I would strongly caution potential…
I would strongly caution potential customers before purchasing from AsterThemes.
My experience involved repeated licensing failures, incorrect or ineffective package deliveries, delayed support responses, and multiple instances where my specific requests were not directly addressed.
The primary issue was simple: the themes I purchased were not initially provided. I needed to repeatedly request the full package, not themes individually. When received the package was incomplete (missing themes paid for), and did not have compatible working licenses. The license information provided repeatedly returned as invalid. I clearly requested that the affected licensing be reset in their Freemius license tracking account and that a new, valid license be issued with a replacement package. Instead, I repeatedly received additional download links and package files without the underlying licensing issue being corrected.
More concerning, support requested System and WordPress Administrator access to for website to investigate what was fundamentally a licensing issue. As a cybersecurity forensics investigator, I considered that request unnecessarily broad and inconsistent with basic least-privilege security practices. I declined and offered to retrieve any technical details, logs, identifiers, or configuration information they needed if they simply told me what to collect and where to find it. They did not meaningfully pursue that option, and did not acknowledge it at all.
I was also sent unexpected or incorrect theme packages and download links from different locations (from different filesharing third party locations). At one point, I was told the licensing issue had been resolved by removing the Freemius licensing component from a theme, which was not the resolution I requested, nor resolved the issue.
Support responses were often slow (24-72hrs) and appeared to repeatedly miss or misunderstand the issue already explained in prior correspondence. Rather than addressing the requested license reset and replacement directly, I continued receiving additional files and instructions that did not resolve the problem.
After numerous unsuccessful attempts to resolve the issue, I requested a refund and license deactivation. AsterThemes refused the refund based on its digital-download policy, despite my position that the purchased product had never been provided to me with consistently valid, functional licensing.
I have retained documentation of the entire transaction, including the support correspondence, invalid licensing results, download links, incorrect deliverables, security-related access requests, and refund communications, which was refused.
Based on my experience, I cannot recommend AsterThemes. Customers should carefully consider their licensing practices, refund policy, support response times, and any requests for privileged WordPress access before purchasing or providing access to their websites.
For me, the issue was not buyer’s remorse. It was repeated failure to provide a working licensed product and an effective resolution after multiple opportunities to do so.
