Arc’teryx Warranty & Repair Process – My Experience With Delamination and Fabric Failure
I’ve been a loyal Arc’teryx customer for years and own multiple jackets, pants, and packs. I love their gear for its design, comfort, and performance in harsh conditions. Unfortunately, my recent experience with the **Arc’teryx Limited Warranty** and repair process was disappointing—especially as an international customer.
The jacket I sent in had several serious defects:
* **Lamination delamination** at left/right armpits, collar, both cuffs, and hood
* **70D fabric lamination issues** across the entire jacket
* **Textile leaking** throughout
* **Seam tape separation** at the hood
* **Abrasion damage** to the backer fabric at the hood
These issues directly affected waterproofing, durability, and performance. Based on Arc’teryx’s premium reputation, I expected these defects to qualify for repair or warranty coverage.
Instead, I was instructed to **ship the jacket to Switzerland** for evaluation. After paying for international shipping and waiting, I was told:
> “Due to the nature of the damage and age of this product, it is unfortunately beyond our Arc’teryx Limited Warranty… While this product may be beyond the warranty, we’d like to offer you 20% off a new Arc’teryx product.”
To a jacket used only 2 years on the street and walks and not used to the limit like other clothes I have and that still maintain their quality.
This outcome could have been determined from photos, saving me the cost and hassle of sending it overseas. The process felt inefficient and not customer-friendly—particularly for buyers outside North America.
I understand no product lasts forever, and even high-end outdoor gear made in China in large production runs can have defects. However, Arc’teryx should improve their **warranty pre-screening** to avoid unnecessary shipping costs and delays for loyal customers.
Arc’teryx still makes some of my favorite outdoor gear, but this experience has made me more cautious about relying on their warranty and repair process—especially for expensive **GORE-TEX jackets** and other technical outerwear.
Top-notch gear for hikes and treks
I’ve been using the Gamma pants and Proton jacket from Arc’teryx, and honestly amazing doesn't even begin to cover it. These pieces have become essential for my hikes and backcountry treks. The Gamma pants are incredibly durable, comfortable, and move with you no matter the terrain. And the Proton jacket? Lightweight and easily packable into my backpack's side pocket and keeps me warm without overheating, perfect for alpine summer hikes.
Terrible online shopping experience in Europe
I am writing this review after my formal complaint, sent a month ago, has been completely ignored by Arc'teryx customer service. For a brand that charges such premium prices, the level of service I've received is an absolute disgrace. Potential buyers in Europe, especially France, should be aware of what they might be getting into.
My nightmare started with the delivery of my first order. Arc'teryx uses DPD for standard shipping in France, and the experience was a circus of incompetence. I first received a notification that my package was broken. Then, the next week, DPD pretended nothing had happened and began a series of fake delivery attempts, each day citing a new, ridiculous excuse: the package was broken again, my door needed an access code (standard for any apartment), and that the parcel shop was closed (I personally verified it was open).
When I finally received the package and decided to return it (given its troubled journey), the process was another headache. Unlike competitors like Patagonia or even Decathlon, Arc'teryx doesn't provide a convenient, scannable return label. They just email you a PDF, leaving you to find and pay for your own sticky paper to print a label. It's an archaic and customer-unfriendly system.
Thinking this was just bad luck, I placed a second order from their outlet. That was a mistake. After six days (four full working days), the package is still sitting in Germany.
To summarize:
Incompetent and unreliable shipping partners (DPD).
An outdated and inconvenient returns process.
Unacceptable shipping delays.
And worst of all, a customer service team that completely ignores formal complaints for over a month.
The quality of the clothing means nothing if the company cannot handle the basic logistics of getting it to you or responding when there is a problem. This has been one of the most frustrating online shopping experiences I have ever had. I expected so much more from a brand like Arc'teryx. I will be taking my business elsewhere and would advise others to do the same.
Not Helpful
As Arcteryx give a life time repair warranty on products, that is now false information to my knowledge and they don't repair anything that has been looked after, and just say it is damaged to ware and tear when the glue on the seams has just dissolved - which is due to the quality of there product not the use of a jacket. They offered 20% off a new product when it's just a slight repair needed or recycle the jacket which is stupid when it is wearable the seams just need repairing. The customer service was blunt and useless, asked for advice on how to repair but just outright ignored the email (rude).
Don’t buy the footwear for hiking
Don’t buy the footwear for hiking, it’s for fashion not for what it’s described as.
The footwear isn’t good enough to walk English hills, I got a pair of trainers for £220, they ripped after walking 30 miles… they said sorry and said they will swap them… I got boots for £190 and the stitching inside has came away…. I’ve asked for a refund and they are offering me 20% discount on another pair… don’t buy if your interested in nature walks.
arcteryx Customer service at arcteryx is terrible
arcteryx's outlet site is terrible, customer service is also very rude, not dealt with, outlet site sells discounted items, but because of the outlet's system error, resulting in the shoes I purchased were not discounted, but bought at the original price, looking for customer service a lot of times, customer service said they will not deal with the refund of the difference in price!

