They are a fraud

They are a fraud! They charged the full deposit claiming it is done automatically by the credit card company and that they will send us a refund. They never sent the money and they stoped answering our phone calls and emails so we never received our €1,000 back!!!

Worst car rental company

It is the worst car rental company I have ever used.
The car I was given was all scratched and had low pressure in the tires and the mechanic icon on. And the worst of all after returning the car no one was there to pick it up, we left the keys at the mailbox.
2 days after they claimed the car had damages amounting to +1000€, which is absolutly fake and they charged us for that amount.
I have been trying to contact them for months via mails and calls they never reply.

Complete scam/Fraud

We arrived in Malta and straight away we’re told that our car that we ordered was not available which we payed £151 for. They stuck us with a small banged up car with scratches everywhere and the whole side caved in. We took pictures of the car before taking it out and when we came to bring the car back there was nobody there so we put our keys in the key box and went home. We’ve been back for 2 weeks and now we’re getting calls from them saying that we will be charged £532 for the damage on the car in addition to what we payed for the car that we hadn’t even ordered in the first place. Absolute scam they’re already being investigated and we’re calling the police aswell.

Terrible and stressful experience

Very poor experience. We arranged for car hire as part of a villa holiday with Jet2Villas, trusting that Jet2 would use trustworthy and reputable providers.

On arriving in Malta we collected the rental car. The rental operator didn't even have their own office and shared a noisy, busy space with a number of different providers. We took detailed pictures of the car before and after rental - the car had a number of existing scratches and dents on it. We were advised that 1500 euros would be blocked on my credit card for 30 days in case of any damage to the car while we had rental. If any charges were applied, we could reclaim from our insurance (taken out via Jet2Villas).

On returning the car to the airport, nobody was available in the office and we had to use the key box to return the key. We took detailed pictures that the car was in the same condition and topped up with petrol as agreed. I also sent several emails to Wheego/Amaze asking them to confirm that the car had been returned in the same condition and releasing the 1500 euros 'held' on my credit card. They did not reply to any of my messages, and then I noticed a charge of 909.12 euros had been applied to my credit card by them. I received no communication from them to advise what this charge was for. I have sent them further messages attempting to clarify what this charge is for, and have received no response.

I have raised a complaint with Jet2Villas, which they are currently investigating, and am also raising this via my credit card provider. As stated by previous reviews, this is fraudulent activity by the car rental company. I am very disappointed in the holiday provider for continuing to use a car rental company who are clearly dishonest, untrustworthy and have a pattern of fraudulent activity towards customers. DO NOT USE!

Beware the scammers! Police is investigation.

Definitively the worst rental car experience. Just like everyone says, they do not block your deposit but deduct it from your credit card instead. After returning the car they will deduct more money from your credit card without any invoice of a damage. Furthermore they will not refund the deposit and do not answer any calls or Emails.
Fortunately I have booked my rental car via Wheego whose partner used to be AMAZE Car Rental in Malta. After a lot of emails and phone calls back and forth with Wheego they could force AMAZE Car Rental to refund my deposit and as I issued a chargeback for the additional 436,60 Euros which was deducted from my account as well with no confirmation by me, I was also able to get this money back after around 6 weeks.
I filed a police report and they are currently investigating against AMAZE car rental who also operates under other names, but it is the same office in the rental car building in Malta. So, avoid these scammers and rent a car from a professional car rental company. As for now, Wheego also cut ties with AMAZE Car Rental as a reaction to their criminal behavior.

Poor experience with Amaze Car Rental

I rented a car from Amaze Car Rental in June 2022. When I picked up the car, I left a deposit of 1500 euros of which 1000 euros in cash. The agreement was to meet the departure day and get back the deposit after returning the car. When I returned the car, nobody came to check it (despite the agreement) and I was asked to leave the keys in the key box. I was reassured that the deposit (including the cash) would have been transferred back to my account. They never transferred the money. They claimed that car was damaged but they never provided clear evidence about it. I did not experience any accident during the rental. I have filed a complaint through the European Small Claims Procedure but after more than 1 year I still could not get my case solved. Overall I would avoid this company due to fraudulent practices, lack of transparency and poor communication.

Amaze car rental charged for damage but refused to provide invoice or answer emails

I rented a car from Amaze Car Rental at Malta airport via a booking with Wheego car rentals. I returned the car as agreed but nobody was around to inspect it. The following day a transaction for ~€680 was posted by Amaze Car Rental to my credit card. I did not receive an invoice for this amount, nor any details about any damage to the vehicle or otherwise why I was charged this amount. When I emailed and called them, they just stalled and stopped answering. My insurance provider would not cover the charge as there was no invoice. Instead I had to claim the charge back from my credit card provider. Avoid these guys, and take lots of photos of the car and make sure they OK the car on your return.

Don't rent a car in Amaze / Wheego…

Don't rent a car in Amaze / Wheego agency. The car was in a bad state, the car broke down one day after, and they stole us 1400€ on our 1500€ deposit! Without providing any document and without answering to our calls and emails. We made a report at the airport policy. Go away to avoid any problem...

Avoid these scammers at all cost

Avoid these scammers at all cost.

