Would give them a zero star if…
Would give them a zero star if possible. Avoid Ally Bank, terrible customer service, and just really have handled one fraud transaction horribly. It’s like the customer service team on the phone is laughing at you when you call them; then they put you on hold until you hang up.
Avoid financing a car with this institution !!!
In late February 2024 I purchased a Mitsubishi Outlander at Puente Hills Mitsubishi and financed through Ally Financial. Later I re-financed the same vehicle with Noble Credit Union in Fresno CA. On 5/16/24 a check was sent to Ally from Noble CU. The check was sent to Ally Financial at 6716 Grade Lane Bld 9 St. 910, Louisville Kentucky 40213. The check was sent Certified Mail. The amount of the check is $17,873.04. This should have closed my account with Ally. In the Transaction History on 05/22/2024, only $73.04 was applied towards the loan. This is a HUGE MISTAKE !!! I called customer service and sent secure messages on the Ally Website numerous times beginning July 5, 2024, and was told that they could not locate a copy of the check that was sent from Noble Credit Union and continued to harass me for more money when the loan was already paid off by Noble Credit Union. I spoke with a representative from Noble Credit Union numerous times and received confirmation that a check from Noble Credit Union was sent to Ally Financial in the amount of $17,873.04 and the Check was Posted on May 22, 20024. This should have “Zeroed Out” my Account with Ally. Since then I was getting numerous phone calls and e-mails requesting payment from Ally Financial. I would also like to add that TWICE I was told by representatives of Ally Financial a copy of the check was located and the problem would be resolved. First, I spoke to Michael, an Ally Representative, on July 16, 2024 and he told me he was able to locate a copy of the check and the account would be restored and me and my wife’s credit rating would be restored. I still would receive calls from the Collections Department at Ally Financial demanding payment. On July29, 2024, I check my account on-line and realized nothing was done. My Account was still showing that payment was past due. I contacted Ally Financial on this day and spoke to Sherry and she informed me that payment was past due. I told her about my situation and I also complained about the “Secure E-mail” site and how numerous time I would get the same message “We can't complete your request right now. Try again later or contact us for help" and unable to upload another copy of the check sent from Noble Credit Union. I requested to speak to someone above her as this problem still had not been resolved. I received a call from someone who identified herself as “Donna” from 904-486-1177 and she told me the same thing Micheal told me back on July 16, 2024 that the check was located and it could take 7-10 business days to “clear this up”. Eventually the entire check from Noble Credit Union was applied to my account not just $73.04. Very disappointing that it took 5 weeks and numerous phone calls and e-mails to get this situation under control. I'm still very pissed off at the way in which this was handled. Then on August 16, 2024, I received a phone call at 5:45 AM (PST). Yes AM, while I was still asleep from someone who identified herself as "Victoria". The number was 877-247-2559. I told her that she called me before 6 AM PST. She told me that where she was it was Central Time. Seriously ?? How stupid are these employees ? She wanted to talk to me about my account. I told her that I was going back to sleep. She told me that she would call me later and leave a message on my voice mail. I told her VM was full. She wanted to talk to me but I did not want to since she woke me up from a dead sleep. She wanted to give me a phone number in case I missed her call. I told her that I don't have a pen and hung up on her. I filed a complaint with the Attorney General's office and the CFPB. I proceeded with the complaints due to the way in which this whole processed was handled. Especially when I got a phone call at 5:45 AM. When do businesses call people at 5:45 AM and the excuse is "I'm in Central Time". I did reach out to the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau. And did receive a response from “Orlando” (no last name). My account was “Zeroed Out”. I never received an apology. The company did state they “regret any miscommunication that may have occurred and any inconvenience this matter may have caused”. To me this is NOT an Apology. I’m still mad at this whole situation and the callous response that I received from Ally Bank. Basically what they are telling me is that they wish this did not happen. STILL ! They could have said “We are so sorry for all the problems we caused you”. This would have been much more appropriate. I also asked for Compensation for my time. Have not received anything. Nothing. Not even a pen. Multi-million dollar company and I got nothing for my time and all the stress they caused me. Also, the letter was signed by “Orlando”. Orlando who ? I spent roughly over 20 hours on this “mistake”. Wasted so much time when I could have been doing something else.
Sent a pay-off
Sent a pay-off. They say it takes 10 to 15 days. Waited 4 weeks to be told they sent the check back because it was 16.71 short. No notice, no email. Just sent the check back. It's been 11 days, still no check.
Now if I send a check and if I add in extra interest (just to make sure it's not returned again) 30 days for the refund.
Failure of Ally Card to live up to credit line increase
In May of 2024 I was encouraged by Credit Karma to apply for a Ally Mastercard.I did and with in 60 seconds got approved for a 1000.00 credit line with a promotion that if you make 6 on time payments,Ally will double your credit line. Now it is 12/18/24 with 6 ontime payments but NO increase in credit line as stated in the beginning.I called Ally to find out what is going on and they said they never had any promotion like that! I said that is untrue and that was one of the reasons I applied.Seems like a Bait and Switch promotion. They stand behind their explanation and wanted me to go back 6 months to verify what i saw in the application.Seems like they falsely put sweetners in the application that they were not prepared to honor.Needless to say I gave them a bad survey.
