Avoid or you’ll pay through the nose!

Went to the Amplifon in Eastland with my mum because her hearing aid seemed faulty.

We had a pleasant initial experience with the sales woman Suzanne.

However, after completing my test which I did for “fun” while waiting for mum to do hers. I was told I had significant hearing loss despite having no issues with hearing except the occasional difficulty in very crowded rooms/restaurants with bad acoustics. Throughout the test I could hear people walking in the centre through the test headphones and Suzanne talking my mum throughout her hearing test but apparently not the test sounds.

After, we were both told we had significant hearing loss - I was sceptical but accepted a follow up appointment as did my mum.

Despite being there initially for about a hhour mum still didn’t have her hearing aid looked at.Apparently they needed to know if it was in warranty and the audiologist needed to run some more tests.

After sitting another longer “more thorough” test today the audiologist said mum’s hearing was 95% but that she’d need to transfer all her care to them and the membership would cost $1500! Yes, $1500…

So not only did they waste both our time and then not look at her hearing aid because she wasn’t a “member” - they basically said she didn’t need it which is either incompetence or their methods are flawed.

After my mum said she’d have to think about that kind of outlay the audiologist excused herself and spoke with Suzanne who informed mum unless she was a member she wouldn’t get the results of her 1hr+ long hearing test.
Avoid this company at all costs!

They are clearly not interested in your care unless it’s via a significant chunk of your wallet.

Disgusting!
