DO NOT RENT FROM THIS COMPANY IN ISTANBUL!!!! I booked a rental through Expedia Alma Car Hire in July 2025. 1-They tried to give a compact car instead of mid-size SUV. 2-My credit card was charged $1,178.77 by a company called COMET RENT A CAR ISTANBUL as a deposit for the rental vehicle. They are not returning the deposit back and they do not respond to any inquiries. When I searched for COMET RENT A CAR ISTANBUL, I found out that they have been scamming bunch of other people by not returning their deposits back.

Rented a car from Alma from Heraklion airport which was booked through a pre-paid voucher from Go Rental Cars.

When returning the car to the exact same place I picked it up from at the exact time I was contracted to bring it back I was told by the man at the office not to park in the bay outside the office (the exact same place I picked it up from) but instead to park it somewhere opposite.

When attempting to park it opposite I was told by a male from another rental company that these spots were for his vehicles, and that I could not park there.

Upon attempting to return to my original bay, I was again waved on by the man at the Alma desk who pointed in the same general direction as before. I had no other option but to park in one of the spaces opposite.

I then returned to the Alma desk and attempted to return the vehicle key, only to be told that the vehicle was not an Alma rental vehicle (despite Alma being on my rental voucher, and the fact that I had picked it up from the Alma desk), and that he would make a call and someone would come to collect the vehicle.

Shortly afterwards a huge argument kicked off between the owner of the rental company that owned the spaces opposite due to the car being parked in one of their bays, after which the man at the Alma desk attempted to vent his frustration at his own incompetence on me by claiming that he had told me to park somewhere else, which was a total fabrication.

Extremely rude and unprofessional attitude and all round terrible experience, would not recommend.

DO NOT RENT A CAR FROM HERE!!!! We still have not received our rental deposit after 3 months. Nor an update after several points of contact. Very disappointed. We were told we were put on a list. Unacceptable.

I was really upset about this treatment from the supplier , they were forcing me to take another smaller car and when I refused, they told me the problem with my credit cards which nonsense because they shock when I understand their language, I when back to the airport and get another car from AVIS rental car without any problems on my credit card as they mentioned earlier, another point to the help center which they shall give me alternative options with the same price as my booking was before 4 months but they leave me with no options or pay more than 30% extra and it wasn’t my problem it was from the supplier but they still not believing me, find the attached picture for open the complain as no problem with my credit card as promised from the help center which.

I am sorry to say that, your options from me will not be at my future booking as loosing trust your application and other broker gives better options with more benefits.

as I understood from them they will cancel my booking and they will get benefits. Directly when I left their office I had an WhatsApp SMS as attached below, they will solve my issue but I need to pay the difference which is like fraud and deception amount around 3,800 Euros!

We came to take a car. Had a reservation. Office lady asked to wait 30mins. Outside. We were with children. Outside 35-40C. We came back after 45 mins. She asked to wait +1h. When we came back she asked to wait +2h. When we asked to use a toilet, she told we dont have :D
If she knew that we will not give a car minimum 4h...why do not say the true? Or not let people with children wait inside where is AC?
Does it cost a lot- a humanity?

I had an extremely disappointing experience with this car rental company in Larnaca Cyprus. The first car I received, an Opel Insignia, was already damaged—with a broken right side mirror and filthy seats. The very next day, I discovered the A/C didn’t work in 40-degree heat! After I called them, they did agree to provide a replacement car the following day.

However, what came next was even worse. Without any prior notice or clear evidence, they charged me the full €800 deposit for a dent they claim I caused. The photos they eventually sent as “proof” arrived nearly three weeks after the charge and do not convincingly show that the damage occurred during my rental period. This lack of transparency and professionalism is completely unacceptable.

To make matters worse, the initial contact upon arrival—the woman who drove us from the airport—was extremely impolite and rude.

I strongly advise anyone considering renting from this company to think twice. If you want a reliable vehicle and honest, professional service, look elsewhere.

Terrible experience they took much more money from us than the booking in Rhodes.

Warning — proceed with extreme caution

I am genuinely shocked to be writing this negative review, especially given the high ratings and positive feedback that led me to book with this company. Everything seemed fine — until I returned the car 15 minutes earlier than planned.

Not once did the agent mention that there would be a 50 euro “early return” fee. There is absolutely no mention of such a charge in the rental agreement. What’s worse, the agent personally processed the charge under his own name, not the company’s. This is highly suspicious and raises serious concerns about honesty and ethics.

It feels like this so-called fee was simply made up on the spot, and charging it through his personal account is a major red flag. This is deceitful and a blatant conflict of interest.

Bottom line: If you choose to rent here, double-check everything the agent tells you. Ask for written proof of any charges. Don’t assume anything is as it seems. You’ve been warned.

