UNRELIABLE AND SCAMMERS!

I had 3 different appointments in 2 days. 1st the eye doctor was working virtually. The 2nd time the technician who runs the tests prior to seeing the eye doctor was out sick. The 3rd time I was seen both by the technician and eye doctor. I got my eye exam done and got my glasses. Insurance paid, I made my payment and the lady who checked me out gave me a discount for the troubles. My receipt says I owe zero dollars. Now I have received 3 paper bills the last month via mail saying I owe a balance of $113. After calling them they said the lady who gave me a discount had no authority to give me a discount and I need to pay them. I than called my insurance company and I am moving my business to Lenscrafters as my insurance company has a contract with them too. I WILL NOT PAY THEM & I'M HOPING THIS WILL LAND IN COURT SO I CAN COUNTER SUE. Don't Use This Company.

Buyer Beware – Terrible Experience, Lost Property, No Accountability

Buyer Beware – Terrible Experience, Lost Property, No Accountability
I gave America’s Best Lenses two pairs of Oakley frames—one being a pair of Flak sunglasses, the other a pair of oakley frames in a microfiber bag and hard leather case—for new lenses. What I got back was a nightmare: only one original frame returned, the other replaced with a cheap, generic knockoff. The Oakley Flak sunglasses? Gone. The leather case and microfiber bag? Gone. In their place? Two flimsy wool sleeves like something you'd find at a flea market.
When I went back to confront them, the manager gave me attitude and offered a “replacement” from their display that wasn’t even close to what they lost—nothing of similar style, quality, or value.
I’m now out over $500 trying to replace what they lost. I’m working in getting in touch with corporate to attempt to get even partial compensation, but so far, no resolution.
Bottom line: they lost my high-end gear and did nothing to make it right. Avoid this place unless you’re cool with being treated like your property—and your business—don’t matter.

Update: they did contact me today and offered to outsource new frames of the same style. However after being told that was not an option yesterday, I went right to oakley to order replacements. The refunded me the entire order of $159. The replacement frames were $214, but since the other pair of lenses are free now valued at $55. But its not really worth pursuing further.

I've heard other locations are better.

Ordered my child glasses on 7/8/25 said they would arrive first on 7/14/25. On 7/15/25 tried called customer service 1-800-999-4758 and 1-800-411-1162 and 1-800-355-7277 which all 3 telephone numbers were not working. I called local store and they informed me that the phone lines were down and would be back up Monday 7/21 /25 tried and still no luck. Tried again on 7/24/25 omg the line were working. Asked about my order and was told I would receive it on 7/26/25. Well got it today. One pair of glasses and extra frames. My order form clearly shows 2 pairs of glasses. I’ve been on hold for over 49 minutes as of now. When I spoke to them yesterday Layla said she would have a supervisor call me. Don’t this that happening. Not sure how a child is supposed to wear lens only no frame. This company is a joke.

Classic bait and switch

Classic bait and switch. Advertises affordable glasses with exam. For that price you will get glasses that are pretty unusable. To upgrade, prices jump quite high. You're better off getting your exam separately from glasses.

DO NOT ORDER GLASSES ONLINE

The people in the store were so nice. I was not overly concerned by the remote appointment format because it has been proven to be effective.

HOWEVER, DO NOT ORDER GLASSES ONLINE. They were supposed to arrive within a week, and I have been waiting a month. 3 weeks after the order I got an email saying that they had shipped - except it gave an invalid tracking number. In-store personnel cannot see online orders and emails/calls to the corporate customer service have gone completely unanswered.

This is the kind of behavior I might expect from a random overseas ebay seller, not a national level company.

I would give them zero stars

I would give them zero stars. It became a part time job trying to order online. They lost my order, then cancelled my order. That became a two hour wait on the phone. No, never again.

I went into America's best to get my glasses fixed. Becca at the Lakewood Washington store was very helpful. She is so helpful but I decided to transfer from Pearle vision to America's Best. I am so glad I did that they're just very friendly and thorough. Thank you Becca!

America's Best has allot of young inexperience staff in their New Braunfels location. They are nice and do their best but can not deal with prescription/glasses that are difficult or complex. If you have a simple RX and will accept their eye glass selection this a good economic choice, other wise find a more experienced provide. Spent twice a much for my glasses from America's Best and after three sets can not wear them. Note you have 30 days to return to Office which was not shared with me and they do not call when your glasses are ready. Very frustration experience.

