more restrictions have been put in place such as ATM fee reimbursements limiting it to a certain value per month. Knowing it is an online bank you are limited with certain things like depositing cash, fee-free ATM withdrawals, and some fees/latency in wire transfers. It is a good idea to have a local bank for cash/etc but overall this is an excellent online bank.
Overzealous security practices
I attempted to make a purchase at Best Buy today and my card was declined despite having well over the needed amount available. When I called, I was told there was a block on my card, and was transferred to a security department, who verified the amount of the purchase I attempted, my phone number, the last four digits of my SS#, and the last four digits of the bank account from which I made my most recent payment. Despite providing all of this information, I was told that the card could not be unblocked until I provided a letter from my bank verifying that I had the right to make payments from my bank account because it's different than the account from which previous payments were made. I explained that I'm recently divorced, and had to open a new account for myself because my ex-wife kept our joint account. The representative would not budge on unblocking the account and I had to use my debit card to buy the clothes dryer I was purchasing for my new home, which leaves my budget stretched very thin for the rest of the month. As a result of this, I will not be doing further business with Ally. I understand that policies are in place to protect consumers, but this was extremely overzealous and should have been handled better.
