16 month wait and a huge bill

a very honest review of my experience, i ordered and had a bushtech cannopy fitted to my truck. first the good parts;

the staff where very friendly when i arrived and had lots of good conversations about the cannopy and accommodated me offering coffees and a place to sit which was nice.

the bad points;

i placed the order back in december 2024 and was told it could possibly be a few months but it was all depending on the shipment from south africa so i was happy with waiting a few months for this. i paid a deposit of half the cost which was around £1700. i waited and waited for 7 months with no word so sent an email to ask the status and received a reply stating that the sales where slower than expected and when i placed my order the container was full so they didnt have an estimate and to keep waiting.

fast forward 16 months i recived a call saying it was ready to be fitted so i headed up and got it fitted. i was asked if id like lights which i said yes too and i also asked them if they could mount my tent to the cannopy which they agreed to which was helpful.
it came time for the bill, the invoiced cost at the start was £3,500 of which i paid half so i was expecting only £1,700 to pay. i was then presented with a bill of £2,400. this was the remainder plus lights, roof bars and labour for fitting. i wasnt told the lights would be £300 and wasnt ever told the roof bars where £400 and i was also charged for 6 hours labour even though fitting was included in the original invoice(i assume this was for the tent however it took 2 hours, the rest was cannopy fit) so i was extremely disappointed with this, i paid up however and was just leaving when one of the guys came back and said ive made a mistake with your bill come back inside, i was then presented with a further £400 charge because they had used an invoice from another customer to charge me. at this point i was completely over the whole process so i paid and left.

i left the shop with outstanding disappointment as i felt i had been completely robbed by the entire process, from the in my opinion deliberate withholding of the status of the shipping situation to get the sale and then the lack of communication to the insane total at the end and the extra charges i wasn't aware of and at no point was i told these bars and lights are X amount and are you happy with that. then the final rush to get another 400 pounds from me was in my opinion taking advantage of the situation. i genuinely dont believe this was done maliciously but i do believe that they withheld the true situation with shipping, took advantage of my patience and took advantage of the request to fit the tent.

in summary i waited 16 months for a canopy and then was charged extra for stuff and wasnt ever told about the cost of these items.

extremely disappointed and upset with the process and from the communications previously i don’t belive i would be able to contact the company with my concerns and be met with understanding and support, i believe i would be told thats what it costs if you don’t like it go elsewhere so i haven't done this.

the actual canopy itself is great quality and i have no issues with the parts supplied its just the business practices and communication issues.