I'm writing to express my deep dissatisfaction with both the quality of your product and the customer service I received
I purchased two pairs of Norman LD3 shoes around the same time. One of them has already worn out and developed a hole in the sole, which is highly disappointing considering the price and expectations of durability.
I initially reached out to your customer service team and provided pictures of the defective shoe. I received no response. When I called, I was informed that there had been issues with email communication and was asked to provide a different email address, which I did. I then sent additional pictures and my receipt, but again received no reply.
I followed up with multiple phone calls. Each time, I was asked to provide more information, which I submitted promptly. Last week spoke with Derek, who requested further details and assured me someone would follow up. That never happened. I called again and spoke with Will, who finally informed me that your shoes come with only a one-year warranty, which had already expired.
I find it unacceptable that this crucial warranty information was not communicated at the beginning of the process Instead, I was repeatedly asked to send more documents and spent a considerable amount of time following up over the course of nearly month and a half. This experience has been frustrating and unprofessional, and I feel like my concerns were not taken seriously.
I am extremely disappointed with your product and even more so with the level of service I received. Based on this experience, I will not purchase from your brand again, nor will I recommend it to others.

I’ve been a loyal Arc'teryx customer for over 18 years and have recommended their products to countless others, especially in my role as a mountain leader. Their gear used to be the best—reliable, durable, and worth every penny. Unfortunately, that no longer seems to be the case.
I recently purchased a £600 Therme Parka for commuting. After just two years, the seam near the zip failed—a major flaw for such an expensive item. I wasn’t too concerned initially, as Arc'teryx offers a “lifetime of the garment” guarantee. However, the repair process was anything but smooth.
The initial email response from customer service was abrupt, though they did eventually provide a return label. I sent the coat off for repair, but it took eight weeks before anything was returned. To make matters worse, the delivery was left in a box on my driveway without notice—and unsurprisingly, it was stolen.
After some back-and-forth, Arc'teryx agreed to send a replacement. Disappointingly, that too was left unattended on my drive—though luckily, I was home to receive it this time.
The replacement coat feels thinner and of noticeably lower quality than the original. At this price point, I expected much better. Sadly, Arc'teryx now seems more like a fashion label than the premium outdoor brand it once was.

HORRIBLE! DON'T BUY THE SOCKS! I bought some socks together with some shorts to shop locally and encourage a Canadian company. Although the socks were XL, around the leg and ankle area, they were so tight, I had to take them out immediately. When I contacted the customer help line for a refund as the product is obviously defective, I just received a very weird answer boasting the product quality. SO MUCH FOR SHOPPING LOCAL!
Excellent Lifetime Support
So many companies promise to stand by their products. But rarely does one actually do it and make it easy for the client.
After a decade of my raincoat protecting me through some of the worst imaginable conditions, the hood drawstring started to delaminate.
I contacted Arc’teryx who replied quickly, took full ownership, and offered me simple, fast solutions. They were generous and extremely helpful—without blame or excuses—and exceeded my wildest expectations.
Now, I’ll have a new coat to keep me dry on future adventures. And in addition to thanking them, I thank my old jacket for being my mighty shield, countless times and without fail.
It saved my day in downpours walking to work. It saved my freshly-styled hair walking home from the salon. And, it saved several irreplaceable vacations, turning potentially ruined or canceled events into no big deal. Like fishing in the Arctic, visiting one of the world’s tallest waterfalls in Quebec City, a boat cruise through Georgian Bay, or celebrating a milestone birthday on the patio at a 5-star restaurant overhanging the Atlantic Ocean in Portsmouth, New Hampshire.
From one fearless outdoor adventure to another, Arc’teryx never let me down, keeping me happy and dry. Chapter 2, here we go!
Arc'teryx - No Longer the Product it Was
My experience with Amer Sport (Melbourne) and Arc’teryx last month (April 2025)…
For context, I have been an avid supporter of Arc’teryx for close to 30 years. My Wife and I have owned maybe 15 – 20 pieces, perhaps more, over that time.
I have a 4 or 5(?) year old Alpha SV, worn less than 12 months in total. Seam tape is coming off and the material has delaminated in multiple places. Amer Sport, who now own Arc'teryx, declined to do anything about it, either under warranty or via a paid job. They said that it was beyond "Practical Product Lifespan", an ambiguously defined term. Their warranty guy was less than sympathetic. “Abrupt” would be a better description.
In the past, up to last year, Arc’teryx was very generous with their product support. They would readily replace an item, if it was a manufacturing fault, or if possible, repair it for a reasonable sum. It did not matter how old it was. No more. The warranty guy at Amer let slip something that implied that the warranty period is now less than 1 year. He said he would have entertained a claim if the jacket was less than 12 months old. That is very poor for a once-great brand, and for an AUD1400 jacket, marketed as “Our most durable GORE-TEX PRO shell. Designed for severe alpine conditions”.
I took the jacket to a very well-regarded outdoor equipment repair shop in Melbourne, but they were not able to do anything. They returned the jacket with the comment, “Unfortunately the jacket has clear signs of delamination on hood, hem, arm sleeves and rear. Unable to repair.” The rep also thought the quality of Arc’teryx had declined.
This prompted some research, and it now all gels.
Arc’teryx was once a great company, as founded by Dave Lane & Jeremy Guard, with a reputation for toughness and quality. It made equipment that was to be used in the harshest of conditions. The target market was professional guides, SAR, serious outdoor enthusiasts, etc. No longer.
I obviously don’t have the inside story, but it all seems to stem from Arc’teryx being taken over by Amer Sport and ex-Lululemon executives. They company is now moving into the mass-market, streetwear segment, using the cachet it formerly enjoyed as high-end technical wear for marketing. Look at the website and the products. Grottoflage? Veilance?
Walk into the Melbourne flagship store and it is a very glitzy fitout – like you might find in Zara or H&M, versus a specialist outdoor store. 99% of the buyers seem to be young Chinese (there are even signs in Chinese in the store), most of whom I would bet have never worn hiking boots, ski boots, or climbing shoes. You certainly would not go there to get advice on technical issues.
Tying it all together, the new target market for Arc’teryx does not require the expensive quality of the former products. They are fashion pieces, not meant to last. Cheaper material and manufacturing quality helps the bottom line, as does the winding back of product support.
I have bought my last Arc’teryx piece. Should you buy it? Depends on what you want. If you change your gear annually, have a generous budget, and spend more time on the streets of Melbourne or Beijing, and the label means something to you, then go for it. If you are indeed looking for technical wear, and you will know if you are in that market, then there must be better choices. An AUD1400 Alpha SV jacket that totally delaminates in less than 12 months wear, with no product support, is not it.
I feel sad about all this, but Arc'teryx is no longer the company it was. Don't know what I will go with in the future. Maybe Norrøna or Stellar? I have a pair of their Lofoten ski shell pants, and they have been great.