On my Discover Car rental car voucher I was assigned WheeGo but AMAZE Car Rental managed it upon my arrival in Malta, which was very confusing.

Their “office” was on the second floor in the arrival hall across WHSmith, behind some unmarked doors. The only reason I eventually found them was that I got in touch with some other confused customers in the official Rental Car area in the next door garage. They had managed to get in touch with one of the AMAZE Car Rental representatives.

Upon signing the contract, AMAZE Car Rental tried to charge me for “late pickup” because my flight was delayed 2 hours. Shameful. They also tried to charge me for having a driving license issued less than 2 years ago. Seriously! I’m over 50. Fortunately I had an electronic copy of my old driving license. Because I did not buy insurance through them, they put a 1800 EUR hold on my credit card. Big amount, for sure, but no big deal, I thought, as I was already fully insured, should something happen at no fault of my own.

I took very detailed video of the car at pickup to make sure I would not be charged for any of the 14 dents and scratches already on this vehicle.

The week in Malta was very nice. Driving on the left was no issue for me. Although I live in USA now, I used to live a few years in England.

The key drop box was very convenient when I dropped off the car in the early morning the day of my departure. But in hindsight, I set myself up for this fraud, as I could not be present when they inspected the car. They did clear the “hold” of 1800 EUR, but they had charged me 703 EUR two days after my departure without explaining why.

A reputable and serious car rental company would have communicated with me the result of their inspection and make sure I could comment on any issue they might have found. But not AMAZE Car Rental. They charged me 703 EUR for something which has still not been disclosed to me two weeks later. Scam.

A reputable and serious car rental company should know that, if indeed something would have happened to the car, I need in my turn file a claim through my insurance company. But they charged me 703 EUR without any notice, documentation or proof, which makes it impossible for me to file a claim on my end.

The British rental car agency called Zest has this to say about AMAZE: “They only operate from Malta (Luqa) Airport so they can focus on putting customer service first.” Seriously? They care nothing about you. They only care to charge your credit car and scam you as much as possible.

I have spoken to AMAZE twice on the phone. Both times they assured me they would send their finding me detailed final invoice by email. Two weeks later, still no email. Now they won’t pick up the phone or respond to my emails. And their voicemail is “full”.

I have a vey detailed video of the car condition before and after rental. It was returned in same condition. Yet they scammed me.

I’m shocked. Please avoid AMAZE Car Rental at all cost. They will silently and without explanation take your money. Anyone knows not to share your credit card details with online fraudsters. But in the car rental business, these scammers have found a way in which hapless customers have to do just that per the rental car agreement. But have no doubt, you now allow them to pull any arbitrary amount from your credit card and they will laugh at your foolishness.

There were so many nice things to see and experience in Malta. Unfortunately the dishonest car rental company left our experience on a bad note. These folks are a disgrace to Malta and to the Maltese people. I doubt I will ever go back there.

The car we got already had a lot of dents and bruises when we picked it up. A hubcap was even missing. In a way I don’t mind, the car took us where we wanted to go. But when AMAZE car rental charged us 703 EUR extra without explanation, I now think I know why they are renting this dented car to customers. So they can attempt to blame and charge each one of us for the same dent and bruises. Scam!

I am in the process of filing a complaint about AMAZE Car Rental with the Malta police. I’ll also try to get in touch with the airport, who is facilitating these fraudsters with a front desk. I hope this review will deter at least someone from ending up in the same mess as I did with this company.

Check out amazecarrental website and you might get an idea how “empty” this company is. (At the time of writing this, this website does not exist!)

Regards.

AVOID THIS COMPANY @ ALL COSTS!!! - ZERO STARS

AVOID THIS COMPANY @ ALL COSTS!!!!!

A group (4) of us hired the car in Malta through Booking.com. Wheego/Amaze wanted a holding deposit of €1,500 for damages which is very high but we thought hey-ho so paid this on the credit card! We got to the airport, and they didn't have a professional location like the rest of the other car rental companies but a spot in a room of 2 other car companies & no-one was present at the time which is fine. However, we called one of the reps who said someone would be with us shortly and waited around 30-45minutes to be seen-not a great start to the holiday! Everything was fine until check-out!! One of the reps who carried out the assessment on the car noticed a small dent & scuff at the right rear of the of the car which wasn't there the night before. The damage looks like it would have cost €50-€100 at the very least and they told us we needed to pay €1,100 which we were fuming about. They requested for us to pay the funds again as they had "released" the holding deposit so a further €1,100 was paid using a debit card and coming back home to the UK, the money has been taken out of both bank accounts. Our driver has 30+ years of experience and has also driven buses & licenced to drive all vehicles and has never been in an accident before so this was very shocking as the car was parked in the hotel car park so we believe it's either the car next to us made that dent whilst trying to park or the company themselves created this damage in order to take the deposit. PLEASE NOTE THAT THIS COMPANY IS ALSO OPERATING UNDER WHEEGO BUT ALSO JOINED WITH AMAZE CARRENTALS WHO ALSO HAS NEGATIVE REVIEWS ON TRUST PILOT FOR SCAMMING PEOPLE!
