I've found this course really inspiring and helpful. My tutor kept in touch the whole way through with good, constructive feedback and I've learnt loads about different art styles and techniques. They encouraged me to find and develop my own style too and I would definitely recommend this course to anybody looking for an equivalent to GCSE art.

I really enjoyed my experience on the OCAD Level 2 course. The teachers were very helpful and encouraging and the structure was very good, especially the way that the skills builder tasks were organised. There were good resources and prompt feedback to assignments. Teachers were readily available on the Chat function when help was needed or to discuss creative ideas, and the lessons were very flexible as they could be listened to live on Teams or online later. The course builds towards a Final Themed Project in which students choose their own theme and work towards a final unique piece of art. There are also competitions and online exhibitions during the course to help students feel part of the community on the course.

When I started the course in 2020 before Teams it was on the old online system which was very chaotic and not user-friendly. Then they moved to Teams which was confusing at first but that was probably more of a Teams issue than the actual Art Course. However, as I have been in the course throughout this process I can say that the course is 100% better now than it used to be and it's easy to access.
Communication with tutors was mostly quick and they always responded to my questions.
When I asked for feedback the teachers listed out what I needed to do and what I could improve on in a helpful way.
The only problem I have is the user interface but I think that is more of a Teams thing and less of the art course itself

When doing this art course I felt very de-motivated as I didn't have the creative freedom for the majority of the skill builder, I understand that parts of the skill builder are there to make a foundation for a student. The feedback that I received from the tutor made me feel that I wasn't doing well. This combination created a negative mindset towards the course. I didn't want to do the annotate, I didn't want to draw.
An issue I had was with the tutors, as feedback didn't feel clear at times and it was inconsistent. W
e paid for a one year international course and only received feedback on Tuesdays and Thursdays.
Later on my mindset changed as I had more creative freedom and I understood the intention of feedback from tutors. As a result I enjoyed the course more.
Overall I enjoyed the course more when I fully understood what was happening. The tutors need to be online more and give feedback for a one year course as they are supposed to.
This course was thorough and the tutors were helpful whenever I contacted them. I started the course later than September which meant I was always struggling to catch up the large workload and couldn't join in to the live lessons. It would have been good to have been able to talk on the phone to iron out some of those teething issues, but as an all-online formt, it was well done and I learnt lots.

This college is really great for people who don't have time to go personally to college, but that would have time to do it from home. All the teachers and tutors are really helpful and even online you can chat with peers and ask for ideas and feedback on you projects.

I enrolled for the Level 2 certificate in Art & Design. It is a comprehensive and flexible course, equivalent to iGCSE art course, but with portfolio-based evaluation instead of an exam. The course stretches and challenges you and encourages you to explore art mediums and styles. I really enjoyed the 2-year plan, gradually working on my art and acquiring a useful, sturdy set of skills. Experienced tutors and diligent peers, thank you OCAD for a lovely experience!

The course so far has lots of units to cover that offer a range of information and activities, teachers help is easily accessed although some of the lessons could have some more examples of work and what it should look like to make this great course even better

This course allowed me to explore my love of Fine Art. I found the processes so informative and really interesting. For example, learning about the history and origin of art mediums, as well as looking into different kinds of painters, sketchers, photographers and more. Enabling me to create artistic outcomes that were completely unexpected but so great.
There is something for everyone :)

I really enjoyed doing this course, from start till finished. The tutors were amazing and kind. Such positive and helpful feedback always. They are very encouraging and their aim is to help you to achieve well within your own potential. There were some tough times, but mostly a sense of accomplishment that boosted my confidence.
The whole process and project has taught me so much more than just learning an art skill. All the trials, planning, trying and trying again has taught me so much perseverance. I have gained life skills that I now have forever and can use in so many other things I might have to face in life. This course has help me with my anxiousness to know that it is good to trial and try things and not to be scared to do so, even if it is a fail, but instead of giving up and feeling like a loser, I am now able to keep on trying until I am satisfied with the outcome, after giving it my best. It has also helped me to think deeply about how I see life and was able to channel my feelings and mood successfully through being creative.
I would highly recommend this course and hope other students will find it as great as I have.

I had the honour of studying with OCAD over the past year and it was the best experience ever! I was so lost as to how i was going to make it to fashion university, and came across this course online. i have now completed my year with an extremely strong final project, double the knowledge i knew before and 4 offers to university’s. I would just like to put a special mention in about Jo Cantwell, she has been an incredible tutor and a blast to work with, always challenging me and pushing me to be my best. overall i couldn’t thank OCAD enough and would recommend it to everyone who is interested in the art!

I have loved doing this course! Before doing the Level 3 Foundation Course Art & Design at OCAD, I knew nothing about design. Now that I have finished the course, I know in which design field I want to specialize and I got the opportunity to experiment in loads of projects in different design fields, such as Animation, illustration, Character Design, Photography and Graphic Design. What I really loved about this course is the wide-ranging choice of topic for the projects, you can really choose whatever you really like!!! I find the tutors very helpful and gave valuable tips and correction. I learnt a lot during this course, like creating a whole project alone, doing a project presentation and a self evaluation and also time management! All things that will help me in the future. The only thing that could be improved is the connection with people. There weren’t many lectures, it was more like working alone and learning alone. I would recommend adding some more lectures, not only 1 to 1 but also group lectures. However, it was overall a good course!

The tutors were extremely helpful and friendly throughout the course, providing useful feedback. I was challenged throughout the various projects to try out different mediums and art styles that I probably wouldn't have on my own. This has expanded my own knowledge and experience in art. Overall, I am very happy with it!

I attended this program instead of doing my A-Levels and still received the majority of university offers I selected. Communication was excellent and I am proud to have done this course, as I got to study many topics I was interested in, such as concept character design! I highly recommend this course if you want a push in your artistic career.

Such a great range of projects to choose from and has creative and interesting ways of developing each one. The tutors are great help and friendly to talk to so there’s never really any social problems there. I personally am very shy and struggle with anxiety but this course was a step in a better direction for me as I got to chat and express my mind to other people. Overall I’m happy I completed this course and hope my hard work pays off! Thanks OCAD

My son has been learning with CHS for the past year, at Year 9 level. He loves the art programme especially. Variety of artist, media and task keep things interesting; excellent teaching clarity and manageable pace make new skills and topics accessible (he follows through live class recordings due to considerable time difference); regular submissions and teacher messaging touch-points provide a good sense of support, and the bank of guidance material available is outstanding. This programme suits self-motivated students who enjoy spending some free time practising art.

I love OCAD
I have loved every minute of my art journey in the lower school of CHS. The OCAD teachers give clear guidance and instructions and make every minute enjoyable. I found their feedback super helpful, always supportive and great ways to make improvements. If there is a need to ask questions it is simple and easy to make contact and they always reply. I’m excited for my next steps with OCAD!