I wish I’d looked at reviews before…

I wish I’d looked at reviews before going. My son had issues with added charges and I’ll be honest, I thought he just had not paid attention. But I went in one day looking at pair eye wear frames and asked a LOT of questions about what my insurance would cover etc. I asked the same questions the day of my appointment. AFTER my appointment they disclosed that my insurance wouldn’t cover my diabetic eye exam but they always have previously. Then I was told I misunderstood another charge. Ended up spending $45 out of pocket after being told $0. Better than my son who spent $89 over. Buyer beware.

SCAM?

I went to get simple glasses after cataract surgery. I saw the surgeon the day before and was cleared to go. The surgeon conducted pressure test and mapped by eyes. Said my vision was 20/25 in one eye and 20/40 in the other.
The pre screener at Americas Best said my vision was 20/40 and 20/60. She then said by law they had to do a pressure test. I asked what law and she then said well.....
I left. Not sure if they are incompetent or trying to scam.

I won't even give them 1 star

I won't even give them 1 star. I bought 2 glasses, 1 of them for work and because the curvature i can not wear them (I can't see anything with them) that's what I was told and got the money refunded. Unfortunately the other glass i can not see from the left side and asked them to get them fix for me but I was told that I have to pay again for the exam and glasses. There's no way that I will pay for something that was not done correctly in the first place and to repit the same mistakes? There's no way.

RIP OFF

My wife and O bought glasses at America's Best in Brandon, FL late last year. We paid in excess of $ 200 for 4 pairs.

I did not wear one pair until last week - they were duplicates of one pair that I already had so there was no need. Wouldn't you know it - one leg was broken.

I went to the store on Monday to see about repairs. They had the nerve to quote me a price of $ 80 for repairs. Ridiculous - you get 2 brand new pairs for
$ 80.

An ABSOLUTE RIP OFF

Clerks are not well trained for this office

Without a lab the wait time is 2 weeks. I ordered two pair, same frame and same prescription. It's been 11/2 weeks, received call for pickup; however, only one pair arrives. Asked the clerk where is the second pair, she says maybe it was two different frames. As she is holding the paperwork, I said read the order. She said she doesn't know when the second pair would arrive, and asked for my name. Again I reminded her that she has my paperwork and she went to the computer and said sometime next week.

Went to the downtown Chicago location

Went to the downtown Chicago location. First lens were the dr had done wrong. and I was given another eye exam free. But when I went to pick up the finished glasses the girl did not even check that the bifocal was in the right location. Did not give me a card to check the reading or how the distance seeing was. Did not adjust my glasses, only handed them to me and try to send me on my way. When I said that the ear pieces needed to be curved around my ears, she heated them, bent them, and handed them to me while she walked away. Put them on the see how they fit now and boy were then hot. Needless to say I was not happy with my experience.

Terrible quality lens, no compensation for poor product

This has by far been my worst ever experience with a glasses lens company and I have been a glasses wearer for 15 years. I initially went in to get new lens put into an existing frame with an outside prescription. They filled this prescription and the lens were terrible, making me feel dizzy and disoriented. They suggested I get re-tested and then they can try again. We did just that and I got back the second set of lens and the problem was still not solved. Despite being slightly better, my periphery was completely out of focus and there was still a jarring disoriented feeling. I tried to allow my eyes to get used to this for a few weeks and had no success. I resorted to going to another lens place that filled them and provided high-quality lens that were perfect. Thus, the quality of product that America's Best Lens promises is not upheld and people should exercise caution when buying their lens. I tried to receive a refund on these lens and was informed by one employee that this shouldn't be a problem and that a manager would contact me. The manager never did contact me and so I reached back out only to be denied the refund because I was outside the 30 day refund window. While I appreciate they have a policy around refunds, they failed to understand that I allowed time to try and let my eyes adjust to these poor quality lens and then had to allow more time to explore another option (trying to give them the benefit of the doubt). All of this takes time and the fact that they lie about the quality of their product and fail to compensate people in any capacity who have been duped by their system is abhorrent.
