It's a shame that there isn't a zero star option

It's a shame that there isn't a zero star option because Alton Sports are worthy of it.

I bought a pair of Leki running poles from onbuy.com which would be coming from Alton Sports. I received an email from onbuy.com saying that they would be sent out Amazon Logistics and had the tracking number and estimated delivery days. I tried finding a way to track the package but was unsuccessful. I contacted the store though onbuy.com a few days after the estimated delivery date had been and gone to ask if they could track the package. They said it had been delivered. I said that I hadn't received the package which is when it started getting strange.

I asked if they could provide me with any proof of delivery other than just saying the courier company had said the package had been delivered. They couldn't. I asked them to check the address was correct and they said it was. I told them again that I hadn't received it. 2 days pass and they ask for video evidence that it hadn't been delivered. I said I couldn't. I asked if the courier had taken a photo (normal practice) or if the package had been signed for, no answer. Then they said could I provide them with GPS whatever that means. I was told to buy a doorbell camera and contact the police if I believed the package had been stolen by the courier. I told Alton Sports I'd opened a Paypal claim and I was told I should move house and again to buy a doorbell camera. I've been called a scammer which is ironic given their recent reviews.

I wouldn't use this company if they were the last place on the planet to buy a pair of running poles or anything else for that matter.

Hi James

Item was delivered as provided details here - 10 days ago QB0255669356

You claimed non delivery with no evidence and that we should send out another £175 pair of poles for free, your dispute with paypal is under review and you have not responded with any evidence to argue against a tracked GPS service we used therefore may lose, discrediting us on trust pilot is unfair given the delivery details (I have provided for clarity)

Hi Jamie

Sorry you feel that way and a shame we can't post pictures for others to see on the threats you sent our staff on boxing day (of all days)
you have so far left over 50 negative reviews on ebay - Here is your username so others can see your feedback theshizznizz-uk

We 100% sent the correct shoes and ultimately tried to reverse the transaction when the item got held up due to postal strikes

You received a full refund either way which is what you chased down

Null points for customer service

Null points for customer service. Trainers ordered came up several sizes too small but when I contacted, someone who didn't give their name refused to accept/acknowledge, instead replying: 'Shoes can vary... models can change over time and not all shoes will fit the same. We are not paying for you to try shoes on'. I was taken aback by complete lack of customer service and will not order from Alton Sports again.

Hi Imogen

Sorry you feel that way, ultimately yes, if shoes don't fit the cost is borne to the buyer to send them back, this is common amongst many retailers, since our business model can't support free postage and free returns for people to try items on, we are constantly reviewing costs and how we operate to improve. We offer free postage for faulty and damaged items

Absolute shambles of a company

Absolute shambles of a company. I placed an order, the courier left my item in an unsecured place and it was subsequently stolen. Altonsports fobbed me off, ignored my emails and just generally didn’t want to help at all. I ended up getting the money through my bank claiming it back. I’ve ordered a few things from Altonsports in the past, but I won’t be using them again.

Do not order from this company

Do not order from this company! Ordered a product two weeks ago no update on tracking and no parcel has arrived. Rang the shop everyday since last Wednesday and all they advise is they will email the office. Again today been told all they can do is send another email. They could not call the office or provide me with an update. Been told to call back again in two days shocking service. When asked was the product available he told me he didn’t know but they have happily taken my funds. The person in store recommended I raise a dispute with the bank as he realises what a shambles it is. Pathetic.

I've placed an order and i've never…

I've placed an order and i've never received an email confirming the purchase, i contact them to see if they could tell me about the shipment or if they could hold the item while i was on holidays but received a very short email basically saying it was not on their hands to do that and I didn't received an email from any courier either so to this day i have no idea where the item is, terrible customer service.
In response to you, i never demanded i asked if it was going to make it in 2 days to send it and if not if you could retain it for me as many shops do. So I would pay it and you hold it for me for a couple of weeks (reservation) never demanded as i knew it would be almost impossible that would arrived on time but at least i was hoping you could keep it safe for me but obviously it was too much trouble. Maybe you read my email wrong could be a language thing. I've never had a bad experience in any outdoor shop and i buy from many, needle sports, ellis brinham, nevis sports, joe browns, v12, cotswold, sportdirect etc Your staff just couldn't be bothered.
THEY HAVEN't refund anything yet, beware

Hi Maria, sorry you feel you had a bad experience. I would like to clarify a few points - you ordered a bag and demanded (not asked) it be shipped same day to arrive before your holiday in which was amongst bank holiday and royal mail strikes, we explained it would be shipped and likely arrive after Saturday, you then asked for an immediate refund where we then explained it had been shipped and not possible but would accept extended returns. You were not happy about this. You have since been fully refunded. Best Regards

Brilliant, Knowledgable, Friendly & Patient

I've just shopped for new trainers both trail and and road. As always the attention and patience of the staff was impeccable and I cannot fault the recently started Mat and his female colleague. They were so knowledgable and helpful. Thank you both, I'll be back soon for certain and I highly recommend everyone into running to use them. Brilliantly independent shop.

