Complaint by Alan Jasper

My name is Alan Jasper, I employed the services of debt collector company Are You Owed Money to recover a debt of £2112.50 in August 2023. I have send many emails/phone calls & sent a recorded delivery letter & still not received my money. Due to their total lack of response I have enlisted another debt company Cobra Debt Collection to recover my money, costing me more money. I warn people NOT to enrole with Are You Owed Money as they appear totally uncaring & unprofessional.

Avoid at all costs!

Avoid at all costs!
We engaged this company for debt collection, and while they successfully collected the debt, they have failed to transfer the funds to us. Communication is non-existent—they do not respond to emails or calls. It appears they are only interested in securing new clients, but once they have your business, you’ll be left chasing them endlessly. This behaviour is unacceptable and should be reported. Do not trust them with your money!

DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!

DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!

This company collected a debt in full for us in August last year. We are still awaiting payment. First we were told their repayment terms were 60 days, as of today we are told that can be 90 days.

Looking at reviews online this is a very common scenario for AYOM customers. Do not use this company. You have been warned.

We engaged this company June 2023…

We engaged this company approximately two years ago which we deeply regret. They have chased our clients owing us money and have secured payment from them however kept it for themselves. We have not had a penny back from them and they owe us in access of £2500. All staff work from home and they are versed and read from scripts which say they cant give out numbers of managers they can only send emails. Directors never respond to emails or requests to get in touch however are fully aware of how they operate and encourage staff to be evasive. We know this as staff are versed in copying mails to them knowing they will not respond. They are nothing but a bunch of crooks, beware DO NOT TRUST THEM.
We are now pursuing them legally and reporting them to BBC Rogue Traders.
I have mentioned a Director by name in a previous review on here and was asked to take it down by AYOM which i have done as a matter of courtesy which proves they read things like this and are aware of their actions .
So lets see Ms. Director if you respond now and give me the same courtesy as i afford you with a discussion to pay the money you have collected and YOU owe.
Failing that name and shame will be the order of the day which is nothing less than you all deserve
Thanks for the update however this information regarding the Directors name was freely given by your telephone goal keepers.
Nice you have replied however you do not answer the question about how to pay us the money you owe .
Really interesting now you communicate via a review site!!
Call me to discuss the debt you owe and like i have said afford the courtesy it deserves

Avoid this company at all costs

Updated 4th February 2025

Thank you for your response, however it is incorrect .

The matter has not been resolved and I can only get you to respond by writing on here.

I am still outstanding the final payment that you have collected from my debtor, you said that it would be paid in September / October 2024 after it had passed your clearing period. This payment has still not been paid to me despite me emailing you about it on a number of occasions ( no response to emails) and phoning you ( no reply from the telephone either)

Being as I have finally got your attention, when will I receive my final payment ?

Avoid this company at all costs - they have collected a debt for me in full, the payments have easily passed their 6 month holding period yet they refuse to pay me the money collected, no answer to emails and no answer on the phone - definitely a scam company - look them up on companies house - the current director has a habit of resigning as director of this company and then reappointing himself at a later date, swapping directorship with a lady who is also doing the same thing , they have lots of 'our' money in 'their' bank which they collect off our debtors and then refuse to hand over!

Hi Sarah. Thank you for your now third review of AYOM. We have already responded to your first review. Leaving multiple reviews is unlikely to result in speeding up the resolution of any problems and does not further damage the company's Trustscore which only takes into account 1 review per user.

As per our original response to your first review:

Good afternoon, Sara. Firstly, we apologise for the delay in returning your email. Due to a high number of enquiries we have not been able to respond as quickly as we’d like. Our team were in touch to advise when payment was due. The payment was sent on the given date and the matter has been resolved. Kind regards, the AYOM team.

AVOID

AVOID, AVOID, AVOID!
Absolutely shocking service.
After Paying AYOM to chase several debts I have now spent weeks/months chasing AYOM for payment due that they have collected from our debtors.
Unable to speak with anyone in finance, instead you can only speak to customer services who can’t help with payment details and say they will email the finance department.