Signed up online and was privy to…
Signed up online and was privy to someone else's history, credit limit, name and address. They denied payment from my bank and gave late fees. I could not pay on time...more late fees...I paid them off and I am cutting up the card.
DO NOT, I REPEAT DO NOT GET A ALLY CARD, YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED.
Not being able to send an email but…
Not being able to send an email but instead be FORCED to waste time on the phone, calling support, if enough for me to give a 1 star rating. Being unable to turn off 2FA is outrageous but Ally isnt the only one. They may hold your payment for a week without disclosing that on the payment page, "BuT iTs In ThE TeRmS aNd CoNdItIoNs derpa derp muh kay"
There is a limit to number of payments you can make in a given period of time which is also outrageous!
There are much better companies to get a credit card thru.
sent them a certified check to payoff…
sent them a certified check to payoff my loan-its been nearly one week and they still have not posted it paid -I spoke with them on the phone and they confirmed that they had received payment-said 5 day before payment confirmed-another ten day before they release title-another 7 to ten days to get lien back- sent payments in to other finance company's at same time and they have already posted payment
NEVER EVER do business with Ally Bank
NEVER EVER do business with Ally Bank. My son is on a fire department water rescue team and was deployed to the NC mountains due to the historic flooding. As such, he was a bit late on a car payment and could not contact Ally to make a payment over the phone due to no cell tower coverage. In turn, his credit score was hit hard. I chatted with Ally, and they refused to take this into consideration. Stay away from Ally. You would have thought they would have helped out. So, Ally, next time you need to be rescued from a car wreck, house fire, or require EMS support, feel ashamed!
Customer service is absolutely awful
Customer service is absolutely awful. I would recommend a loan office that you can go to in person or is well known. Never a clear answer or direction. Lots of "broken" features on their site.
I'm not sure why the ratings are so…
I'm not sure why the ratings are so low, I think allybank is really great? I got on the phone with customer service right away and I like how easy it is to invest from their app.
I honestly have no complaints other than the fact that the app can use some adjustments to make it a bit more user friendly.
They lie!
They lie!! Won't return calls as they day they'll have a manage call within 7 to 10 days. They don't acknowledge when their wrong and won't investigate the calls. At least they won't tell you yes we listened to the call and admit guilt. Horrible and incompetent at best.
Worst credit card company I’ve ever had…
Worst credit card company I’ve ever had in my 40+ years having credit. I noticed my paid off account showed a $104.00 charge from Instacart that was not mine. I disputed the charge, called back after a week and ally stated they needed more information to proceed. Once again I called back a week later and now there was no history of me calling. About a week after that call I received a letter stating no fraud was found and I have to pay the charge. Paying it off and closing the account. This company is fraudulent and does not care for its customers safety. I’ve been extorted to pay a charge that I didn’t make. Thankfully it’s only 104 bucks. STAY AWAY FROM ALLY
Despicable
They just sent my title to an address that doesn’t exist that I never gave them. Serious incompetency. Lots of issues with them. Evidence of fraud even.
Ally Bank is simply quite horrible
Ally Bank is simply quite horrible. I had documented phone calls on a defund due and now the calls are no longer and the notes they documented are missing. The refund promised on my lease vehicle is no longer. I am out literally thousands of dollars because my dealer that went under used them to finance my lease for a car I have no longer.
Horrible experience that ruined me financially to this day
I originally signed up with Ally Bank, as they were an online bank and at the time i was directed by my doctor to not to go into public unless absolutely necessary due to the major pandemic. I was a loyal customer for over a year, and moved a lot of money through their bank, maintaining my accounts in good standing. When signing up, they offered the ability to have my account overdrawn if there wasn't money to cover a transaction, which i declined. Regardless, My account still proceeded to be overdrawn without my permission, and then it was promptly and unjustly closed, resulting in a negative mark on my ChexSystems report and the inability to open an account elsewhere. It is frustrating and unacceptable that a banking error on their end led to this situation, and I should not be penalized for a mistake that was not mine but rather a failure in their banking system
Stranded in foreign country with debit card turned off without notice by Ally
I was stranded in a foreign country without access to my funds. Zelle cut off. Wires denied. Debit card turned off. Almost 36 hours to resolve. I can’t say enough about how terrible this bank is. It’s borderline criminal. The worst part is no notice was given that my card was to be turned off for fraud protection. The details would cause your head to explode. And there’s nothing to be done about it. Beware. Stay away from this bank.

Got call from fraud department due to suspicious activity I confirmed I was not making any charges and had my card in my possession. They still let charges go through and made me file dispute and now I have to wait 2 weeks while they investigate charges they called me to verify as suspicious!?! Ally is trash
It’s the worst company possible .They…
It’s the worst company possible .They have NO idea what IT means and just help with setting firewalls and emails . Then they charge exorbitant money and Negative value
PLS STAY AWAY FROM THEM
I wish i could leave a negativ star…
I wish i could leave a negativ star review. What a pitiful excuse for a financial institution. They closed my account without notice due to too many transactions in a specific time frame. Ridiculous. Stay away Ally is a headache