Amazing car rental service in Marrakech!!! The communication was very quick and easy. They were on time, the car was amazing, service on point. We would definitely recommend this car rental if you want a trustworthy service!

The agent contacted me via WhatsApp before my arrival to advise me where to meet at the airport to bring me to the rental. The transaction was smooth but the car was given with a empty tank of fuel. The car was in good condition and have rented many cars in many different countries but this was the first rental asked to have the car washed before returning it. As I did not know that, I had to pay the agent when returning the car.ĺ

Do not hire your car here. They require credit card with full name. Then they directly withdraw 800 euro from your credit card as deposit. No reservations… First car you get: loose underpanel, lots of noise during driving. Then you bring the car back with a small scratch on the bumper. Your full 800 euro is charged. The invoice is already there. They say: the insurance will pay anyway. Stay away from these scam artists. They operate under Alma car rental, Drive Rent a Car and Abby Car.

The fraudsters who will claim you caused damage that was clearly not caused by you and then keep your 800€ deposit. In addition they will give you faulty cars.
We received a seat leon that lost air in one tire which we had the car alert us about after driving 40km. We brought it back to them and they seriously asked us to bring the car to a repair shop and pay for it ourselves. We insisted they repair it and they eventually did. Days later, when we tried to return it, they tried to make us responsible for a dent we cleary didn't cause and tried to keep our deposit telling us to get our money back from check 24 (the company we booked it through and we had full insurance with) which would constitute insurance fraud. We refused, called check 24 and even they told us it was likely fraud and we should call the police to document it. Police didn't come after 3 calls despite driving past the airport twice. The owner of alma car hire laughed and said he always wins.
This company will play with your lifes by giving you unsafe cars and take your money. Avoid at all costs.

Marrakesh airport office did an excellent job. They meet you in the airport parking lot (2 min walk from terminal exit) and the whole process takes about 5 minutes. Friendly multilingual staff. No problems with the car, even after 9 days on dirt roads, etc.

Worst company. I booked a mid-sized car, but they gave me a compact car and lied to me that it was the same class. Even though I had full coverage insurance, they demanded additional money for administrative costs and towing fees. If you don't want your trip to be ruined, avoid this company. Never, ever use this company. It's a fraud company.

I had made the reservation through a website and at first it seemed like a good offer when I arrived at the counter to pick up the car. First they took all my ID, driving license, credit card and everything looked good. Then they asked me to pay an additional €100.00 for ,road assistance, something that was not mentioned anywhere in the rental terms. When I pointed out to the cashier that they had a deposit of €800.00 in case I did not return the car exactly as I received it, he replied that if I did not pay the additional €100.00 (non-refundable) they could not give me the car, so I simply
Of course I did not proceed with the pick-up of the car Since I had prepaid the price, I felt insecure that upon return I would have other charges, I was forced to rent a car from another company, last minute booking which means I paid a much higher price, now I am trying to get at least my money back from the site where I made the booking.
Do not approach this merchant, better a little more expensive and rent from a branded company

Scammer Rental Car Companies

I rented a car in Istanbul. I made the car rental transaction through the vipcars.com website as the car rental company “Alma Car Hire” and the car delivery was made at the “AutoUnion Car Rental” office. The credit card payment receipt says “Comet Rent A Car”.

I made highway crossings with this vehicle. I made the toll payments of those who had Cash/Credit Card toll booths at the highway crossings via credit card at these toll booths. I notified the car rental company of this situation when I delivered the vehicle.

The car rental company adds a 35% service fee to the HGS toll for the toll transactions made with the HGS tag in the vehicle and reflects the result to the customers by adding VAT at 20%. In other words, by adding a service fee to the HGS passes, the VAT of which has already been included by tollway company, and adding VAT to the result again, it reflects a total of 55% additional expense to the customer.

The aforementioned car rental company invoiced me a service and VAT fee to the passes that I had already paid at the cash toll booths and withdrew them from my credit card against my will.

Although I reached vipcars.com and the rental company many times and explained the situation with the payment receipts, they did not correct the situation. In fact, they keep trying to get away from this case and not wanting to resolve the issue.

The HGS fee they should normally charge me:
47+39+370 = 456 TL + 35% + 20% = 706.80 TRY
The HGS fee actually charged to me: 2908 TRY
Amount I have been damaged: 2908 - 706.80 TL = 2201.20 TRY

Apart from this, the vehicle is delivered to me dirty that I had to clean my window and mirrors in order to drive safe.

The car condition was awful. It was full of damages, yet the company made me sign a paper which states no existing damage (before showing the car). The car was also not maintained. While I was driving, I heard noises from the gear box, and they didn't even mention any of these conditions when I received the car.

This company is a total SCAM. Stay away from renting any car from them!
