The Hope Project

The Center saved my life. I initially went to the center for an eating disorder that had come on rapidly and forcefully. I was taught portion control and healthy meal options. I was set on the path of discovery to see why an eating disorder became my coping mechanism. The staff is very knowledgeable and empathetic. I went back to the center a second time to really focus on my depression, anxiety and bipolar disorder. The team believed in me while I had little to no hope for myself. They truly saved my life. I'm two years out of treatment and doing well. Life is not always easy but I learned amazing skills to keep life manageable. I couldn't be more thankful for my time at the center and the team I had. Y'all rock.

Amanda, your sense of purpose and direction are important factors to overcome difficulties in life. We are so honored to have shared this healing journey with you, and even your willingness to return to The Center reveals an inner strength that no longer lies dormant within. You can stand proud and believe in yourself ~ that you are worth it ~ as this mindset mimics HOPE. While life is not always fair, you no longer have to be trapped in the arena of darkness (depression, anxiety, etc.), but can step into the light of living by continuing to implement the skills you garnered at The Center. We wish you the very best as you continue to press on in spite of life's obstacles, and remember, you are the most important person in your life!

We are victorious.

I had no purpose, no self-worth, no reason to live. I was dying a little inside every day. I came to the center at my very lowest after a suicide attempt and at that time I realized how much I had hurt my family and friends and that God had given me a second chance but I didn't know how to change, forgive myself or cope with all these unhealthy thoughts and feelings. Well not only did I get the best therapeutic team that must have been hand-picked by God who showed me my worth was from the inside, I also made friends who validated my feelings and accepted me for exactly who I was and supported me through the entire process. It was hard work, but the rewards were life changing. I bless the entire staff who guided me and encouraged me day by day and I will always cherish the time I spent with the women at the VICTORY house.

My Experience at The Center

I came to The Center desperate for hope. I had struggled with depression for most of my life and obtained very little relief from medication and psychotherapy. While at The Center I learned many practical skills that I continue to use on a daily basis, more than a year later. I also did some deep digging into all things emotional. It was hard work but absolutely worth it! I believe the staff at The Center are completely committed to helping hurting people find hope. That was certainly my experience and I can honestly recommend The Center.

The Center saved me and my marriage

Before going to The Center I was depressed, hopeless and anxious all day long. I took it out on not only myself but especially on my husband and children. I expected my husband to create my happiness and felt overwhelmed and rent full towards my children. After one week at The Center I had discovered how dependent I had become on my husband and learned to take accountability for this. In addition I started to work on my self esteem issues, worthiness and difficulties I experienced with my children. At first I didn't feel worthy of being in treatment as I hadn't experienced any overt trauma, but The Center changed me and 3 months later I am continuing to thrive with the tools I came away with!

Katie, thank you for taking the time here to be transparent and honest. Asking for help is never easy, but I applaud your willingness to embark upon this healing journey for you and your family. Remember, our struggles are meant to 'refine' us, not 'define' us. Wishing you the very best as you "continue to thrive!"

You will be supplied with "tools" that will benefit you.

I came to The Center with a "wish list" of sorts. Did I leave with all my wishes coming true? Sadly, no. But, instead, I left with multiple resources and tools to continue the healing and growing process. Even though I was able to work through a few things while there, I actually left there with something more important and foundational than the things on my list. I left with a new sense of worth and self value that I hadn't even noticed was in such a mess. It made a huge difference in being able to handle some of my other issues. In over a year, I have had no suicidal thoughts! I dealt with forgiveness there, as well, and can say that even though circumstances may not change, that forgiveness is solid and holding. Is The Center perfect? No more than we are. I cried and got frustrated and said I was going home for than once. But I am thankful that I didn't let a few things throw me off track. The staff that was there during my stay were all excellent...knowledgable, insightful, and truly caring.

The Center provided me with the necessary tools to be successful in everyday life.

I enrolled in The Center as a husband, father, friend, disciple, and priest whose emotional and spiritual immaturity led to exhaustion, anxiety, and depression. The first week was challenging because I was away from my family, whom I love and depend on very much. I was also concerned about the stigma that would be attached to a 50 year old male who quit his job and needed more help than prescribed medication and a local counselor could provide.

Four weeks after enrolling at The Center, I left a much healthier and happier person. The one-on-one sessions, group sessions, readings, and daily assignments helped me to dig and reach the core of my exhaustion and panic. From that vantage point, I was able to build a foundation of skills that I continue to use everyday.

The comment that always stuck with me was the I needed to put the world into my recovery, and that my recovery needed to be at the forefront of each day. Just yesterday I found myself falling back into the old traps that led me to The Center in the first place, and I immediately went through my materials and found a worksheet that was a class exercise for moments just like the one I was experiencing. I made myself sit down and complete the worksheet, and by so doing I was able to return to a place of peace and calm.