Abysmal company

Abysmal company.
Please do not use them, avoid at all costs.
No reply to endless amount of emails sent as they will not call to have a normal human conversation with their customers.
He (my husband) had to physically go to the office to get a response from them.
They need to have a look at what they think customer service and communication is.

Trustpilot just as bad as are you owed money

Trustpilot removed the following; dancing to the fee payer maybe ?

Have been trying for over twenty four months to get the GDPR material from this company that I have no relationship with whatsoever although we know they are holding personal details and information.

Every time I request it, they ask through your platform for my details. This is engagement and arguably harassment as they have no intention of fulfilling their legal obligation in this regard.

Why are you querying this as your policies state I can comment on any engagement, all of which come from are you owed money

I look forward to comments on this

Regards

Peter

This company is a professional scam…

This company is a professional scam company. they make their money by chargng their customers a cancellation fee od £150 when their customers realise that5 they are a total sham. I have reported AYOM to action fraud and this professional scam company should be struck of by the Financial services authority.

Disgusting Organisation to deal with

Have been awaiting a response from AYOM's I have been chasing them for several months and they cannot be bothered to reply. I've not received any of the money that is owed to me despite my debtor having paid the full amount back in April 24 nor have I had any kind of response or update.

Given the number of people posting ta similar response I'm surprised the newspapers haven't picked up on this scam have given them to the end of the year to respond then its off to small claims court.

Would be nice to just see them pay up for the money I'm owed. End of the day they have charged me for the privilege and held my funds for 8 months gaining interest. I wouldn't use them again
11/02/25 Update despite taking them to small claims court and arranging for mediation they don't bother turning up even though they admit they have my money. Now it goes to Court to get what they owe me absolutely terrible to deal with please if you have any sense you would not use this company.

DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY

AY-5158-1824

DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY,
Case opened April 22nd 2024, collected money from debtors with days and they still have my money.
I’d read on trust pilot that they would like to be reviewed on their own platform, so I did, no response.
Just called again, option 2 customer services are receiving too many calls I bet they are) so use must email enquiries! Total joke. Just spoke to collections, they will for the second time enquire internal, or so they say.
I asked to speak to the director Mr Robert Joseph Thomas Logan, he doesn’t accept calls!!

Here’s what I sent to there enquiries @ayom.co.uk

What can I say! Initially amazing, Shereen was very helpful, caring and made me feel less stressed about the process. The debt was cleared very quickly, 90 days to wait for our money. Not sure what happened next ! Nothing really!
Is there a customer service department because nobody from there seems to answer the phone? In goodness knows how many email I’ve sent I’ve had one reply. This was telling me my case had gone to finance to be prepared for a payment run, not sure how long that takes to prepare because that was 11th November and still no money has come my way.
I’m really not happy with how this has gone, will I ever get my money?!
Read reviews on trust pilot many seem to be in a similar position! One I read asked that the client reviewed on this platform rather than trust pilot, so here I am! Will this get your attention, will I ever get my money, cos 90 days was ages ago, as was 120! I wouldn’t recommend AYOM!

I look forward to hearing from you, receiving my money would be even better!

Yours totally miffed
Joanna Lans.

DO NOT USE!!

I’ve had a case with this company for well over 3 years. Basically only got me 15% of the money owed to me. They never contact me. They never reply to emails. Basically all they have done is email and call the person that owes me money. No legal proceedings. Utterly useless. I’d stay well away from this company as it seems a scam to just get your money to get the case going.

I beg all of you out there

I beg all of you out there, look at all the negative comments and listen to them. These guys are just a joke. If you owed money, do it yourself through the courts, it costs a tenth of what you pay these people and we have been successful 85% of the time. Paying these people is a joke, they are absolutely useless in getting any money in. Oh and the money they collect, they never pay out to you. PLEASE BE WARNED!
And if you want to take your debtors back, they send you another account, it's absolutely a joke.