Confused with mixed emotions.

This company has left me utterly mind boggled and disappointed.
It first occurred to me that something was peculiar upon placing my running shoe order, and no delivery date was presented. I emailed forthright, enquiring for an estimated time of arrival. To their credit, their response was fast. Against their credit, I can only assume they lied (with very poor grammar) when they told me my item had been dispatched, and an automatic confirmation email from Royal Mail was due to 'arrive soon'. It did not arrive soon. A few days later another follow up emailed was concocted. Again, a relatively speedy, and this time well written, response confirmed my deepest fears; apparently a 'bar coding error during the final stages of packing' revealed the shoes I ordered were in fact out of stock and they would either send a slightly different pair or process a refund. I opted for the refund which has proved successful, after a couple of days and one final meddlesome email.
So here I stand, at the end of my journey with Alton Sports, shoeless, but with a full pocket. Suspicious, with a catalogue of question:
Were they lying or in fact telling the truth?
Would they have contacted me about their error if I had not contacted them first?
Would the replacement pair of shoes have arrived if I had chosen them instead of the refund?
Why does this company seem to do this so often, according to other reviewers?
Why do they consistently have unavailable products available for online purchase?
Perhaps they just a poorly organized organization?
But surely replying to upset customers and coordinating refunds requires far more effort?
And why are the products just a little bit cheaper than anywhere else on the internet?
Is this some sort or scam or money laundering facade? Lord knows!
Encompassed by a shroud of ambivalence - left confused and quite frankly disgruntled - no reasonable conclusion can be formed.
One thing, however, is clear beyond doubt: for future sporting purchai, I will be running clear of Alton Sports.

Truly awful awful company

Truly awful awful company. Please do not use this company for online orders. The communication is shocking ! They are incredibly rude and I even got told today by the area manager that he would hang up on me and not refund my money even though I have not received any product? I had to chase up every step of my order and was then told they were out of stock and I then had to chase the refund of my money.

The area manager called me on his personal mobile and said ‘you now have my number incase of an issue’ so I called him back o. It to find out where my refund was and he said ‘why have you called me on my personal number ?

I got the impression this guy gets off on arguing and confrontation.

But what I think is the worst thing is that they seem to be very very defensive about negative reviews instead of rectifying their horrendous service.

Hi Sally. Thanks for your review

We are sorry your feel the service was poor, but we would like to clarify a few points as we are saddened by the unfair story told.

We understand there was an issue with your order, we of course apologise for that.

I rang you on my Mobile (as we can work remotely) 24th May to discuss the order, you wanted a refund - no issues here to do that (You accused us of theft at this point in writing and on the phone) I called you back on the 24th to process, no answer or response and yes, more than happy to accept phones calls from you as I said. I rang you twice on 25th May 3 hours apart, left a text and voice message to process your refund however you did not respond. You then called me on 26th May demanding a refund immediately, you wouldn't let me get a word in edge ways and frankly, you had no idea what I was doing at that time or where I was. I was finally able to calmly explain I was unavailable to do that at that present time as I was covering in store, not near a card machine without your order details and I would call back in an hour. (This would have been resolved had you got back to me when I called you the day before) Quote from yourself - "don't I have better things to do that sit around waiting for a phone call" You swore at me, called this company cra*p and wouldn't accept my words, I could have infact, been enjoying a day off hence my urgency called you over the previous 48 hours

I called you back at 13.30 (40 mins later) and provided the refund instantly as requested with no hesitation and settled the matter

On top of this I would like to clarify we offered you partial discount / gifts to keep an alternate colour shoe which you declined

Many thanks

Having made a general mistake due to…

Having made a general mistake due to there being a glitch with clear pay and default trainers size mess up.you can not cancel order or amend it simply because they process so quickly so this option is absolutely ridiculous to have on their questions and answers.even to I messaged with in 1 Min and 11 min after oldering.and and when I rang their offices twice they said there is nothing they can do as I went through a online selling site so to speak called fruugo.very unhelpful and it's really is a shame as I've been using them for so long and to be honest there prices are great. But customer service I wish I could give no stars.avoid in my opinion

Rude staff is unacceptable

To be honest, this is one star too many. The level of customer service at Farnham branch is a joke with staff disrespectful to the general public.

I walked into the store not wearing a mask & was made uncomfortable by the staff. I would have left without a fuss had it not been for a member of staff being rude as I left.

Will spend my money elsewhere in future.

Awful

Awful, stay clear. Ordered and paid for trainers, had to follow up with emails unanswered, calls not picked up, eventually got to speak with someone who, although I had ordered and paid proceeded to inform me they did not have it in stock! Do not waste your time and money with this company.

