Been dealing with Arag law for the first time and my experience has been overwhelmingly positive from everyone I have dealt with. All the staff have been knowledgable, understanding and helpful. I have been dealing with Archibald mostly and I would not hesitate to recommend. He has took time to explain things to me in language I understand, listened, been approachable; his conduct has the refined balance of always been professional with a reassuring and human touch. Unfortunately my experience has been so disappointing. An insurance that I’ve paid into for many years, and now I actually need there help they are to busy! I have been promised information and a call back on at least 8 occasions and still yet to receive the information I need. I raised an official complaint which has also achieved nothing. As someone running a busy business on my own, I feel completely let down by the lack of support I’ve received. I have a deadline to respond to a money claim against me and will have to do this on my own. Very let down customer who will be leaving on my renewal.

I have access to free legal cover through my Post Office home insurance policy and was put in contact with ARAG. Throughout my discussions they were non-transparent, instructed me not to send a breakdown of my email evidence and how it links together (which implied they would do that themselves), this was a case involving roughly 200 emails. They never asked me any questions about my case. It appears they rely on a person’s inexperience in legal matters to influence how the case is presented in merit assessments.

My case was sent for review to what appears to be their own in-house barrister, presented as ‘independent’. ARAG denied my legal cover. The barrister report omits linking key emails to points that would contradict the review, ignores specialist medical advice, and omits mention of multiple instances of strong material evidence along with multiple other serious issues. It appears this was done to under-assess my case and prevent a fair review, so that it would not meet the required merit score to qualify for free legal cover. They then immediately solicited me for private fixed-fee legal services for the same matter, despite knowing I have a disability and limited income.

Other customers report similar issues on Trustpilot — not just on this profile but under other ARAG profiles, and similar concerns have been raised on the Post Office home insurance Trustpilot. Their conduct raises serious Solicitors Regulation Authority (SRA) and FCA concerns.

Overall, this was my experience: incompetent, unfair, and untrustworthy.

I worked with Khuram Iqbal during my employment dispute and found him to be a source of excellent legal advice throughout the process.