Like anything worthwhile, I have to practice the skills I learned everyday, with no exception: They are as important as the air I breath. The other component that I loved was the spiritual component. A living relationship with Jesus Christ and Scripture are at the heart of how I try to live my life. I also believe that God and prayer are at the heart of The Center, and the staff is very good at not pushing an agenda that might otherwise get in the way of someone's road to recovery.

As a result, my faith was renewed and refreshed at The Center. The staff was gentle and affirming with its presentation of God's Word, and they knew exactly how much to administer with each dose 'to feed me and bring me back to life'.

At the end of the day, I realized that my road to recovery was no different than the other's who gathered at The Center, people who gathered with a need of hope and a future. I can say that nothing short of a miracle happened in my life over that four week period, and in the process I made some incredible friends and reclaimed my life as it was meant to be lived.

Finding Joy

Before The Center: A Place of Hope, I could not differentiate between happiness and joy. Located in the beautiful and serene town of Edmonds, Washington, The Center provides a safe and loving environment for one to begin their own healing journey. The staff at The Center are professional, passionate about helping others and work tirelessly to create a safe environment where one can rediscover their core values. From my very first day I felt seen, heard and cared for by every staff member that I interacted with. Being given a new set of tools to navigate through the ups and downs life throws at me, I have discovered that I have a choice, and I choose JOY.
Whether you are struggling with an addiction, depression, past trauma, or needing time to re evaluate your life's path, The Center and their amazing staff are ready to serve you, by meeting you exactly where you are on your healing journey.

A true life saver

I unreservedly recommend The Center to anyone struggling with emotional issues, anxiety, depression, no matter the source or cause. They offer an amazing staff that truly cares about you as an individual. Group classes and on-on-one sessions help you identify your core issues and give you the skills to work through them. I found I learned so much from the classes, but also so much invaluable help and guidance from my peers at the Center. If you go in accepting what is offered and are willing to make the changes necessary to get better, I have no doubt you will not regret the choice to come here. For anyone disinclined due to the religious curriculum, let me say that as an agnostic Jew, I had no issues with the program. There is no proselytizing or judgments made about anyone. I am and will be forever grateful for my experience there. And now my wife is entering the program, and I am so excited to see how much she grows and develops coping skills to overcome her own depression, anxiety, feelings of worthlessness and history of panic attacks. If you've tried other programs and been disappointed, you must come to the Center and see for yourself.

Pro's and Con's

The workers were brilliant. Some of the living conditions were pretty good, but otherwise some were pretty bad. The overall teaching is DBT, which is okay, but in severe circumstances, it just doesn't deliver. The price is a too high. And I wish they had bigger facilities at the Center. The medication that I received virtually saved my life.

I left a new man

After drinking every night for over 13 years I had become quite sick. When I went to a detox facility they had to take me to a hospital where I ended up spending three days in intensive care. I was running out of options. I traveled from Georgia to Seattle to get help at the center. Now it's six and a half months later and I'm still sober and rebuilding my family. I have a new perspective on life that I didn't think I could have before. If you need help, this is the place to go!

Possibly one of the most important places influencing my needed input for change in my life.

I rated the center excellent because the needed love and care in my life was experienced fully while I was there. I was so grateful to have a chance to live elsewhere, with no agenda except new knowledge and care and love in my life- purely self evaluation and care, which doesn't happen in most people's lives in daily normal living. I was able to take the necessary time to learn and reflect, which produced needed change. Desperate change. The leaders there were exceptional in their knowledge and skills and care. I especially love the holistic approach....treating so many avenues of health. The only thing I would change was how fast I had to leave due to insurance denying any more treatment. My exit plan was rushed, and there has been no follow-up as they said. But fortunately for me I am self motivated to continue on path of change and was able to get local input. They were exceptionally generous with me in so many ways that even no follow up seems minor in light of what I experienced.

I learned a lot at the Center and gained new life skills.

I spent 4 weeks at The Center and learned a lot while I was there. The DBT classes were very helpful, as well as classes in Women's Anger, Grief and Loss, and Boundaries. I enjoyed the individual therapy sessions as well. Thank you to everyone who helped me to have a great experience, especially Renee.

Changed my life

I have been to several treatment centers in my mental health journey. The Center was by far the best.y mom went in December 2014 and recommended it so highly that I went the following spring. I learned skills there I'd never even heard of that equipped me to handle problems and emotions in entirely new ways. I'm so, so thankful for the staff there, and for the wonderful team they helped me set up for aftercare. You get what you put in, for sure. Be honest and be ready to work hard on yourself. There is a lot of information to absorb, so try to just accept it and take it in at first, before you judge it and wrestle with it. That's what finally helped me make the most of my time there.

Provided what I needed the most

The Center knows what they are doing. My treatment program kept coming back to and building on Christ, which is exactly what I needed and expressly wanted. And with that foundation, together we explored all the areas that were helpful to my recovery. Since my treatment, I have experienced positive and lasting changes in my spiritual, emotional, mental, and behavioral life.
