American Standard Water Heater Company problems

6-16-23
American Standard Water Heater Company is a NO CUSTOMER SERVICE company. I bought a 40-gallon propane water heater from a local dealer in Fresno, CA for a total price of $858.13. I installed it on 3-13-2022. The pilot light would not remain lit when the red gas button was released. I called their customer service number. They tell me they cannot find a local plumber to come out for a service call. I live in central California that has a population of nearly a million people but they cannot find anybody. The tell me I must find a certified plumber myself, call him up, and arrange for him to come to my house to fix the water heater. They say they will pay for a maximum of two hours of labor at no more than $150 total cost. They tell me I must send them a copy of the invoice and I will be reimbursed. I do what they say. I find a plumber. He comes to my house, looks at the water heater, communicates with their customer service representative, and gets it working. I pay the $125 invoice cost and submit it to American Standard. After three months of waiting, I still have not been reimbursed. I did call them up to verify they received a copy of the invoice, and yes they did receive it. They told me I must wait a little longer. They obviously have no intention of reimbursing me. I do not recommend buying American Standard Water Heaters. You could have trouble like I did. Their warranty is practically worthless.