Let’s stick with the truth. I’d have more respect with someone who just accepts that customer service was below par as you conceded on the telephone call with me today. Let me remind/take you through the facts:

At 12.44 I placed and paid for my order.

I received an invoice (not from Alton Sports) but no confirmation email from Alton Sports which is the usual set up from online purchases.

I emailed at 15.25 this email, the context is as per usual in the subject box.

Subject:Order/login
Hi please could someone call me on xxxxxx
Many thanks
C

I can resend this email if you would like a reminder of it.

I don’t like a liar, so your stated ‘ and proceeded to blame us for your account password issues in which you emailed us from 2 different accounts trying to chase up where the order was at the same time (This is not a reasonable timeframe to start chasing companies for orders) IS COMPLETELY FALSE.

This can be verified from the two individuals whom I spoke to who I rang to ask for a contact number to speak to someone and who will both confirm I was never chasing the order, they will be able to confirm I wanted to speak to someone to
1. Confirm that having paid for my order and not received a confirmation email from the company that you had my order.
2. The reset email on the website was not working as I explained on our telephone call, I initially 2 days ago had an account attached to the site but could not remember my password so tried to reset it. After trying numerous times waiting more than 10 minutes I gave up, and had sent via email I was unable to access the site, this was 2 days ago and as to date not received a response. I had set up another account today to place my order and was unable to reset my email.

‘We were back on the phone by 5pm trying to sort this for you once we were aware of the issue…………

I called the stores for a contact number after informing the person as stated above of the 2 reasons, Joe from one of the stores kindly informed me that he would contact the area manager/warehouse manager (one of the two, I forget which one) and get him to call me. You seem to give the impression you were making lots of calls, let’s keep to fact, an employee gave you my number and you called it. There was no persistent rudeness and abuse down the phone, I had one conversation with one employee from each store and both were polite and helpful with their response.

Again, let’s stick with the facts rather than trying to cover your back……you falsely claim ‘we put your order and gave you time above many many other enquires today that we were still dealing with (and now further delayed) due to your persistent rudeness and abuse down the phone to our staff in order to resolve for you, subsequently you asked for an immediate refund which we have complied with.

You seem to have a very short memory of our conversation today.

You didn’t put my order, let me remind you whilst on the call you confirmed I had placed and paid for the order only to ask me to hang on, then came back to me to inform me that although I had obviously been able to place and pay for the order Ghost 14 trainers you then informed me that the infantry was wrong and there no stock of the item, that I had paid for, so consequently I asked for a refund. Very conveniently left out of your version don’t you think.
You also were able to confirm whilst on the phone that there was an issue with the reset password link.

The truth always comes out in the end:)

Hi

This is not an honest nor accurate version of events, we would love to clarify this for you and for other AS customers

You placed an order today at 12.44PM having made a new account because you couldn't log into your old one (forgot password) You emailed at 15:25PM directly asking for a phone call (with no context why and proceeded to blame us for your account password issues in which you emailed us from 2 different accounts trying to chase up where the order was at the same time (This is not a reasonable timeframe to start chasing companies for orders)

After placing your order you rang stores to try speak to someone (despite our website directing you to our email address) and we were back on the phone by 5PM trying to sort this for you once we were aware of the issue

We put your order and gave you time above many many other enquiries today that we were still dealing with (and now further delayed) due to your persistent rudeness and abuse down the phone to our staff in order to resolve for you, subsequently you asked for an immediate refund which we have complied with

Shocking Customer Service

I bought a pair of Mizuno trainers from this company and after 6 months of light use the trainer souls have begun to fall off. This is obviously a quality issue as I have seen many other reviews showing similar issues. However, Alton sport customer services would not even consider a warranty claim and basically called me a liar when I told them I had only ran 100-120 miles in them. They continued to falsely claim I had run hundreds of miles in them when that was not the case. This should of been a simple Warranty claim that should of gone straight to Mizuno yet Alton Sports didn’t even attempt to reach out to Mizuno. Their standards on quality is obviously poor which is why they think it’s normal for shoes to fall apart with under 6 months of use. It also makes me wonder whether the trainers are actually real as my last pair lasted me years. Terrible company and very unhelpful. Don’t use.

Hi Gary

Thanks for your feedback.

Rest assured the shoes are authentic despite your accusation and Mizuno have readily seen pictures of the shoes in which they were deemed not faulty as per your assumption and have failed a warranty claim due to natural wear and tear, the soles are well worn and do not show signs of light use, this is consistent when comparing to many other shoes from various brands and Mizuno direct, as explained blown carbon rubber can only wear through friction and in this case you have worn through the soles which is not consistent with 100 miles use. The shoe will naturally start to wear out over time just like a car tyre would

We offered a large discount on a new pair which still stands. We advise changing shoes after 12 months or 350-500 miles to prevent injury
