It said pay $5 to speak to an attorney for 5 minutes. I did, but two days later, I see a $70 charge in my checking account. $5 for the 1st call and $65 for a membership, which they hide in their written pitch. They refuse to refund the $65. RUN!!! Don't trust any of the lawyers.

I needed a question answered so I tried AskALayer I was charged £10 to ask my question which was answered quickly but only very briefly, which obviously required a follow up question. I was offered a phone call which would cost £44 that I accepted and paid for. as soon as I had paid I received a message telling my my Layer was no longer available, and my questioned would be opened up to the community.
I requested a refund and was ignored. I called customer services and was Informed my account had been cancelled. I was not able to speak to anyone.
3 hrs later when I was in bed I received a phone call with another very simplistic answer. I will not use again

They are not gonna answer your questions. So, keep your personal info With you don’t need to share it on their website coz it’s useless.

Unfortunately I didn't read the other reviews. I completed the contact form and now keep receiving phone calls and emails wanting to charge me large amounts of money to answer the question which was supposed to be answered for free!

In short, avoid them at all costs and don't give them your contact details!

Not worth spending time if there is no reply: Waiting for 3 days with no response to the inquiry. They warn you that you might not get a response, but then why bother? It's quite disappointing.
But of course they get all the details about you - is your data safe? Unclear...

L had a problem which I required a legal opinion on. The AskALawer website seemed to say all the right things, even that the first question would be answered free. They explained how it was free, i.e., "With AskALawyer answering your questions for free it is possible that you won't need to pay a practising lawyer for legal assistance elsewhere. If so that's great. If on the other hand you do need further legal assistance, we hope that you like what you have heard so far and consider using one of our lawyers at their respective law firms for your additional legal needs." Their website was very professional and I thought it was okay to proceed. I submitted my rather complex question, I received an acknowledgment and have heard nothing from them since. Unfortunately my Junk Email is filling up at a fast rate of knots so I am paying the penalty for my folly. Don't go near them ! ! !

Extremely dodgy. I read the home page, which looked professional and legit, asked a question and tried submitting it. They wouldn't accept it without my phone number. I found that suspicious; they claim to send advice once, via email, so what do they need my number for?

Then I had a closer look at their TOS and deleted my question and details immediately. By using their site, you agree for your email to be spammed by multiple people/firms, whether they help you or not. Plus, they reserve the right to use and distribute anything you send them that is not personally identifiable information. They are data harvesters. Have a read of this:

"Other than personally identifiable information, which is covered under our Privacy Policy, any material you transmit or post to the Website shall be considered non-confidential and non-proprietary. ASKALAWYER.CO.UK shall have no obligations with respect to such material. ASKALAWYER and its designees shall be free to copy, disclose, distribute, incorporate and otherwise use such material and all data, images, sounds, text and other things embodied therein for any and all commercial or non-commercial purposes."

The issue you send them will not be confidential. That's OK on forums, where someone remains anonymous, not when you send your details on top of that. I don't know if they ever help anyone and won't try to find out.

Asked this website a genuine legal question & never recieved an acknowledgement, Never mind a reply to my query.
Only result I did get was a sudden increase in spam email to my address.
Don't Bother.