Unable to verify payment is all I keep getting, back and forth with customer service has been futile, but it seems from doing research that their website is massively flawed and unusable! Nothing wrong with my payment card, browser or anything else for that matter. ARCTERYX, YOU NEED TO SORT OUT YOUR WEBSITE!! It is blocking out genuine customers

Disappointed with Quality and Customer Service – 6 Weeks and Falling Apart
I purchased the Kopec Mid GTX Boot Men's just six weeks ago and I’m shocked at how poorly they’ve held up. The foam is already crushed and falling apart, and yet the tread shows almost no wear — clearly indicating these boots haven’t seen hard use. I only wore them for light yard work, casual walks, and local trails. Nothing extreme.
Arc'teryx refused to offer me a replacement, citing that I’ve had previous warranty claims none of which involved a product failing after just 6 weeks. Instead, they offered me a 30% trade-in voucher — which feels more like a slap in the face than a resolution. They even asked if I was racing in them? These are hiking boots, not running shoes — are you kidding?
For the price, you could buy two pairs of Columbia boots that would last far longer. These feel like fashion boots now, not technical gear, and it’s obvious that either the materials have been downgraded or they haven’t been properly tested in real-world use.
They’ve lost my trust. If a company doesn’t stand behind its product failing after six weeks of light use, I feel obligated to warn others.

My son purchased a shell ski jacket ($900), after one season the gortex repellent failed and the jacket absorbs water. We shipped it back and they declined the claim, said they would clean it as it had a couple stains, we received it back, still stained. Never purchase from the again!

Worst experience. Do not buy these coats! I had mine 2 weeks, spent a fortune and sat down at a soccer practice and got a one inch tear. I was told to drive downtown an hour to drop it off and then they called me to tell me weeks later to say they won’t be fixing it but would send a patch. The patch doesn’t even match the colour or fabric. I will never buy from this store ever again! Their jacket fabric is not designed for busy Mom’s or active people. Rip off!!!!

I have had 3 Arc’teryx jackets including the Beta. They are always so expensive and only the yellow ones go on sale. My zipper came apart on my Beta so I visited one store and they told me it would be 3-4 weeks but get this I had to take it to one of their other stores. I arrived at this other store and they had a zipper repair facility, but they still said that it would be 3 to 4 week. Then they said it was my fault that I hadn’t been cleaning the jacket properly and that’s why the zipper wasn’t working. Poor service considering the price of the jacket. I decided to buy a rain jacket made by Woods under $100 , it looks better, has the Velcro cuffs and very comfortable.
I will never buy Arc’teryx again very overpriced for just average equipment and then poor service.

Customer service non existent when their garments fail. Ive sent in 4 service requests to attempt to get an expensive Gore Tex jacket repaired. They don't even reply. The automated email response instructs me to send in more infor/pictures however the emails just bounce back with an unknown address error. Online Forums seem full of similar experiences.
